View Full Version : All Signs Point to One Gender But Had The Other?

Hi All! I am due in March 2016, and swayed for a boy. I thought I did a pretty decent job swaying (although in hindsight, maybe I could have done more on diet, etc.). Anyhow, all signs are pointing to another DD for me - our first scan leaned girl via Ramzi theory (at 8w5d), and we just had another ultrasound today at 11w4d. I asked the OB/GYN her thoughts on gender, and she said the nub angle indicated "girl" (I was surprised she said anything at all, but she's the type not to offer a guess unless she is really sure!). My pregnancy has been the same in terms of symptoms as DD1, Chinese calendar says girl, skull theory says girl, etc.
Just wondering - did anyone have all the signs point to girl and have a boy? I'm trying to come to grips with having two girls, but a part of me wants to keep a glimmer of hope alive!

Well for me, my Ramzi photo leaned girl, I've been nauseous, which I wasn't with my first two boys, getting headaches, …both symptoms that didn't come with the first two. Baking soda test (silly) said girl, ring test (silly) said girl. But I'm 99% sure this is my third boy from my nub shots.
My first son's nub shots looked VERY girly at 11.5 weeks. Chinese gender chart is all over the place for me, just depends on the chart you're using. So I'd venture to say with you, 11 weeks is too early to tell on the U/S, and every pregnancy is different. Good luck!

I hear that Ramzi is not very accurate at all, and I KNOW that the nub theory is not accurate at 11w. Not at all. Most babies (boys and girls) look like girls that early. Then in little boys the nub rises. Yes you COULD be having a girl...but nothing have proven that as of yet.

I think you have a great shot unless you've had a gender scan. Apart from that, don't trust symptoms, Ramzi theory, or even a nub guess earlier than 13 weeks.
Ramzi theory pointed to girl for me during this pregnancy and the nub shot wasn't a nub at all- we saw a clear bat and balls at 13.5 weeks!!
FX and GL to you!!!

Nub shots do not work at 11w4 d. Boys and girls are IDENTICAL at that gestation and your OB was wrong to guess because she should know better. I guess she was just humoring you by making a guess??
THe Y chromosome does not start producing testosterone until about the 10th week and only at that point do the male genitals even begin to form. This process takes about 3 weeks to become obvious on an ultrasound and in the 11th week all babies look like girls. This is a fact that will be corroborated by any ultrasound tech.
Symptoms do not predict gender for the same reason. In early pregnancy the Y chromosome is dormant and not even doing anything (no testosterone is being made) and thus your symptoms have nothing to do with your baby's gender.
If the Chinese calendar worked, there would not be orphanages full of unwanted baby girls.
My DS2 and DD were very similar pregnancies. My other three DS were all very different from each other and the other two. So at least for me, the only two similar pregnancies were different genders.

All 'signs' point to this baby being another boy for me too but my OB insists it's a girl, each and every time I ask him, which, for the record, is every visit!! I'm sure a boy is going to pop out! I'm carrying the same way as both my boys just a ball out the front, clumsy, exact same cravings, Chinese gender predictor says boy etc. so no I really don't believe in the OWT's anymore. The ONLY thing different is I do have a 'V' in my right eye that has been there since day one and I never had this with either boys. It is so distinct and has been there every single day! Much to my surprise!
Good luck and FX! I think you have a very good chance you're growing your precious son in there :-)))

Thanks everyone! I guess I just have this inner instinct that its a girl and feel like I'm not lucky enough to be the fluke that goes against the grain on every theory! Or maybe what I'm doing is telling myself it's a girl, so that I can be prepared and get adjusted to the whole thing. I'm trying to think of all the upsides to having two girls (cute sister relationship, sharing clothes, not having to deal with different departments/sports etc. our whole lives).
The funny thing is that DH is taking it all in stride, and would be so happy either way. He says if all our swaying failed, God really just meant it to be! I'll keep you all updated. We have our official NT scan next week, so maybe we'll get some clarity then!

I am in a similar boat to you :(
Swayed for a girl and everything so far is pointing to another boy, this pregnancy is just like my first 2
I just so wish I had just something that would give me a glimmer of hope of having a girl in my tummy
All the best for you
And I will keep my fingers cross that you get your boy!!

Ramzi said boy for my second DD and the Chinese Calendar was opposite with both.

Well, just had my NT scan at 12w3d and it's definitely a girl! Textbook girl nub, and even the Doc said 85-90% girl. I guess all the old wive's tales and theories proved right for me. I will come to terms with it eventually - just happy she's healthy. I wanted a boy with DD1 too, and I love her to pieces, so I am sure it will be the same thing.

12 weeks 3 days is too early for a nub shot. I agree it looks girly but could still rise.
I would just like to reiterate strongly to whoever is out there reading this - just because one person says OWT and feelings were right for them or they are right for you in one pregnancy - it doesn't mean they will be right for you or anyone else or will be right in another pregnancy. Baby's gender is a coin flip so it's possible to have the "signs" point one way and have hte opposite gender.
With my 3rd son I had all the signs and symptoms and feelings and Chinese Gender calendar, etc etc etc were girl, girl, girl and he is a boy. This stuff just doesn't work and I do not want anyone to look at this one thread as any kind of proof or evidence to the contrary because it just isn't the case.

Sorry, I have been so silent - we were just processing that we were likely to have a girl. Anyway, we just had our 20 week anatomy scan and it turns out we are having a BOY!! We are absolutely stunned and over the moon. I am almost having reverse gender disappointment because we had gotten so used to the idea of having two girls. Part of me won't believe it until he is born. Potty shot below! Hope the doctor isn't wrong this time. He was pretty sheepish and said we fell into the 10% late bloomer club where nub theory is just wrong.

I am quoting myself here not to say I told you so, but for ALL the other people out there who may stumble upon this thread.
11 weeks is TOO EARLY to guess gender. 12 weeks 3 days is TOO EARLY to guess gender. It's not because baby is shy or anything like that, it's because that is how fetuses develop - all babies look girly until at the barest minimum into the 12th week, and late 12th week into 13th/14th is the only reliable time for nubs. 11 weeks is not accurate at all because all babies look like girls. Early 12th week also not accurate because many boys' genitals have not started to develop yet.

10% late bloomer club?? These are the statements made by "experts" that make me tear out my hair. They should know better. Nubs are not accurate at 11 weeks ANY OF THEM. Early 12th week, barely accurate (and that is only obvious boys, not a baby that looks like a girl because nub can still rise). Late 12th week, somewhat accurate.
That baby is all boy. Doctor was wrong to say what they said in the first place. Not wrong this time.

Thanks everyone! We feel a bit sheepish because we jumped the gun and told everyone it was a girl (my sister even ordered pink baby shower decorations!).. It honestly feels like God just played divine intervention here. I am glad no one is doubting the boy potty shot though- I look at it all the time just to make sure I am not dreaming this up!

My girl everyone thought was a boy.I didn't have sonos but just by how I was carrying and all superstitions. My friend who had sonos was told girk l up until 20+ week scan. Oops its a boy lol. I really hate to see moms stressing these early scans:( if it is a girl shell have the best big sister:)
