In doing some research on this website, I am finding that trying every 4 days is successful. What does this mean... every 4 days during the whole cycle? Every 4 days after O? Every four days after pos OPK? Thanks!

Trying every 4 days is a new method and I do not feel like we have enough data to totally say if it's a success or not. Not enough results yet and most of the results are in swayers that were having trouble conceiving and thus may not represent the average person's odds of success with it.

The data in the statistics that LOOK like it is describing this method actually isn't, it's talking about having husband release every 4 days or so and then having one attempt.

But that having been said I do think it's a good method and will ~probably~ yield good results for us, just that I can't back it up with data (yet). To do it, you start having unprotected sex the day after AF ends (or so) and then every 4 days thereafter. Yes, you should continue after positive OPK and after you think you ovulated in case of false ovulation (this happens all the time when swaying) and eventually the sperm will meet the egg!!

Thank you atomic!! One more question, as I finally was able to sit five minutes and dive into the information on the website! We are looking at doing the one attempt on day of positive OPK. So we should obstain the entire cycle before the positive opk? Then when we get a positive OPK dtd and then obstain after that as well? Thanks so much atomic! I feel as though I like this method better than the every 4 days (althought my husband may no lol)

You just DTD as often as you like (use protection) and then do one attempt at positive OPK.

Frequency patterns below (link)

No one should ever abstain for a whole cycle and I think it's a good idea to switch to every 4 days after ovulation to be sure you're in with attempt in case ovulation is delayed.

Hi again! Sorry my responses are so far between. Would dtd on positive OPK then dtd 4 days later increase odds of boy? And also, can I just use the OPK's that show a positive when you are supposed to be ovulating soon or do I have to use the ones with the lines that get darker? Thanks!

I think the test line has to be darker than the control line (or as dark). That indicates a surge, that ovulation is about to occur (12-36hrs) so it's definitely best to get a true positive if doing one attempt. That being said, some people never really get full blaring positives and so the every 4 days thing is a great option.
Regarding does if swayboy if you dtd 4 days after the pos. It's maybe a touch less pink, but it's the same as the every 4 days plan all through. It's essentially like one attempt (since swimmers aren't likely still hanging on..) but like atomic said, is a new idea.
If OPKS work for you, I'd do the one attempt for a cycle or 2.

Go off your first positive OPK, not the darkest.

OH and no, it wouldn't up odds of boy because you would have already ovulated most of the time. It is really just to hedge your bets in case you had a false positive OPK, so you don't miss the whole month relying on that attempt that took place with a false surge.

Or, you can continue with OPK just in case and then maybe get another positive, have another attempt then, instead of continuing with every 4 days.
