I hate getting cramps as well.... Hope they go away for you!

My contractions feel like cramps, which make me nervous. I'm experiencing that now and pinching in my cervix. It happens twice an hour since 3:00pm yesterday. I'm probably dilating and effacing early like with DS1.

It's nerve wracking at any stage of pregnancy!!!

Huge hugs Hitme! Give yourself time- you have plenty of time to bond with this little guy. It's hard you know, when you gave it your all. But you did- you did everything you could! At least you tried instead of always wondering what would have happened if you swayed.

It just sucks. It will for awhile. Then one day it won't matter anymore. At least this is what my DH told me. I would do something special for yourself to try and cheer yourself up.

Hugs sweetie [emoji8]!!

Congrats on another awesome boy. I swayed last time also, its floating in sways somewhere, but alas it wasn't meant to be.
Having one gender is pretty unique when someone says 5 boys you are immediately in rock star mom status. I know its gonna take some time to sink in, I wanted to sway again immediately, but of course didn't get ppaf until 21m. Of course once the lil guy is here you can't imagine life without them.

It takes me about a year to get af back - we won't sway again. It's HT or nothing and I'm not sure we will be great candidates at 41/43. (Estimated time)

Hitme- I know this is a swaying site and some of us have fun and some of us damn near kill ourselves trying but really there is nothing we can do. It's that one second and fate is decided. Who are we to decide that? This is my last shot too. At 37 and with an almost 16 year old I'm freaking how old we are gonna be for this last one so this is def. The last one for us.

Hi ash, no I haven't found out yet, I'm nearly 19 weeks now so realistically could find out any day but I'm still undecided as to whether or not to stay team green. I have a routine 20 week scan next week so if I get any gender clues I may just go ahead with a gender scan. Scared of finding out and having to deal with the disappointment. Xxx

Thanks again mamas. I'm feeling much better about it today. I know he's going to be a fabulous fit around here, and my ht research is also a little of a saviour. Still not sure is going to happen but it's easier than squashing the full dream into the ground and calling it done. I do not want to sway again. It will be ht or nothing most likely. I'll be 41 or 42, and have to be prepared to dump a lot of money into it... And maybe come out empty handed. I'll feel like a high rolling gambler if I can get my hands on the funds lol
But Dh and I agree it's better than a mustang or a new kitchen or home Reno.... That stuff isn't for life.

You are fine Hitme. Would you consider donor egg or embryo? Embryo would be the cheapest option. That would be my choice I think. I wanted to do donor embryo this time instead of swaying but DH said he wouldn't go for it till we had one more try ourselves first. You could maybe do a cycle and if nothing to transfer then go donor?

Can someone tell me you can do either harmony or panaroma?
I was the impression that it can be done as early as 9 weeks but my obgyn said its done after 11 weeks and that I need to be referred to a genetic counselor first.
Is the info on 11 weeks correct?
What's the purpose to genetic counselor?

Yes - well you ask for an embryo that has already had PGD. So they would probably be leftovers from other couples doing gender selection. I think they quoted me $7,500usd which includes all the legals and the transfer so you would need to add pre testing and meds to that.
Become a dream member (it's only like $12) and start a thread there in the HT form. There is a few who have done it there. Beans and H4K off the top of my head. I'm sure they will be able to answer all your questions :)

Had to go buy boots and tried desperately hard to not let my gaze fall over girl clothes at the store. I'm not a raging mess of tears but I know it's bc I'm clinging to ht. that being said in the back of my mind is so much doubt.

I can't remember who posted about harmony vs panorama - but I can only speak of panorama. I called Natera myself bc I really wanted to confirm. So if you have had a dating scan and/or you know you're at least 9 weeks panorama is super awesome and fast.

I have had it done in all of my pregnancies. I didn't ever do the bloodwork portion that is offered only the scan. Have them book it when you are 13 weeks so you can have a clear idea on gender. The cut off is 13w6days for a NT scan.

