I'm sure it's been posted elsewhere, but searching for "cardio" has too many results :) I've been working out over 60 minutes on the elliptical, it's usually 70 mins... does this extra time help at all, or is anything past 60 mins kinda pointless?
Thx!

Don't go too much past the 60min mark as you can enter the blue zone. 7in should be fine.

Without getting into to much detail, over training caused the muscle to be preserved. This is not our goal on the LE diet. We are trying to decrease our lean muscle a bit, hence cardio only. I would avoid intense cardio as this can build lean muscle too.

So is doing interval cardio considered intense? Like when you jog for one minute then walk fast for 2 minutes for the whole hour

I would say no. Just watch your muscle mass. Some people like me need to do a little more than just walking to lose weight. Once your metabolism gets kicked into higher gear, you may find doing less gives results too. You just have to play with it and see for your body. Intense for you may be at a different level than someone else, yk?

I do interval jogging and my muscle mass was reduced a lot when I bumped it from 30 to 60 mins. Go by your physical cues. I could see my body becoming leaner, so I knew what I was doing was working.

Whoops I think we're having some confusion here - overtraining SHRINKS muscle and more is only better.
In fact, as long as you have gotten the 60 min. block in you can even add in more exercise a different time of day even if you can't get up to 60 min the second time.

I mostly walk pushing a double jogging stroller and will jog every so often for 60 minutes a day and atomic has said that's fine. That why I don't worry if later in the day I do like intense cleaning or walk somewhere else.
