Hi Dr.Potter,
I'm a former local patient of yours from 2008. Our little girl is 2 now and we had success with one cycle of IVF/MS/PGD. At that time our son was 3 (bfp 2nd cycle) and I had one early m/c in 07 (bfp 1st try) both conceived naturally and we had no fertility issues in 08. We have two awesome kids but after having my daughter I just knew I wanted one more child! I'm 31 now and we decided to TTC naturally of course sometime this year.
Recently my husband, fatigued, tired, moody, and feeling depressed went to his PCP.
A CBC revealed his Testosterone level at 179 at the age of 37. His PCP has prescribed Androgel which prompted me to look into this medication as he was told that women and children should not come in contact with this gel.
My husband was not aware that this TRT could significantly impact his fertility or decrease his own production of testosterone. Frankly, I'm panicking. I'm not comfortable with his rubber stamp diagnoses.
He has not yet taken this medication. I'm looking for referrals to a Urologist or an Endo doc that can think outside of the box to *preserve his fertility if possible???*
I read clomid is prescribed off label for men to stimulate testosterone levels and preserve fertility for men who still want to father children???
Any thoughts or referrals? I'm local in south OC.*
*
It should be noted that prior to the CBC his PCP prescribed Pristique . He wasn't noticing any change and was feeling worse. This prompted me to encourage him to go back to his PCP and inquire about his thyroid or any other possible issues. His PCP increased his Pristique dosage and ordered the CBC . He is feeling worse. His Thyroid is fine.*Thank you in advance for any insight or referrals you might have.*
