View Full Version : Hoping for a baby girl

Hello ladies,
I am a 36 year old mommy to a beautiful son! Due to my age, I can probably only have one more baby! I always wanted a daughter and hope to become pregnant with a girl. I started on the LE diet 2 months ago and have added calcium and magnesium to my diet. I have lost a few pounds. We tried to conceive the past 3 months with a cut off of 5-3 days and it didn't work. I contacted to Ericsson fertility clinic in MI and they perscribed clomid for girl conception. However, after reading the statistics, I am not convinced and I don't think I will be going to MI. I started the clomid yesterday by cutting it in half, 25 mg. I am also monitoring ph, drinking crystal lite and low protein diet. My DH is trying to abstain for 7 days and we hope to ttc only once this cycle on O day. I started my husband on licorice room post AF and he's drinking soy milk. I drink 1-2 cups of coffee and have wine occasionally!I decreased my sodium intake. Please let me know if this a good sway? I am really nervous about taking this clomid and almost regret it! I am worried it will do harm. Please share advice and experiences with me! I just want to increase my chances and not harm self or possible baby!

Hi and welcome!
Licorice root is only recommended for DHs that are under 35 years old. How old is your DH? Most of us have our DHs taking olive leaf extract, which seems to improve sperm health while swaying girl at the same time. Abstain, frequent release, O+12, and cut offs are not really recommended any more either. The biggest BD success for swaying girl seems to be with having one attempt in the fertile window.
Most current girl swayers here on Gender Dreaming are doing:
* LE diet for at least 12 weeks before attempt which is 1500-1800 calories, 40-50g protein, and 30-60g fat a day.
* Skipping breakfast.
* No snacking.
* Fiber supplement with meals.
* 60 minutes of cardio daily OR nothing at all.
* 1 attempt in fertile window (by BD every 4 days OR by BD once at +opk)
* Folic acid or folate only.
* Clomid if you can get it.
* Alcohol and caffeine daily.
* Olive leaf extract for DH.
* Licorice root for DH (only if under 35 years old with no blood pressure issues).
Most have stopped doing antihistamines, Rephresh/Replens/Sylk, jump and dump, PH stuff, saw palmetto, and even vitex as they don't seem to sway much and only make conception harder.
Good luck!

Thank you ladies for the info! My husband is 36 so I guess we should stop the licorice root I stopped the clomid after just one pill because I am not under the direct observation of my doctor, it was from a fertility clinic miles away! I want to talk to my OB-GYN first! I think im just going to stick to the LE diet, as hard as it is, and do one attempt only this month! I read really bad possible birth defects from clomid and got scared! On the the note about alcohol, I thought it was bad to drink alcohol for girl sway? I love love to be able to drink white wine , I have a few weddings coming up! Is it ok to have white wine or low calorie drinks ???
Also, is vitex a good option as oppose to clomid? Thank you ladies, it's so nice to have support out there

Hi and welcome!
That Clomid is GOLD for pink swaying, if you aren't taking it, get the prescription filled and hang onto it. We have lots of gals take it without the direct supervision of a doc
Clomid does not cause birth defects. I have discussed this at length with reproductive endocrinologists and we all agree that is coincidence, because the women who are given Clomid for PCOS or other fertility issues are more likely to have kids with birth defects due to their other health/fertility issues and NOT because the Clomid causes birth defects. It won't even be in your system any more by the time ovulation occurs, let alone pregnancy itself.
The idea that alcohol swayed blue was based on poor info from one of the other sites. We have been using it quite successfully on here and yes white wine is great! Some do rum and diet coke, diet sprite and Seagrams, cran juice and vodka, whatever you like. I drank light beer when I got my girl.

Tell me more about why you think the diet is hard because many times I find out it is because there's been a misunderstanding and people have cut back too far when they say this. It's supposed to be easy to follow.

