UPDATE!!! It's a girl -- confirmed at 20wks!!! Can't really believe it quite yet. So happy!!!! DS1 is thrilled to have a little sister (did not want another bro, lol). DS2 doesn't want either a lil sis or bro. Ha.

Hi! I've been waiting for this ultrasound for forever it seems like. This was at 11w1d. The ultrasound tech was happy to give me a nub shot and her own guess, too. I also included a skull pic for skull theory. Let me know what you think! I swayed girl, and have two beautiful boys I adore. We are happy with whoever this LO is!!

It's too early for a guess because both boys and girls look identical (like girls) at this stage of gestation. The tech should have known that and not guessed. PLEASE PLEASE do not put any stock into that guess because it could still be a boy or a girl.

Best in the 12th week and even better in the 13th this was to early to guess from but could still be a girl, though you can't tell from the pic sorry xx

The 13th week is the most accurate - late 12th week is good too.

All babies look like girls until a certain point of gestation. The Y chromosome is dormant until the 10 th week and it wakes up then and starts making testosterone. This testosterone, over a series of weeks, makes the "clitoris" turn into a penis in boy babies but it takes time for that to happen. When you get a nub shot too early, the process is not complete and a boy can look like a girl still.

I agree, the tech should never have made a guess. All nubs at 11 weeks look girly like this one. 50/50 chance still. Best is from 12+3 to 14 weeks for nubs. FX for you though!

Just adding, I had a scan at 11w and 2 days and was showed the longest, flattest girly nub ever with a tiny fork on the end! Turns out its a boy:) 13 weeks is perfect for a nub guess, can you book a private scan for that time??