With this guy, I had mine done at 13w5d and he was measuring a week ahead. We saw very clearly a sac and a penis. 13 weeks is great for determining gender early, at least to rule out if it's a boy!!

That's my thinking. If I can tell Gender at 13 weeks I want to see if it's worth it to pay for the panaroma at 11 weeks.
Maybe I will just do the NT ultrasound. What kinda of shot should I ask for at that ultrasound?

I try to limit ultrasounds so don't do unnecessary sonograms(none) and try to limit Doppler use( ultrasound)
I've always had a regular cycle or planned pregnancy so do not need dating scans. If I really had no idea I would get a dating scan. Weird your doctor wouldn't write you rx for easy peasy non invasive blood work but would recommend scan? I would question that. That blood work is becoming pretty standard at least to recommend to moms.

XXforhubby
October 2nd, 2015, 01:27 PM
You don't need to ask. They have to take measurements of everything. They have to look at all parts of the baby, including sex organs, to determine the "risk" for any abnormality. You will get plenty of shots including potty shots, profile shots, shots of all the organs, you will see the heart beat and fill with blood, etc.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It's personal choice really. You always have the right to say no if it's not something you want. I've personally not read any studies that make me think that pregnancy ultrasound is not safe. (And I studied physics, anatomy, and physiology at university so it's in my background). But I know others feel it isn't safe, or is too much of an unknown and I respect that too. So I guess it's best to you weigh up the pros and cons and then decide.
You probably don't need one at 8 weeks considering you've had one already. Saying all that though I had a ton of scans with DS1. I was constantly bleeding for 10 weeks quite heavily at times and I totally lost count of how many I had so I think 3 isn't hugely excessive. Especially if they are just quick :)

If you have reason to see a genetic counselor then see one but just for the test no, its a regular recommended test.
Why so many early ultrasounds? I thought in the US only the 20+ one was recommended?
There are different studies for and against "routine" ultrasounds and of course mall, sneak peak 3d ultrasounds. I posted a big China study the other day.

But it wouldn't only be 3 because people usually get them between 14 and 20 and later. Plus use of dopplers are ultrasounds. In 99 when I had me first was not even offered unless there was a medical reason.routine us have went up and up and have not helped out the US maternal deaths not one bit. Of course if they are medically indicated no one is questioning that. There are risks to everything and we have to weigh them but when we say personal choice its blurred by what culture/ medical doctors have ked us to believe and not question are safe.

It's a bit like the vaccines debate. It could go on forever. If you wanted maybe you could start an ultrasound thread? I'm sure you would get more responses and that would leave this one free for general pregnancy support etc.

In Germany we get ultrasounds almost every appt (so basically once a month in the beginning) and I'm not worried at all. If you are worried you can always choose to not do any ultrasounds or only 1 or 2.

Once I see some peer reviewed studies on the subject with a clear negative correlation I could see changing my opinion but so far I've seen nothing of the sort. I think talking to your Dr. and making your own decision on the subject is the best bet.

Also in Germany we have to have a medical consultation with the Dr before having the harmony or panorama test done so as to understand exactly how the test works and help understand what the results can mean. Maybe meeting with the genetic counselor is similar?

Well you can officially see my bump now when my bladder is full and I'm lying on my back with an empty stomach. It's raised more on the right side which it was with my ds. I'm so convinced I'm carrying another ds. He was raised more on the right all the way through my pregnancy up to the labour. My bump was almost lop-sided as he sat on the right all the time. I feel a bit sad about it as I'm blaming myself for all the multiple attempts :( I only had one chance and I feel like I've blown it a bit. Sorry to be a downer.

Does anyone know the link between right and left sided implantation and gender? I'm not sure where I read that more girls are on the left and more boys are on the right. I know about Ramzi but that is about placental location isn't it. Roll on 13 week scan on 20th! Feeling stressed as its approaching.

The theory is left side girls, right side boys but I don't believe in it.

XXforhubby had confirmed left side ovulation & left side implantation and she's having her 3rd boy so it doesn't always hold true.