Hi Atomic,
I think the diet is hard because I am not eating much meat, no red meat, or salty things ;and if so its very little chicken every 2-3 days. I am mostly eating salads with no tomato's and yogurt and berries. I don't eat much else and I am starting to lose more weight. I don't want to increase my calories and mess up my sway. Its been tough not eating salty things, because I love salty stuff. I have been mostly eating vegetables and fruits, low fat dairy, and some white meats plus white rice and pasta. I am glad I can have white wine, I had a glass or two last night and it was like winning the lottery. Thank you for the information about clomid. I am not afraid now anymore, I guess my fear was due to lack of knowledge. I am currently day 9 on my cycle, should I just wait for next cycle and take it days 5-9? also, is it ok if I take the first dose 25 mg, since I initially only took 25 mg and stopped, and the rest the 50 mg? Or should I call in for another script? I am so excited to hear feedback from you, I have been reading posts on this site for weeks and finally had the courage to ask questions. Thank you for your support and this site!

Why no salty things? You need to be eating more than just salads. Remember: minimum is 1500 calories, 40g protein (don't count fruit/veggies) and 30g fat.

I'll let atomic weigh back in on that because I might be wrong, but I thought sodium restriction had been dropped by almost everyone. I can't restrict salt due to blood sodium issues, so I haven't read much about it but I thought that's what I've been seeing.

So I think the hardest thing for me is skipping breakfast! I have to be up with my son at 630 am and take him to school and then come home and start studying for my online classes! I get so hungry, I have to eat by 1030 am , I want to wait till 12 but I can't! I just drink coffee w equal and skim milk till 10 , and between 1030 and 11 I have to eat lunch. I know skipping breakfast is a huge factor in swaying, any tips for me? Is it better if I drink black coffee, will that keep me full longer? Or diet coke??? Please help! I am really struggling in the mornings! With my son, before conception I was eating breakfast every day almost between 6-7 am! How long should I wait in the morning to eat, minus my coffee??? Clomid is done for this month. Do not restart it. Wait till next month if no BFP (and be sure you have taken a pregnancy test before starting the Clomid even if you are sure you are not pregnant). Next month you can start with the 25 and then up to the 50.
You need to be eating 1500-1800 cals a day, 40-50 g protein, and 30-60 g fat. If you aren't doing that, then you are NOT DOING LE DIET. You are starving yourself and that is not LE Diet.
Low carb vegetables like lettuce are FREE you can have as much as you want, so if you're counting that in your calories then you need to eat even more.
Virtually all of us have dropped the sodium restriction from our sway diets and our results have gone UP since we did. I got my 4th boy limiting salt and then my girl without limiting it at all.

Coffee is totally fine and has been seeming to sway pink for people. I got my girl with coffee and my boys with tea.
Anything unsweetened or artificially sweetened is ok in mornings and between meals.
Personally, I cheated on coffee because I liked to have some in the morning with milk and REAL sugar and so I cheated (still got a girl)
Re Breakfast - just go as long as YOU can. Different for every person. If you can only get to 10:30, eat at 10:30. It's fine!

Personally, I made sure to have an overnight fast of 16 hours. So I would count 16 hours after the last time I ate and that was when I would have my first meal of the day. Some days I stopped eating after 7:00pm and other days I would stop eating by 9:00pm. So I would eat my first meal between 11:00am or 1:00pm.
You have to do what works for you. Having periods of fasting throughout the day and a long overnight fast is key.
FX and GL!! Your doing great!

Oh thank you Atomic! That makes it more realistic! My husband keeps telling me that it will be a boy regardless and it's making me a little upset! I know I shouldn't be, the most important this is that baby will be healthy! I can only hope for a Girl and try my best to sway! One more question; when is the best timing? If I take clomid next cycle, when is my best chance to conceive a girl, I know it's best to only do it once! I am excited because I am getting ready for next cycle! I am ovulating now but I am going to wait one more month for the diet change to fully kick in! My CM is totally scant and creamy even today so I think the diet is working!

My AMH wasn't even detected and my FSH was 45, and I'm 31w1d pregnant with my third baby!!! Seriously, my AMH was 0!!

