I take levocetrizine all year round, as I have all sorts of allergies. I take them as soon as I wake up, along with my other meds. In the description it says to be careful with alcohol, but it doesn't way why. I know AS advices not to have alcohol while on cetrizine, but since I'm taking it all year round and hardly ever drink, I was wondering if it is really that harmful if I have a drink every now and then? Tonight we have a bbq and I would like to have some smirnoff. Is it a big no no or can I have some once a week or even less?

You will be fine. Just make sure to take the levocetirizine well before you drink. I wouldn't get drunk, but 1-2 drinks will be fine.
The warning is because it can make people drowsy and some people are really sensitive to alcohol.
My Pharmacist always says casually drinking is ok if you take your allergy medicine well ahead of when you will be drinking. When it is first absorbed is when most people feel sleepy.
Have fun!!

Thanks, I needed to hear that! I take my pills in the morning and will only be drinking tonight, so should be enough time in between. I do get drowsy real quick from alcohol yes, but I won't be driving or anything like that, so I'll be fine. I'll just get sleepy real early lol.

As long as you're used to it and have someone wiht you in case you react badly then it is ok.
I do sometimes have a drink after taking cetirizine for allergies and it doesn't seem to affect me negatively but once in college I drank (too much but not that much) after taking a cold medication and it was extremely terrible! So be careful.

Only saw this now! I think I'll be fine with just one drink, but I can imagine it getting really bad with more drinks. I get very sleepy after one glass and if I were to drink more I'd probably tip over.

I do think that many of us get more used to the cetirizine over time like you and I who actually have to take it for allergies. I do think it makes me sleepier when I've had to take my medicine and then had a drink, than it does if I just had a drink!
