DH consumes around 500-600mg caffeine a day which is about 3-6 cups of strong coffee....
Which does this sway if any impact?

The old school swayers said it swayed blue, I think it sways pink (and our data seems to indicate that it does) but overall, we honestly don't know for sure and if he won't change it, it isn't worth an argument.

He's trying to reduce his intake down to 1 cup of coffee..
Usually he has 2-3 cups of strong coffee in the morning and 1-2 energy drink in this afternoon... which I think its about 500-600mg caffeine daily... He wants to limit to around 100mg

Atomic - is there anything new with DH and caffeine? I remember it to sway blue, but seems like that may be shifting?
As you know, DH is still a caffeine/work out addict. He hasn't been taking any weird supplements for a long time now so that is different this time, but he drinks 2 red bulls a day, another super strong workout energy drink prior to working out every day, and sometimes a large cappuccino from Starbucks too. His work out has changed somewhat.. he hasn't been trying to get bigger, just maintaining and playing a lot of basketball for cardio. I would be interested to see what role caffeine plays in DH and swaying!

Coffee and energy drinks have way less caffeine than instant realises, and espresso drinks have even less. A cup of coffee has about 60mg, same for standard energy drinks, the large ones maybe 100mg. A large milky espresso drink can have 30-90 mg, rarely on the high end though.

He actually drinks a really high amount. His energy drink -redline extreme is about 250mg and he gets the venti cappachino wet triple shot which is about 150 mg and then the 2 red bulls. I don't know how he drinks so much! It can't be good for him at all!!

Ingender claimed, and still claims, caffeine sways blue. That is because firstly it "blocks calcium absoprtion" but that idea has been 110% debunked by tons of major medical research and the only people who still say that are herb peddlers selling stuff. Secondly, it's supposed to make sperm swim faster, that may be but there is no evidence that makes more boys anyway.
This is one of those things that was among my very first issues with the old school sways because I know tons of people and almost without exception, the heavy caff users are the ones with girl after girl. Dozens of people would chime in on IG and say "But I drink tons of coffee and have girls" and it just fell on deaf ears. My husband worked with all these guys who drank 2-3 energy drinks all day and we were practically the only people with ANY boys let alone 4. I used to drink only tea, and he drank green tea only, no coffee. With our daughter we were both drinking coffee and lots of it and our stats are showing caff = girls.

Looking at a can of Monster right now that has 240 mg a can. It is not unusual for many guys to drink 2-3 of these a day and in fact I'd say most lower middle class working class guys are drinking that much every day (!) Our neighbor with 3 girls who worked with my husband got my husband hooked on them (luckily for me haha) before I got my daughter.

I'm still skeptical about Starbucks, but so surprised about Monster! I'm pretty sure they didn't used to have that much...or I never considered them worth drinking bc the caffeine:sugar ratio was too high. We have Monster here in Germany, and they don't have half as much caffeine. I think about a third but ill check next time I'm out. 99% of the energy drinks have less than 100mg per container, and I recall American drinks being similar, but is HAS been 4 years. I really need to go back!

Thanks Atomic! Very interesting!! DH and I only started regularly drinking coffee over the last few years. DH also consumes a crazy amount of aspartame...all sugar free energy drinks and about a pitcher of crystal light every other day. Maybe he has finally moved from average caffeine user to abuser ha ha!

Can you get him to consider Splenda, erythritol, xylitol or Stevia instead? I think aspartame is pretty unhealthy....though I know it's in 99% of SF products,

My husband has been drinking energy drinks since 06. We had 2 girls and 2 boys.

They are SO disgusting. They taste like urinal cakes (not that I tasted urinal cakes, but just that air freshener-y smell) BLECH!! He would drink one and come in for a smooch and I was just like "Oh God No". :p

LOL they really are immensely foul. How can they have so many different flavours but they are all horrible? I hate the original Red Bull flavour too. It's so artificial-chemical. I've never met a man who minds the taste of energy drinks much if at all, but most women seem much more discerning...
