Hi all, I had a blood test to confirm pregnancy yesterday at 4w, 4d and it came back at 111. My endocrinologist office did the test since I was already there for a thyroid checkup and when they called today they didn't mention retesting in 48 hours so I asked if they could and the receptionist said she'd check with the doctor and get back to me. This number seems low to me but a couple of you in the Aug 2ww thread assured me that its a normal number (thanks momamia and XX, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't still stressing though). I know the normal range from the American Pregnancy Association is very large (so like 10 - 425 mIU/ml) for 4 weeks) but I'm guessing that has to depend on when implantation occurs. If one person implants at 8 dpo and one at 12 dpo, their numbers are going to be quite different at 18 dpo. I got a clear positive at 10 dpo so I feel like my number should be higher at this point. Based on this chart, I feel like it should be over 1,000:
Is My hCG Blood Level Normal | BabyMed (http://www.babymed.com/is-my-hcg-blood-level-normal)
Just curious what everyone else's numbers were and at how many dpo? Please include when you got a + hpt too.

I just got a call from the nurse. My level increased from 141 to 303 in 4 days. My doubling time decreased a little to 86.99 hours. I go back in on Saturday for another blood test. FX my doubling time shortens and my numbers go up more on Saturday! :D

Goodmom I agree - the d&c will be a quicker recovery than waiting it out. Emotionally as well. As someone who went through it (we found our empty sac at 10.5 wks) i can say that recovery was tough for a few days, I was off work for 3 days and still uncomfortable a few days after but it's the beginning of a new start... Not sure if that helps you at all, but know you're not alone.

Also I had a D&C and would always pick that if it is an option. You know they are clearing everything out which is good for future pregnancies and I personally did not have any pain. I was just a bit woozy from the meds which they use to knock you out.

So sorry to read this Goodmom :sadflwr:
I was told at my 8wk dating scan that the pregnancy was not viable (slow heartbeat, 2 weeks behind in measurements), a week later another scan confirmed no heartbeat. It took another 6 days until a bit of bleeding started. I was booked in for a D & C 2 days later (would have had it the day after the last scan but all of my Dr's were away so I had to wait - which was not nice). I am VERY glad I took the surgery route, even though my body started miscarrying naturally - it was not very pleasant and I was glad when I was knocked out and could wake up 'all done'.
If you want to chat feel free to send me a message. Take care xx

Tiffsal that is so exciting! I can't wait to see pics of your bubs! Was your scan today then?
Im obsessed with early pregnancy. I cannot stop googling and stressing over numbers and trying to plan how im going to get through the next bunch of weeks....
I guess I'm 6 weeks tomorrow based on lmp, but I am eager to get prenatal care started and to determine whether im carrying just one. My doc isn't helpful, but I've just learned I can possibly start seeing a midwife earlier than a doctor will take me.
I've called the midwives that looked after me at the end with ds4, and also a more local midwife team. But my mind is on this stuff 24/7. You'd think after all these pregnancies Id be an old hat at it and be able to function but not so much. Fortunately I have a run of weddings this weekend and next so I can Maybe absorb myself in work for a bit...
Sorry for the rant - I just find this site /forum so much more active and supportive than the wte type groups

Best of luck today TiffSal. I hope you have a healthy and cooperative baby for a good clear nub shot today.
I pushed my scan back to the Wednesday the 9th as there was just too much going on on the Friday before with DD finishing her 1st week in school and starting her 1st solo swimming lessons ( I have been in the pool with her all other times)
I am getting very dizzy and have a mild headache whenever I am hungry this week. I feel good for about an hr or 2 after I eat and then it comes back. I have had this months 3-4 on my other pregnancies too. I guess I just need to manage it by eating smaller meals more regularly and start taking my iron as it can be linked to anemia plus my blood pressure tends to run on the low side. last time it was 120/80 I was in 40 weeks pregnant. It used to drop during labour too. Anyone else getting this?

I'm so sorry goodmom :( Wishing you strength and peace as you deal with this difficult process. Sending big hugs.
Well ladies I am sad to leave this group as well. I started bleeding yesterday morning and it is still going strong. My hcg was at 111 on Monday, which seemed low to me for 4 weeks, 4 days, and they tested it again yesterday so I am waiting for those results but I have given up hope. There is no way this could still be a viable pregnancy. I was only about 5 weeks but I never realized just how hard this would be.
Best wishes to all of you on your pregnancy journeys!