What do YOU want to do, WMP?? Do you want to go with an egg donor or do you want to TTC naturally???
Low AMH makes things much harder to be sure but we can work with it. The nice thing about TTC naturally with low AMH is that you just keep chipping away at it, month after month. Your body won't make a good egg every month but maybe 4 or 3 or 2 or even 1 good egg a year, and you can catch that egg. There are many ladies on here who have gotten pg with lower than normal AMH. AMH also has seemed to go up for some people!
Just let me know how you guys will proceed and we can get something ironed out that will up your odds of conception without swaying blue TOO much. :)

Question - did you have AMH measured after taking the Clomid?? That may not be an accurate finding - Clomid makes FSH rise which in turn can make egg quality not very good. we honestly aren't too sure how it all works and how Clomid might affect AMH readings.

I doubt that is it in isolation (esp. given that FSH remained normal) but AMH has proven a funny thing for us with many people getting wildly different AMH readings in different months even though the "experts" claim it cannot change - it can and does.

That is largely because they don't know what else to do. :/ I think you should definitely stay optimistic if your FSH is in normal range. people with low AMH and high FSH can make the occasional good and fertilizable egg - it may not happen every month, but if you make a good egg 4 or 3 or 2 or even 1 time a year, even 1 every two years, you CAN absolutely still get pregnant. This is "Goldie the Golden Egg" and it does happen, if you just keep TTC you have a chance every month that Goldie will show up. :)

I would have you switch to the atomic fertility diet and exercise if you can, and DTD every 4 days plus one more attempt at positive OPK. :)

In this thread 5 from the top http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-general-discussion/9052-swaying-under-special-circumstances-part-3-pcos.html (anyone can use it, this isn't just for people with PCOS)
I would look at the egg donor option very seriously. I know it's not the first and ideal option but if you do really truly need IVF that will be by far your best shot and what science has discovered is that your uterine environment actually has huge effects on who that little girl would turn out to be - she would still be yours even if the original DNA isn't. :)

Thank you ladies ahead of time!
I eat at around 10.30, it's still good as you are still skipping breakfast and not eating so early. I think that's ok, remember you need to be able to actually get through your sway :)

Hi ladies, quick update: I have gone to the REI and she is doing further testing. She thinks it may be premature ovarian failure due to my cycles being so short. I am getting my periods every 17 days now and my lutheal phase is super short. I am taking fertility vitamins, b6, and magnesium. However, still getting period way too early, I just got spotting on day 16! So depressing; but I am staying positive and praying for things to work! I hope IVF is an option for us with my own eggs, my husband is not open to donor eggs! Anyone out there experienced this, short cycles and low estrogen (premenopausal) that have been able to conceive? Please any feedback would be great, baby dust to all!

:agree: I also ate at 10:30 many times if I had been up real early (which I often was back then)

Oh no I'm sorry to hear that (17 day cycles is not a good sign) but I do want to be clear on something - is this something that has been ongoing for a while or did it start when you went onto any vitamins or other supplements or diet (even LE Diet)??
I have seen on MANY occasions, people who are told that they have fertility challenges and then they start taking tons of stuff to "fix" that and their cycle goes bananas - really long or really short and LP vanishing down to 5-7 days. Some of the fertility vitamins have HORRIBLE effects on people's cycles and B6 has really messed people up too. If you are lowering your estrogen levels with herbs and vitamins then this could def. be causing weird cycles and strange readings in hormone blood tests.
If your cycles have been getting shorter over the course of many months or years then yes maybe indicative of POF but if it just suddenly started out of the blue then there may be more going on. I would like you to post the ingredients in your fertiliy vitamins and I personally recommend you to wean off B6 NOW and just start a normal multivitamin with 100% B6. there is no need to take more than 100% B6 no matter what the vitamin peddlers say.

Wantmyprincess I have been on the le diet since March and gone from a 28-30 day cycle to 23-27 day cycle, varying each month. Just be sure to use opks as my ovulation day has also been affected obviously :) I've oed anywhere from cd11 to cd15 so using opks and charting has helped me tremendously. HTH :)
do you think its because of the diet change or weight loss ???

