Hi
I didn't ovulate this month and I'm anxiously waiting for af, I must be on about cd 40 now!!! Has anyone been in this situation, when did af arrive? I'm wondering whether to go to doctors but I'm not sure what I'd say as this is of my own doing (no ovulation as such a lot of weight loss on girl diet and I am now really under weight) Any help appreciated, thanks

I can't say I can relate swish, as I'm not losing enough weight, but it does sound like some amount of minor weight gain may help regulate your cycle. Are you taking any supps that may interfere with your cycle? Could you stop those? Are you temping - is that how you know you didn't O?

I've been in your shoes many cycles. I looked back at my cycles on fertility friend and a couple examples are I ovulated on day 49 and 62. I would always get af 13 or so days after I ovulated. I always did ovulate they were just crazy long cycles. I did that for almost a year before I started Femara. It worked wonderfully and I would ovulate with it on days 14-20. And with it I didn't have to be monitored for follicles etc., which is nice. Are you monitoring your cycles to know exactly whats happening? Charting with fertility friend really helps. Also, when I was in my early 20's I had lost a lot of weight and my cycles stopped all together. So that might be going on with you to. You have to have a certain percentage of body fat to be able to ovulate. Hope that helps! :)

I wish I could help you swish.
Couldnīt you ask your dr. saying that you wanted to loose weight for the summer, then lost too much, without speaking about swaying? Maybe they could give you BC pill for one month so you have a cycle again?
It must be sooo frustrating, Iīm so sorry.

Thanks for the replies.
Sassy, I'm trying to gain weight but not doing that well!! I really struggle to put on weight generally. I'm not taking any supplements now so I think it is just the weight loss.
Indira, I'm worried about saying anything like that to the doctor, I'm just not sure what to do for the best!!
Angie, that's really helpful, thanks!! My cycles were regular and normal until I started swaying. I am monitoring my cycles but I didn't temp properly this time as I find my temps so wacky last cycle it confused me, now I'm wondering whether I ovulated last cycle as my period lasted for about 10 days (normally 4/5). The other thing I thought was if I had a chemical last cycle could this have caused my cycle this month to be messed up?

I don't think you have to say too much at all swish, just that you're ttc and you don't think you ovulated this cycle and you don't know what's going on. If they ask whether you've lost weight recently then you tell them that you have and that you've been trying to put a bit back on - tell the truth without telling them anything you don't feel comfortable with! Good luck, I hope they're understanding.

You don't need to lie, just don't tell them anything you don't want to - like when you're explaining something to the kids :D

I agree with Z - you don't need to overshare. If he/she asks what you've been eating could always say you've been trying out a vegetarian diet (which is technically the truth so you won't be lying), and that will explain any low iron levels they find in your bloodwork.

I don't see the concern in telling your doctor the truth. I was honest with mine and she thought it was kind of silly but said that there was a bit of logic to some of it. It's not like they can stop you from being able to get pregnant because they don't like your plan. You are entitled to try to have the gender you desire. Many people do far worse things to their body for no reason at all. I don't think you should feel ashamed or embarrassed for trying to take control of your destiny (sorry for being so melodramatic :drama:).

I think swish is vegetarian anyway!
Good luck today x

Oops - you were already vegetarian, swish? I guess you must have mentioned that on another thread somewhere and I either missed it or read too quickly:sigh:

Thanks girls!! Doc was really lovely and didn't ask me any difficult questions thankfully. They see doing blood tests and a vaginal ultrasound so I'm having the full works!

Good you're getting onto it now - no point hanging around hoping it will right itself when there may be a very quick remedy! Crossing my fingers for you.

I am on cd 36 and I haven't o'd yet. I stopped SP Monday in hopes that was my problem. But I have lost a lot of weight so am worried about that being the cause. Good luck and hope you get some answers.

Please don't worry too much because occasionally having a long cycle is totally normal and happens to all of us now and then, whether from stress, exercise, weight loss, etc.
It is VERY likely that this sudden irregularity may be a sign that the sway is working for you. You want to slightly suppress your fertility.
