Hi ladies,
So I'm 5"5 and 170lbs. I have pcos as well. I am swaying boy and just learned more about the HE diet.
My question is what do I do since being an overweight woman with pcos, my dr advices me to lose weight , eat low cal and basically do everything that would sway pink...
Also, if I do get preggers than I risk gestitial diabetics, as well as higher chances of miscarriages.
Should I not lose weight, eat HE(and even gain more weight) and continue ttc for a boy?!
Or can I eat high calorie but still exercise to burn fat...is that is considered HE?
So confused ...,,HELP!!!!!!

Hello blue! Some of the long-timers will have to chime in to give you more specific answer (like whether you should gain weight and such) but I wanted to chime in and hopefully relax your nerves :) Do you have any LOs already?
I am also 5' 5" with PCOS and my weight has been drastically different with each TTC. Until a couple years ago I was considered "morbidly obese". I DREAM of the day I weigh what you do, lol ;) Anyway, I have had 3 boys (all before getting my PCOS under control) so PCOS actually might work in your favor to TTC a boy! Atomic always says that PCOS makes for a boy friendly environment (not a quote, more like a paraphrase). How bad is your PCOS? Do you chart at all? Hormone levels? All this info can help us to help you :)
I don't know much about what a boy sway looks like but I know for me, when I was cranking out boys I ate a lot of pasta and meat. Meat was in every meal but pasta made it stretch farther (i.e. calories +protein) and it was usually hamburger or some other sort of red meat (which is high in fat)... basically the exact opposite of what I am doing now to sway girl (low cal, low protein, low fat, etc. thus the name "low everything").
Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but with what little I know about a boy sway, swaying blue with PCOS is totally doable... prob even without gaining a ton of weight, which as most with PCOS know is all too easy to do and losing it is a monster, lol. Focus on your meats for protein, esp red meats as they are high in fat, and dairy is a great source of protein, fat, carbs, cals... pretty much everything (which given the "high everything" name I am assuming this is the goal) and won't make your blood sugar go all nutso.
Definitely read this!!: http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-general-discussion/9052-swaying-under-special-circumstances-part-3-pcos.html
PCOS kinda changes the rules on us but we can still sway :)

Oh and to get the diet portion you'll have to read a ways down, but it's there. :) I think your diet would be the "atomic fertility diet".

Have you got a plan? Money well spent as this is adapted specifically to you and your needs and takes into consideration your lifestyle, medication, etc.
Again, I don't know much about the boy diet apart from what was said above but cardio and weights and Preseed have helped some.

I would do the moderate exercise and HE diet but without gaining weight, instead try to convert fat to muscle. But I agree, a personalized plan is probably ideal for your complex situation.

Two options -
1)If you are not in a super huge hurry to TTC, you can take a few months, lose some weight (but I would still have you eating a good diet with lots of protein and fruit and veg) , and then try to do HE modified to hold steady where you're at after dieting. It is a very good idea for you to exercise doing lots of weight training as you go, this enables you to maintain and possibly even build muscle while you lose weight.
2)Or, if you're in a hurry to TTC, you can start off doing HE Diet in the modified form which is protein and healthy fat and fruit and veg, but without grains and potatoes and sweets. Aim to hold steady where you are and do weight training so you are holdiing steady on weight and building muscle at the same time. Yes, yes, yes do exercise so you can burn some cals. 45 min. cardio 4 days a week, weight training 4 days a week at a different time of day than you do cardio if they fall on the same day, and on days you do both, do arms so you aren't taxing your leg muscles too much. Don't worry about small amounts of weight loss in this case.
DO NOT gain more weight!