Thank you all so much and extra hugs, goodmom. True, I hope your spotting stops ASAP. I did have a lot of spotting with my DS and the pregnancy went very smoothly besides that. Sending prayers for you. How far along are you at this point?
I just got my hcg results back and yesterday's number is 37, down from 111 on Monday. So its definitely over, as I assumed when I started bleeding. My progesterone is only 0.7. Should I assume that is because the pregnancy is ending or could low progesterone have been a cause for this? My doctor's office is useless so they didn't give me any information on that. I'm looking for a new OB today.

True - bleeding can go on for a long time with a SCH. I had one with DS1 and it carried on for 10 weeks! (From 6-16 weeks). It would go from red to brown, to back to red, etc. It's aweful I know to be in limbo but I am feeling very positive for you that you will get a healthy little baby from this xx
I've been quite sick lately. I had a cold which turned into a chest and sinus infection and I just don't seem to be able to clear it. I'm on antibiotics so hopefully that will help soon. At the doctors yesterday I snuck in for an unofficial scan and saw my little bean doing sit ups lol which was lovely. I couldn't stop myself staring at the nub though - a totally stacked looking BOY nub! How can this be at only 10 weeks? I'm so confused. Anyways I'm just totally not trying to think about it too much.
My thoughts are with all of you going through such a hard time at the moment xx

The scan went really good. Measuring 2 days ahead now. It was 4 days behind at the dating scan. And all measurements were good. He could define the sex and wrote it on the screen monitor. Our last bub will be a baby girl. We are still over the moon. He told us he was 99.9% sure andbwe wouldnt need to keep shopping receipts 😆

I made my first prenatal appointment with the midwives. I gave up waiting for the group that is geographically closer to me and called the ones that did my care with ds4.
I was so happy that they were willing to bring me in asap (still 2 weeks from now though) and set me up with an ultrasound to confirm what im cooking up (as far as singleton or not...) right after instead of waiting on the 12 wk scan! So I'll have a more accurate dating scan to book my "harmony" test too :)

Im not fully up to speed on the differences between harmony, the "free tests" we have here and the paid one that I'll be doing.
In ontario we have a free 2 part blood test called IPS that screens for downs, trisomy 18 and spina bifida and they're done after 11 wks (between 11+13 wks) and then a second blood draw between 15-18 wks. These tests are used in combo with the NT scan. Im not sure how harmony screens - we do have harmony here, but I know if our ips test come back positive we can apply for our medical coverage to pay for harmony (approx $1000)
The one im getting at 10 wks is similar I guess but less, according the their web page; or maybe it's just the gender reveal that is this price but like $325 or something.

Congratulations on your baby girl Tiff. I am really delighted for you.
My OB does offer the harmony test but we have opted not to have it. I am low risk and the test is not covered by my health insurance so would be expensive.

Thank you everyone. I really didnt think it would of worked being on the diet for only 5 weeks...
Xx i didnt everything that could sway for a girl.
I used acijel every 2nd day. I dumped 10min after finishing bd and use half the applicator for acijel.
I drank a glass of cranberry juice every morning on the diet and tablets as well in the afternoon. With vit C.
Zinc everyday. We had oysters the day before the attempt as it is full of zinc but my ph went really high up. I cant remember about baby aspirin but i think it would of been the 3 days leading up to attempt.
I took zyrtec at the same time.
Hubby was taking licorice root tablets but half the recommended dose for couple weeks...
The actal attempt was totally different from how my boys were made....
I hope i answered everything 😊

True - bleeding can go on for a long time with a SCH. I had one with DS1 and it carried on for 10 weeks! (From 6-16 weeks). It would go from red to brown, to back to red, etc. It's aweful I know to be in limbo but I am feeling very positive for you that you will get a healthy little baby from this xx
Well you are right I can expect the bleeding for a while to come. I had a second ultrasound, the bleed is still visible but baby is going strong :)
FWIW I don't think your U/S shows a boy nub at all :agree:
Ash I'm going to have a look at yours now!!
Yaybaby again I'm so sorry your HCG has confirmed your fears from the bleeding. My thoughts are with you mommas :hugs:

Glad your little bubba is growing well True :). Long may it continue!
my nub looked abit more obvious during the scan. It's still flat but I'm just so confused as to why it had that bright extra bulb on the top already. Time will tell I guess.
I'm slowly getting some energy back. We moved the boys rooms around today and made the office into DS1 bedroom so now he has his own space. He loves it. He's so excited he won't sleep lol.
Keep well everyone and grow strong little by babies xx

Good to hear your starting to feel better :)
I truly don't think the nub can be used to guess quite yet, everywhere I've looked in the past has said they are still identical at this stage :) we never truly know what we're seeing on ultrasounds I've seen lines and blobs appear and disappear out of nowhere :D

It is really nice if you are ready for it too! So great! When is baby due?
I'm due either Nov 27th or Dec 3rd- they can't make up their minds, since he is measuring 1 week ahead.
Thanks! I'm not sure if I will be ready completely, since we are not trying/not preventing as soon as he is born! The prospect of having two so close in age freaks me out a bit, but I only want to try for 1 year only! I've never tried to conceive while nursing such a little one, but I always get AF back early. So, from when he is born until March/April I'll be using Replens/Acijel religiously to cut the odds of conception a bit...hopefully! Then when we have better timed BDing, we will just use a small amount of Acijel/Replens as a lube if needed to make BDing more comfortable.
Ahhhh!!

I went into the ER last night because I started having horrible cramping. They got me right in (which was a miracle because they had a 6 hour wait!!!). They did blood work and my levels didn't go up much: 513 from 303 on Tuesday. They did 2 ultrasounds and found the gestational sac in my uterus but it is abnormally shaped and empty. I am going in for a d&c on Tuesday. I don't see the need to continue with the pregnancy when my levels are so low and there is no fetal pole. They didn't feel it was likely that I'd have another sac in one of my tubes. I also discovered that I have a giant cyst on my left ovary that I'll need to have drained because it is so big that it poses a risk for my ovary to twist from the weight (it's 4.3cm).
I'm really just glad to be able to move forward and not have to worry anymore. Because of my history of miscarriage, they are going to do genetic testing on the tissue to see if they can figure out a cause for the abnormal pregnancy. Thank you everyone for the positive thoughts. It was a rough night.
My RE's office made it sound like I should be going in there for the d&c. When I said confronted her on it, the nurse acted like she claimed I should do what I feel the most comfortable with. Then she told me that if I go through my RE, I won't be able to get it done on Tuesday because he'd have to see me first. So, it would probably take at least a week or more to schedule it. That is after my kids are back in school and I really don't want to have to deal with this right when the kids start school. She also said that my hcg will need to be followed by whoever does the d&c and acted like I wouldn't be able to have my RE's office do that if I go to the hospital to have the d&c. Wtf?! Why is she making this so hard on me? I told her that the d&c was never offered or even suggested this whole 2 weeks and that I haven't even seen my RE through all of this. I think I am going to just go to my regular OB and screw my stupid RE. Their office is seriously pissing me off. I've never experienced such horrible bedside manner from a nurse before in my life.

So sorry to hear this Momamia :( I don't understand why there are so many of us in one select group are having these non-viable pregnancies :( I start to question the swaying, but then I have heard stats like 1 in 4 pregnancies result in a miscarriage - which is a large unbelievable number (I never knew this) and I guess you can see that if you have a large group of women in a 'study' or controlled area (like a forum) you will see this stat pop up :sadflwr:
I hope your Dr's office pulls their socks up real fast. I hope your regular OB can help you in a much nicer way than that too. Thinking of you xox

I'm so so sorry momamia. It sounds like the nurse was absolutely awful! Is there anyone you can discuss her bedside manner with? Also I don't think it is really necessary to test out the Hcg I think more important is to have an ultrasound done about a week after the miscarriage just to make sure everything really is clear and looks as it should. That is what my normal obgyn did and then I used cheapie HPTs to tell when my levels were finally back down to 0. I ovulated about one week later then normal after having the d&c. I hope the additional testing gives you some answers.

August 30th, 2015, 12:31 PM
Immi- whenever I'm in a due date type group I always notice that the 1 in 4 statistic about miscarriages is unfortunately true. It's awful but I suppose it is better to lose the baby early on rather then have a baby who won't be able to live. But that doesn't help to make the situation any easier.