You won't see any as its unethical to do studies on prego women:) we are the studies. Just like the decades of xrays they did no prego women:)
That is why china study is interesting because they use aborted babies :(
Germany probably has it right w the geneticist because if you get good or bad news in America you get it on the phone and are left to deal with whatever news by yourself

Human Studies Condemn Ultrasound (http://kellybroganmd.com/article/human-studies-condemn-ultrasound/)

http://www.thehealthyhomeeconomist.com/50-in-utero-human-studies-confirm-risks-prenatal-ultrasound/

At some point though the baby is already developed. I have read the studies too because my 4th was high risk and I had to have u/s every 1-2 weeks for the last part of my pregnancy and I think it's probably like everything else, if you approach it sanely and not go all Tom Cruise having an ultrasound in the house doing it every day. He's perfectly normal give or take a little "kid weirdness". :)

Some of the studies are also misleading because people who have had issues during pregnancy have more ultrasounds and more issues = more issues regardless of the ultrasounds.

Even the most dangerous things ever 110% proven to cause harm during pregnancy only cause harm a fraction of the time. Like Retin A which is one of hte most dangerous things ever, only caused birth defects 20% of the time. So with things that aren't glaringly obvious that practically everyone has done and yet most people have perfectly healthy kids after that, personally I suspect those things are probably NOT a super huge deal for the general population.

Now the argument can absolutely be made for that we don't know the risks and that they do cause unneccesary stress for people lots of times - like all the ladies who were told they had some sort of marker for something but then turned out to be nothing - but they do save lives too like with placenta previa and so forth.

The study found that ONLY IN A THREE MONTH PATTERN where ovulation had been monitored for 3 months and was L, L, R were 75% boys conceived. That was the strongest pattern. All the other patterns had varying rates of B/G conceived but they were all 3 month patterns and they all were less than 75% (so you still have plenty of a chance even with L, L, R pattern of having a girl) . And unless you know the pattern of your ovulation for 3 months running it is useless info anyway really.

Crossing everything for you dreamingpink! I really hope you hear pink - I'll be stalking tomorrow! :)

Nausea seems to be coming in ups and downs; usually after I eat. Someone said that if you have taken prenatals for a while sometimes that can ease the MS. Hope so - I've been on them for a year, so maybe that means I'll skip out lightly with the MS!

First ultrasound Thursday!

Good luck dreaming and taytum.

I found my Ms less severe with ds too but perhaps that was because I took prenatals for so long while Ttc.

I had a scan today at 11 weeks. There was no nub at all I could see but the skull looks round like my ds's. It was amazing to see it wiggling around. The placenta was also really far on the right. When I saw baby moving I just felt such a love which is amazing. All thoughts of gender went out of my head. It was even swallowing!

Thank you ladies. The tech didn't actually tell us gender and didn't actually look for it but to say to us about not wasting money on a gender scan when we both said we thought we saw boys bits says to me that she must have seen enough for her to know its a boy. Mandy, how many weeks along are you? Is it possible it could have been a leg or something else? Depending on how much gender scan is, I might do it to just ease my mind.

Ladies I need your help/advice - his morning I had a BM (I haven't had bad constipation, I usually still go at the time same every morning, just sometimes it's harder than others), and I thought I saw a little blood, but didn't think anything of it and I don't think I strained or anything too crazy. This morning then when I went to the bathroom later in the morning and wiped there was some blood. Not a lot, and none in the toilet, only after I wiped. When I did a quick check of my CM I noticed that it was still just white/creamy - no pink/red when I checked my finger or wiped it on toilet paper. Could this just be from the BM? Should I call my doctor or wait and see what happens the rest of the day?

