Got first positive opk on sunday 5th july and temp rise on Friday 10th July. Was using clear blue digital ovulation test and got first smiley on the Sunday. Bd monday. Assumed had ovulated as you are supposed to ovulated usually 12 -48 hours after first smiley face. Bd again Wednesday night 8th July.

Not charting as just had second miscarriage in a row (12 weeks and 10 weeks losses) 3 weeks ago. Got temp shift only on Friday but only taking temps around ovulation time.

This is first cycle after miscarriage and got bfp on first response preg test today ( faint but positive).

Just wondering was it a one attempt or a two attempt? J and d 5 minutes after both attempts

Light sway only as only had 4 weeks of exercise, light diet ( heart not in it as had gone all out for last lost pregnancy)

4 boys

I would consider this 2 attempts.

If your temp shift didn't actually occur until Friday then there is pretty much no way the BDing from Monday counted- I mean that is O-5 so I would consider it only 1 attempt personally.

Thanks for replies - I just read somewhere that it can take up to 48 hours for thermal shift and sometimes 3 days - just surprised at clear blue digital test - ovulation occurring 4/5 days after first smiley face ?

Dh wanted second attempt and thought I was safe with the clear blue digital. He had stopped taking LR for those 2 days and had way more stuff ( sorry for tmi). Hope jump and dump after 5 minutes helps!

I agree it's pretty unlikely that the first attempt counted but I would consider BD Mon. night (which is when I'm assuming it was) to still be in with a shot. Le'ts say one and a half. ;)

Wouldn't it be O-3 (so 2 attempts in this case)? If the temp shift was Friday and ovulation was Thursday, Monday is 3 days before that? I'm not trying to prove you wrong or anything, just making sure I'm planning my BD using the correct calculations for my own sway ;)

That would be exactly how I would determine it. The good thing is we just never know for sure so we shouldn't stress :)

You're right it would be O-4 or O-3 depending on if ovulation was Thursday or Friday. I think when I originally read the post I was thinking ovulation was Friday and I personally wouldn't be worrying about a Sunday attempt. But since ovulation was probably Thursday it would be 2 attempts, as atomic said.

I think the easiest thing to do is just BD every 4 days, then you don't need to worry about it. :)

That's kind of what I think too but we can't really know what time O occured. I'll stick with 1 and 1/2. :)

Im betting with such an early BFP you ovulated a little earlier than temps indicate :) maybe it was a slow rise !!

I was gonna say maybe that is from 1st attempt or you did O early because that's a super early positive. I can faintly see mine at 8-9 and that's early too. Either way congrats. My opks are driving me crazy right now lol

Thanks again for all your replies. Just not going to try and emotionally invest in this pregnancy until at least 20 weeks because of last two.

Just doing more research this morning and read on fertilityplus website that:

Q: I did and ovulation predictor kit, how long after the positive should my BBT rise?

A: You should ovulate 12-48 hours after the positive ovulation predictor test, and your BBTs should go up within 48 hours of ovulating. It can take up to 4-5 days to see the rise, but ideally you see it within 3.

Trying to find some medical research on bbt but its all a bit old and vague with small no.s doing studies.

As u said true blue we can't know for sure.

anyways did a clearblue digital pregnancy test this morning and it says 1-2 weeks pregnant at 12 dpo which i think means 3-4 pregnant really. will do another one next week to make sure hcg is increasing.

again just hoping for a healthy pregnancy - dh foiled my sway!!! you'd think i would know better after years trawling on this website.

thanks again ladies - it's a man's world!