This is completely normal CIB! Hang in there! The waiting is rough! I started to bond with this baby once my SCH stopped bleeding/having discharge, and I knew the gender. Oddly enough, I didn't have any inkling of this was a girl or a boy.
My DH somehow knew it was a boy and has always been fine with it- so he says. He struggles with wanting a fourth and wanting a DD. he goes back and forth and probably always will! I feel like I can have a better sway this time around, but BFing worries me a little. I've never tried to TTC early on before. At least I always get AF back super early!!!

This pregnancy has been weird for me as well.... Even though I have all the symptoms & am still dealing with nausea, lol, it doesn't feel as real as my last ones.... I also want to know the gender yet I don't at the same time, if that makes any sense.. The results will most likely come this week & I'm scared to death! I think I'm going to have them put the gender result in an envelope then buy a tub of almond ice cream & sparkling grape juice for me & beer for my hubby... That way we can open it together & either celebrate or commiserate, lol!

Thanks everyone. She had a great day and is really looking forward to going again today.
There is no limit to the number of c-sections that you can have the doctors just make you aware of the increased risks involved. As my brother in law who is a doctor said to me have as many kids as you want if you are having c-sections without problems as they are hardly going to turn you away when you turn up pregnant. Which may not have been the most responsible piece of advice but I think he was saying that everyone is different and as I have never had any issues in pregnancy or post c-section and all going well this time then a fourth would not seem too risky for me.

Hi all, sorry I've been MIA. Yesterday we went in for an u/s and we finally got to see the heartbeat. Again, I'm measuring small, should be 8w1d but measured at 7w5d, but they didn't adjust my due date, so official EDD is 4/11.
We are super anxious to find out if we are having a third boy or a little girl. DS1 says "sister" when we ask, and if we ask if it's a "baby brother" he says no. According to Ramzi, it's a girl because baby was very much on the left side, but then again so were my two older sons so I'm not placing any value on that. Either way, we are just so happy to have a confirmed pregnancy and can't wait for April!
I cant wait for all the updates on what you all are having!

Momamia you are having glucose tests already. Did you have problems with it in your other pregnancies. I hope you pass your glucose test.
Babypink you are only a few days behind. You could be having a smaller baby girl. Great news that all is going well.
Ash I have had good sections too that healed quickly and cleanly. I also wear a tummy wrap after and when all healed do abdominal massages to reduce scar adhesions which causes the biggest problems in repeat sections

Pearl, they tested me early because I'm overweight, I've had a baby over 9lbs, and my mom and sister both have Type 2 diabetes. Apparently those are risk factors which require early testing. I was just as surprised as you that they are testing me for it already. I'm irritated about my results because the lab lady drew my blood for the 1 hour test 15 mins too early. I think that's why my level came back slightly elevated. She said she felt bad that I had to wait for so long. Ummm.... It's called a 1 hour glucose test for a reason lady! I think she just wanted to go home early and I was the last patient of the day. I better pass the darn 3 hour test. I've never had gestational diabetes in any of my pregnancies. I have to go in next Friday, September 11th. I have to stay there for 4 hours. :/ Ewww.... I'm going to be so bored.

Haha Foxcub! No news today, booooo :(. I decided not to call & big them though until Monday... I have dogshow this weekend which should keep me busy & I'm actually feeling a bit more relaxed about it! Maybe I'm just too scared to know right now, LOL!! When I went in to my regular Dr. The other day, the nurse told me I was probably having my third girl!:suprise:
Is it true that boys usually measure bigger then girls in early pregnancy?

People love to tell you that you are having the same gender again. I was making breakfast in the canteen in work just chatting to a male colleague who is expecting his 2nd girl soon when another woman butted in to our conversation and said "you are expecting another girl, but you have one of them already" having gone through GD I was just in a rage for him at stupid comments people make.

ALL of my boys, DS1, DS2, and this sweet boy, have either measured 1-2 weeks ahead! When they said at my first scan at 5w6d the fetus was measuring 6w8d despite the gestational sac measuring right on target with my known ovulation date, I knew we were having our third boy. This is the only thing that has held true for me.

Just got bfp 12dpo. Edd 5-10 or 5-14 depending on conception or lmp dates. My 4 sons were all 10+ lbs. ( No GD) and my fundal height always measured on dates( no ultrasounds) so not sure why some people measure ahead. How many May mommies here?? Swayed girl and have a long wait ahead:)

September 3rd, 2015, 10:12 AM
Ash4blue- Nope. My large boys never measured ahead and my dd and 1st ds were exact same pregos from how much weight I gained(25) to symptoms( nausea but no vomiting) to going in labor exactly 41 weeks and being born minutes apart( natural birth team green) everyone thought dd was ds and my ds was a dd. Lol. You never know!