Congrats dreamingpink!!! That's awesome! How exciting :)

Mandy, I'm sorry you're feeling sad. I'd probably do a gender scan anyway just to confirm, but don't go in expecting them to have gotten it wrong. With DS2 I had the technician say "I don't see any boy parts" so I was convinced she was insinuating a girl. Nope, she just really didn't see his boy parts which were very apparent at an elective gender u/s later that day. I was excited about a girl for about 2-3 hours, then when I saw my boy I was SO in love...definitely love at first sight (which honestly didn't even happen with my first!). I'm sorry if your DD doesn't get a sister, but whats most awesome is that you're giving your children siblings!

I'm 19 weeks now, I thought it may have been cord but for her to say not to waste money on a gender scan says to me that she thinks it was boy bits, she was not actively looking for gender (we have to have a separate scan for that in my hospital which we have to pay for) so for her to say that she must have been really confident.

No not in the US I'm in England. The hospital I had my scan in just don't do gender at the anatomy scans. They will tell you to book in for gender scan at a hospital down the road if you want to find out and you have to pay for it. This is just the policy for this particular hospital, many others in England will tell gender at anatomy scan and do not charge.

They had lost a little girl at birth a few years ago. He told me yesterday they got their panorama back and it's a little girl! I seriously cried for him; and I don't even know them!! hitme, I've always hoped I'd be pregnant alongside a friend. So cool! You have an awesome family :)

Taytum, seeing your little one makes me want to go get a sono <3.

mandy, So sorry you didn't hear pink but congrats on your new little guy.

babypink, I was kind of the opposite when I found out DS3 was another boy. I took it really hard and was determined then and there we would have a fourth. Wouldn't change him for the world, but I'm still hoping this one is pink. I start thinking about HT and adoption if this one is a boy, but I think DH is definitely done. We live in a really HCOL area and I don't know many who have 4 kids, let alone more.

Hitme I am pregnant with 2 friends and 2 SILs for the first time. My friends are due end jan and mid feb and expecting their 2nd girl and 2nd boy respectively and my SILs are due 10 days before me and 10 days after me. I cannot wait to see the little heads of the cousins playing together. There will be 11 of them 5 and under. Both of my SIL have 2boys and are hoping for girls. None of the ladies believe in swaying. I tried to tell them.

Welcome Pink!

Last night I finally had a decent sleep. My last thoughts were this time next year, or soon after, I'll be flying to California for my daughter. Now i can just focus on this current pregnancy and the family I've built so far. Gender disappointment and gender desire are so strong sometimes that we really get taken away from what we have right in front of us.

Pearl our 2 current sons and also our expected son all have cousins within 6 months of age. They love it and are really close friends!

Especially after spending more time on this site I think swaying is not for everyone. Even without swaying you always have a chance at either sex and I think some people are much more disappointed by a failed sway then they would be if they had just gotten the same sex again without trying.
I mean don't get me wrong I think this site is fantastic and I think Atomic really knows her stuff but I can understand people who would choose not to sway.

I said no more after my 3rd and I'm now pregnant with number 5 ha ha, kids are a blessing and I always think I would never regret having more but might regret not.

You got me thinking about a 4th for a split second, and now I'm back to thinking that's crazy! We both come from small families so three already felt like a big family. I'm not ruling out the possibility though. I just need to be prepared for a 4th boy before I make that decision.

Sorry Mandy.

Congrats dreaming.

Baby pink I think the nub is online with the spine but does look slightly stacked. Do you have anymore pics?

That's what I see too, but I also think that nub is 100% shaped like a boy. I have a gender u/s on Monday to confirm gender and I'm totally expecting to hear boy.

If it is a boy, I still think this nub is kinda flat. Agreed it's not like a typical girl nub, but still. I'm glad it's not just me that sees that though.
I know this family of three boys that I admire, and even had me wishing for a third boy. I often found myself admiring all her pictures and thinking how awesome 3 boys must be. I also know a family of 2 boys 1 girl, and I kinda felt sad, like that little girl wouldn't have her same-sex sibling. Her pictures never really caught my attention as much as the 3 boys. Before seeing this nub I swore I'd be happy (possibly even happier) to have a boy. Now I can shake the feeling of missing out on a girl. I guess I felt that 3 boys looked good on HER and not exactly what I wanted for me. Oh stupid feelings. Why don't they ever make sense?!!!

