View Full Version : Can I sway if we are doing IUI?

My husband and I cannot conceive without IUI/IVF. (My husband had radiation and now has azoospermia, so the only sperm we have to work with are the samples we had frozen prior to his treatments).

We have 3 boys and are trying for one more child to complete our family. While any baby would be a blessing (our viewpoint after dealing with infertility is probably different than most), we would really love a girl. (OK, mostly I would really love a girl)

Is there any point in trying to do diet or any of the other things if we have to use IUI or IVF? (We used IUI previously so hopefully that will work this time...if not we MIGHT try IVF, but we are still undecided. Even if we were to decide to do IVF, we would not consider PGD so I'm talking about other sway tactics, not high tech ones)

IUI does sway blue but in your particular case considering the sperm issues, it should sway less blue than usual or even pink. You doing diet and exercise for 12w minimum before TTC will do much to sway pink. If you have one IUI per cycle, that's like one attempt which is also pink friendly. If you can get Clomid or Femara to take during your TTC cycles, that will further strengthen your pink sway significantly and give you a great shot combined with diet & exercise.

If you end up going to IVF, thrn you'll want to completely drop swaying as what sways pink when TTC naturally isn't good for IVF success and there's no way to sway IVF, just PGD for gender selection.

How much does he have left???

My concern with IUI for you guys is that it is rather low odds of conception and if IVF is an option, that is going to give you higher rates of conception while using less of the reserves.

Do they do Clomid or Femara plus IUI?? Those medications do seem to sway pink so if these are an option instead of the injectibles or au natural that may be something to consider.

If you do IUI, what I would do is have you do "atomic fertility diet" and either take only folic/folate (no prenatals) or else switch prenatals to 3x a week if you aren't comfortable with that. You could also do cardio exercise 60 min. a day, 4-7 days a week. (AFD is in this thread, 5 from the top, and you can do it even if you don't have PCOS, I put it in this thread because most people who use it have PCOS) http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-general-discussion/9052-swaying-under-special-circumstances-part-3-pcos.html

Thanks ladies!

We have 8 samples left, so definitely enough to try IUIs first. We actually had our RE consult yesterday and he said he definitely wants us to try IUIs first. We might consider moving to IVF, but only if we have a few failed IUIs. I would like to avoid IVF if possible.

I am going to be using injectables (follistim) as that is what worked for us last time. We had tried clomid/femara for a couple of cycles, but it didn't work. Its more important to do my best to have an other child than to sway.

I will look into the diet you mentioned above. Cardio is no problem, I'm already working out 5 days a week. Does this mean to skip the strength training?

I'm thinking of just purchasing a tailored plan to make it easy on myself, but I'm not sure if its worth it to buy the whole thing when I obviously can't control timing.

:agree: Got it, that's great!! Some people have very few samples to work with so excellent that there are so many.

The injectibles are more reliable so that's all good. :)

Timing is about the least thing I do in a custom plan - it's everything tailored to your situation and then additionally comes with the 6 months of coaching where I answer your posts every day. While sometimes I can do the free forums every day or two or three, other times it can take me a week to get back with you so if time is of the essence, the custom coaching that comes with the plan means you always get priority. (I will help you no matter what of course!! I help everyone the best I can regardless of ability to pay.)

I would skip strength training and focus on cardio.