Ok so I stopped the vitamins b6, and just taking multivitamin and magnesium 250 mg which helps with my anxiety and have been taking that forever? The fertility vitamins is just a prenatal with added beet and cranberry, it's called Baby and Me by mega food. I have been back on a regular diet since last month and have gained 5 lbs found since that :( super bloated now! Btw, I had the spotting day 16 and 17 very little ,brown spotting , but my period never stated? My period is due tomorrow so I took a pregnancy test since I was so nauseous and it was negative? I am not sure what is going on but my cycles were fine until just 2 months ago so maybe it was the diet , or it is POF, and I just didn't know since I had no testing yet? I am waiting on my period so I can call my REI and start all the tests? I still don't understand what that spotting was about , I thought for sure my period was starting but nothing, just few drops of old blood and nothing? I am nauseous and fatigued, maybe I am starting early menopause and don't know it? I feel like an old lady , lol! Any advice would help, baby dust to all of you ladies

Don't just stop the B6, gradually wean off by spacing doses furhter and further out.
Taht's a good one, I'd add in enough Vit. D to get you to 1000 IU.
Your cycle suddenly going nutballz 2 months ago indicates to me that this is a diet thing and not POF or early menopause. Like I said before, those things sneak in over the course of years, it's not something you suddenly wake up with.
What I would have you do is atomic fertility diet (this will only help with your cycles and egg quality too) continue with
DO NOT, I repeat do not, start scouring the web for the magic 11 herbs and spices that "fix fertility." That isn't how it works and to reiterate my point, often people end up screwing themselves up royally for no benefit.
The best approach is the Goldie the Golden Egg approach, where you just keep TTC every month and eventually you make a good egg and you're in a position to catch that egg because you're in good health.
Lower estrogen can cause spotting sometimes. I wonder if O is delayed.

Thank you so much, I really hope you are right and it was just the diet! Ok so how do I wean off the b6? Do I cut the pill smaller over a week? Also, I am not going to do any herbs, my REI said the same thing you did; she said not to take any fertility stuff and just take my prenatals and wait for test results? I wanted to take vitex but she told me not to, I ovulate one week before my period for some reason? Anyway, I am excited and hope that it was the diet and not POF, I am only 36? My period is due tomorrow; let's see if I get it? I am not having cramps?I will start the diet you mentioned and eat really good! Thank youbforbyour support, it means so much to me!you are a wonderful person to be reaching out to people you never met and help them, thank you!

Please understand I'm not saying that's the only reason you may have a harder time getting pregnant (AMH and FSH levels), but I do think that's why your cycle is so short.
Just gradually space the doses on your B6 till you're down to one a week and then drop it.
I'm happy to help, just let me know if I can help you in any way.

Hi Atomic and ladies, I just wanted to post an update regarding my last post! Following my blood tests I was referred to RE and told that my chances of naturally conceiving was about 2-4 % only. Basically, after several tests and ultrasounds we were told to starts with IUI and move to IVF if no results! I had just received my fertility meds in the mail and we were about to do IUI soon after, when my intuition told me to take an EPT! I took 4 and all positive! After months of trying we just magically became pregnant naturally! We are now 9 weeks pregnant and all ultrasounds look great including heartbeat! I wanted to thank all of you ladies for your suggestions and sharing your experience! I am nervous a bit about the gender because I feel guilty that I wanted a girl, and I am now excited about our baby no matter what gender ! I only pray he/she is healthy! I will update you guys in the future about babys health and gender! BTW, what really helped me was taking mediation visulization classes and praying for a healthy baby and my prayers were granted!

I am so happy for you!!! I'm telling ya ladies, we have very, very good results with ladies who are being given little to no hope by the RE's with the "Little Engine That Could" approach where you just keep chugging away month after month. we may only make 1 good egg a year but if you keep showing up to try, eventually "Goldie the Golden Egg" will show up and you can catch her.
Huge congrats and pink healthy dust.