I had an appt today. I was measuring right on track at 9 weeks. Baby looked like a gummy bear but was moving a bit and the heart was beating! I'm scheduling the panorama test now but legally in Germany they can't give gender results before 14 weeks, and since my own Dr. doesn't do it and I have to go to a special lab I bet they won't make exceptions. However I'm sure I'm having another boy which I'm totally fine with. I'm just hoping that baby is healthy!!!

Yep a hat trick of 3 boys is really very cool :) i had GD with Number 3 bc I was convinced he was a girl.... And bc it was my DHs first baby, and zero girls on his side so I was so wishful!
I actually have 4 of a kind lol and had no GD with number 4! Now that the 2 little ones are growing up close in age its soooo fun :). If this one is a boy it's fine - having 3 small boys will be adorable.

How far along are you again Daisy? If it's constant, you might want to call the Dr..... I had some cramping on & off in the begining but none that was constant...of course it could be round ligament pain!

I am 7 weeks. Yea I was thinking of calling the doctor but was not sure if its normal due to stretching. I also feel more cramping the days I am constantly running after my 2 year old, just trying to relax a little more and see if it makes a difference. What a fun surprise for your family Ashforblue! I've also been sipping on lemon water constantly now and that seems to help. Thanks for the tip.
Daisy- When I overdo it I definitely feel more. I think as long as it isn't constant and feels more like stretching and not too sharp of pains that I wouldn't worry.
Hitme- I also rarely throw up. I just feel like I'm going to all the time. I also have had an awful taste in my mouth and have started gargling with a water /baking soda mix and that seems to help quite a bit. I hope we all start to feel better soon!
Ashforblue- I'm guessing I will have results from the blood test back at around 15 weeks. I don't think they will tell me earlier. So in about 6 weeks.

I'll have to wait for U/S to determine gender. Probably 4 or so weeks (I'm 11 now). I will have my NT scan next Thursday (will be 12 weeks 6 days) so I can start nubsessing again lol.
That sounds like such fun Ash! I told my parents about the pregnancy yesterday. I wrote it in the Father's Day card for Dad. He was laughing. They took it pretty well. I wasn't really sure what they were going to say. My Mum did ask me if I knew what sex it was and then went off in a little blurb how she hopes it's a girl but she guesses 4 boys would be ok too blah blah blah. I just can't escape the gender comments I know.
I hope all the morning sickness makes a quick exit for everyone.
Hope you all have a great day (or sleep) xx

I just woke up - I had a dream that I had the genetics testing and got the call back and I was having a boy. Then I decided to do a tarot card reading which I have never done but oddly enough own a stack in real life, and it said something about having only boys. I cried. I thought I wouldn't have GD after having so many but I guess after swaying and putting so much "effort" into it; that I very well might have a fair case of it after all.
Part of me is wanting to wait til ultrasound now. Im feeling so crappy that I think I'd react to that news better if I was further along in my pregnancy. The flip side is if we decide to wait I will have to start telling. I'll be showing long before I can get an elective ultrasound even.

Tiff I had to change my appointment as it was clashing with the school collection and DDs swim lesson. I wasn't thinking of any of this when I made the appointment in early august.
Hitme I was convinced that DD was a boy. I even dreamed of my little boy. It was like I had lost my son when I found out DD was a girl. In the early stages of pregnancy with DS I was convinced that he was a girl no dreams that time and when I saw him on my 1st ultrasound I just knew my sway had worked.

Im still trying to figure out what im doing. We don't have harmony here but the same test under different names. We can actually get it done (NIPT) at life labs which is the big lab that has hundreds of locations across Canada. It's cheaper than harmony but does all the same thing. It's between 500-600, or I can do just gender for a couple hundred bucks at a more no name location....

So it's been decided. We'll be doing Panorama for the main 3 trisomies for $550 (includes gender) at 9 weeks if I can get a doctor to sign the paperwork in time. I see my midwife next week, and hope that she is able to sign it but it says "physician" on the form, not sure if they're picky about this kind of thing. 9 weeks is under 2 weeks away!
