View Full Version : Am I doing something wrong?

So I posted about this a while back, but I hadn't started cardio yet. Well, I started my cardio a week ago (5-6 weeks until our first attempt) and am doing 65-70 minutes on the elliptical - and I would say it's pretty intense. I have not dropped ANY weight on the diet and now I'm even holding steady while doing the cardio. I'm sticking to 1500-1800 calories, but have had some days where I've gone over on fat, but not always calories. I'm eating a lot of pop-tarts, white bread, gummy bears, sugar... you get the picture. :-D I'm sticking to two meals and not snacking.
I'm 116 lbs, 5'4, so not overweight, but I feel like I should be dropping at least something. Could it be my body holding on to the calories, or is it possible that I'm insulin-resistant? Do you guys have suggestions on what I should do? I don't want to try the PCOS diet (have no history of any problems of that sort) if it's going to harm my sway, but I also would like to lose even a pound if it means it could help. I'm just discouraged!
As a side note, does taking fiber apart from a meal raise your blood sugar?

I'm inclined to believe that your body is holding on to any fat stored. I'm your height, but roughly 10lbs heavier and am not even dropping weight doing an hour cardio myself. I wouldn't sweat it! You don't *need* to lose weight for you to sway. The cardio itself will sway.

I don't WANT you losing any weight at that BMI so please continue what you're doing.
Yes, normally I would have a person switch to an alternate diet but at 116 lbs I don't even want you to lose any weight. I think you should keep ddoing what you're doing. If you gain weight, we can rethink it but I am not wanting you to stop your ovulation.
that having been said, are you getting the 40-50 g protein and the 30-60 g fat? ANd enough potassium?? Remember, this is about more than just calories, you need to be monitoring all those things too. It is LOW nutrient, not NO nutrient, and you should definitely include some fruits and vegetables in your diet as well to be sure you are still geting trace nutrients you need to survive. Woman does not live on Pop Tarts alone. :)

:agree: I'm also 5-4 and it takes an act of God to get me below 120. My body just doesn't like to be there. Even when I was exercising 90 minutes a day I didn't get below 120 except for like a week and I couldn't stick there.

Oh and fiber needs to be with a meal because that's the time when it benefits you. Don't take it apart from a meal, only with meals containing fat or Vit. A, D, E, or K

Yep! If swaying has taught me anything it's that my body loves the 125lb range and I'm okay with that. ;) Before I started swaying, I was 133lbs-ish, running for 30 mins and doing weights. As soon as I bumped up the cardio and stopped weights, I could see my body change over the course of 4 months by losing my definition. I'm sure that a majority of weight I have lost has been muscle. The LE calories are very safe, so if you're not losing, then there's a reason for that and I definitely wouldn't push it. Sway healthy and stay happy. Woo!

What can I say? I've always had a secret love for pop tarts ;)
I am having a tough time with protein, but not fat. Protein is around 35 most days. The only thing I can find to add protein without fat is egg whites...and aren't those generally not recommended?
If I'm eating around 1500 cal, isn't 40 g fat pretty high?

Not enough!!! Got to be 40 g minimum.
In Dream Member section there is a thread called quick fixes for diet disasters which you need to read - I am in super hurry right now and can't post link but it's in the LE Diet section of DM.
egg whites are fine for pink!!!