Feelings are very confusing I agree. I think it's good you feel like this though as either way you are seeing the positive aspects of either gender on your future family. I feel similar in that I think seeing my ds with a brother would be a delight. I want a girl more selfishly for me as I feel ds would have a better bond with a brother. You never can tell though. What will be will be. I do think your baby's nub looks flat though.

I think there was a baby boom during yalls months. I go to the doctor for my fist ultrasounds Oct 28th. I will be 8 weeks! Currently 6 weeks.

Congratulations on your sweet boy! :)

Healthygirl, your baby look right in the middle! I will say though, my sisters ultrasound tech said they recently went to a conference and learned that if the Ramzi method is determined correctly its 97% accurate. I still can't trust it though!lol I will says both of my boys were on right. My sisters girl was on left. Her baby boy was on the right. And her friend recently had a boy on the right. again, I know it's probably not always accurate but still fun to guess! :)

DH keeps saying he thinks he saw three lines. Not gonna lie, at this point I'll be sad if they say it's not a boy. I'm already growing to love my little family of three boys. I read online that 14 weeks can still be too early, and considering I was always measuring a couple days behind I'm technically still in my 13th week. I know it's best to wait till the anatomy scan to confirm but I'm already in full planning mode! Oh, and we are now seriously discussing going for a fourth [emoji51][emoji4]

Going for number 4 is fun too. No one expects it :)

DH is still wanting to go for a sister for this little one but I keep telling him I'm done. I'm determined to leave this all behind and be happy now. On a brighter note I bought 2 little pink outfits today. (Finally lol. It's taken me a while!). It still feels a bit wrong though. I just can't believe I am actually going to have a girl. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it came out with a penis lol. Also feeling lots of movement finally which is so cool :) Can't see my belly jumping around though yet. This little one is so gentle!

Anyway that's enough rambling from me :). Good night everyone xx

Good luck with it all. I will honestly say that I found my first baby the hardest to adapt to, baby 2,3 and 4 just fit right in to the routine and I really didn't "notice" the extra work as much as I thought I would which is why I'm not ruling out a 6th lol. I will see how life is with baby no5 here and make my decision from there but I do think once you get into the realms of a big family any additional children just slot in really.

Atsaukina1
October 14th, 2015, 12:29 PM
Bigger family are just more work no doubt about it. I have been feeling horrible, hubs is out of town, and kids still need to be fed, taken to school, ect. It is feeling really hard right now as I have zero family here to help and only aquantices no friends so no one I would ask to be a sitter. This is def. Our last as I am not having kids in my 40s. A lot easier being prego at 21 w zero kids than 38 w 5 lol that's for sure.

Girl, I cannot imagine!! So where do you live and where do they live? Do they come visit when the babies are first born??

My MIL lives across the street and SIl lives behind us. Most would hate it, but we love it. I call my MIL my personal assistant.haha My parents and sister and brother are very involved too, so that's always nice. I'm a teacher but we don't have to pay child care or anything. I just walk them across the street to my MIL's house. She has dinner prepared when I get home. I'm spoiled rotten. I hope to stay at home when number three gets here though!! Atsaukina that must be really tough and I can imagine a bit lonely for adult company when your DH is away. I hope you get lots of visitors to help you out when baby arrives

How early is too early for Braxton hicks. I think I'm having mild ones already.

I usually start getting them around 14 weeks. I've been getting them for a few weeks already. Not too bad yet but if I do something like lift my 2 year old or even just stretch out on my back when I'm laying down I can set them off.

It is definitely not too early for Braxton hicks Hitme, I think we can get them all the way through pregnancy just most of us don't start feeling them that early

OK ladies if you know the sex already can you please put your information into the spreadsheet. You will find the link on the New Complete Pink swaying statistics thread or Blue swaying statistics thread. We have to do this to help the next lot of swayers out :).

It's super easy - just multiple choice and doesn't take long at all :)
