I'm completely over analyzing when to DTD!

So after helpful advice last cycle of every other day before O and then a few attempts after O resulted in a BFN, we're attempting again! So here I am on CD14. We attempted on day 11 & 13. My OPK is getting pretty dark, not quite positive yet but close. Lots of cervical mucus. I've been monitoring my cycle for a year now and I regulary O around day 17. Do I try again tonight? Or hold out until tomorrow night?

What does atomic say? Are you supposed to avoid every day close to O? If no I'd dtd today and ever day right through.
If you reg o on cd 17 - and want to do every other day I'd do today and then cd 16.

I'm not sure. I think you want to avoid it if hubby's sperm count is low but I'm not sure. I do know my DH can't do very many days in a row! Paging Atomic! You're my only hope ;)

I think it can be taxing but I thin over 7-10 days kinda thing. I think the odd time of dtd daily wouldn't hurt

We conceived DS1 doing it every day for a week and DS2 with about four attempts around O (about every other day). I say go for it!

If you don't have a positive opk then I would wait tonight & go for it tomorrow... Especially if your hubs has issues since once opk is fully + which sounds like tomorrow then you'll want the 3-5xs.... My opinion! GL!!

I almost jumped ahead but we waited and I'm so glad we did :) my opks are almost positive but not quite yet.

Sorry only just now spotted this.

No matter what you did it was the right thing (any attempt when there's cervical mucus is all good) but I'd probably have you keep going with the every other day pattern till CD 16 OR positive OPK whichever comes first. :)

We ended up skipping last night! OPK is still negative this morning so I think it was a good decision (especially since DH ends up losing steam the more we BD!)

:agree: that is the issue and this is one thing that differentiates the pink swayers from the blue - many of us who have lots of boys have hubbies who can "bang it out" so to speak for days on end, even 2x a day. But the blue swayers' husbands (not all, but a significant %) husbands aren't able to do it quite that much and hence I think it is safest to stick to every other day or even every 2-4 days, and then have him be able to manage the 3-5 attempts at or around the positive OPK when it counts the most.

You would have to start attempting at fade in and not wait till OPK goes totally positive (unless your husband is a sex machine LOL) OR you can rely on having a fairly regular cycle.

So if you know you are a couple days before O and/or are getting a very dark fade in, you'd have attempt either:

Night of O-3, night of O-2, then O-1, the next morning, and again the next night

OR

Night of O-2, next morning, night of O-1 (pos OPK day), the next morning, and then again that night.

OR change it up however you want - the 5 attempts has to be at OR AROUND positive OPK, whereas the 3 attempts is really at positive OPK, if that helps

And you can of course count your EOD attempts for part of the 5 so if you've already had attempts O-4 and O-2, those really do count, then you can still do the 3 attempts at pos OPK and be in with 5.

Blah, I think I screwed up this cycle! I was only able to get in O-5 O-3 O-1 and O. Do you think that was enough? I couldn't get in anymore attempts!

Yes that is good enough!!!

THe only reason I say 3 after pos OPK is because so many people want to stick with Shettles. Not because that is the only way to get a boy! I can guarantee you I"ve conceived boys with very similar BD patterns to that, Fox!
