Hi ladies! I came by and found our other thread had been closed, so I'm starting a new one :)

How is everyone?!

Pebbles, I definitely find myself getting upset over little things. Last month I had to stop reading my book club book because it was way too heavy and I was sobbing lol. I'm also potty training right now, so it's stressful.

Sunbuny and XX, I love the names! Our little girl will be Ember Josephine, the name we picked before even trying to TTC#1. My SIL informed DH that everyone in his family dislikes it, and he said, oh that's too bad. Then she asked if I was the one who picked it, which is funny because I'm the one who wavers and DH has been steadfast since we agreed on it 7 years ago lol.

I'm getting really uncomfortable lately- I cannot even recline (not flat) on my back without feeling nauseous and short of breath. Also, my back is very painful, despite a chiropractor. My friend recommended her massage therapist to me, so I am going to try that out. She does induction massage after 38 weeks, as well, so I might do that. My friend went into labor while in the middle of her massage... So I think that's a pretty cool endorsement haha.

I'm sorry you're feeling so uncomfortable Temerity! I do my Yoga poses and pelvic tilt exercises to help with any low back pain I get. It helps so much! I hope you get some relief soon!

AFM- I can't believe I'm 34 weeks! I haven't been keeping track and told someone I was 32. I thought I had more time to get some projects done but now I'm freaking out! This little guy has had a HUGE growth spurt and has already engaged and descended into the birth canal [emoji16]! They say he will come early, but I'll believe it when it happens! I'm gonna finish washing the baby's clothes and pack my hospital bag. Once I have that bag packed there is no way he will come early- Murphy's Law [emoji6]!

I hope everyone else is doing well!

Thanks XX! Oddly, the pain is high up under my shoulder blade on the right side. I have gotten it with every pregnancy in exactly the same spot. Side stretches help but don't completely alleviate it.

I can't believe we're going to be "meeting" the first of our babes in just a few weeks! Were your other two early or late? (Forgive me if that's been asked!)

Temerity, get thee to your doc and ask about your gall bladder. That sounds like what you're having, very common during pregnancy and they may be able to help you feel better if that is the case (or at least know about what is happening, because it can get quite severe and it's terrifying if you do not know what is happening and it starts getting really bad.)

Temerity

Thanks Atomic- I've mentioned it to my midwife before and gallbladder was never even mentioned, but I'll definitely ask specifically about it now that you bring it up.

I can't believe it either! I'm 34.5 weeks!! My DS1 came 8 days late and DS2 came 4 days early. This guy though has started measuring 3.5 weeks early since my 32nd week [emoji16]! I'm getting the finishing touches on things this week just in case! Sure enough, I'll be ready and he will come close to my due date [emoji6]!

I really hope you can get some relief from your back soon!

So I saw my dr yesterday. .. Baby is measuring quite small so have to have another growth scan at 36 weeks. If she isn't growing then looks like I'll be having her even earlier. Fx she's gaining weight in there.

How is everybody doing?

Sunbunny, I am going through the same thing now too. Ds1 was IUGR (noticed after 30 weeks and had him at 36.5 week). Baby now is measuring small so having ultrasounds every 2 weeks grrr. Good that your doctors are monitoring growth and hopefully she doesn't drop off. Girls just might be smaller in general? I hope!

Wow Pebbles, I've never had this before. Was the birth at 36.5 weeks natural or induced? What implications were there for having that bit earlier? I've accepted it now anyway and will just hope shes had a growth spurt since the last scan. Thanks for sharing your experience xx

I had a very long induction (33 hours). Doctors thought it would end with a csection, but luckily didn't. Baby was totally fine although monitored for 2 days in the NICU. They didn't seem to have concern for lung development prior to delivery (I thought they would give a shot to mature lungs prior to).
My son has health issues (but overcoming them)... who knows why (genetics, delivery, or being IUGR with placenta issues?).
I have been told every 2 weeks for ultrasound measurements gives them an accurate picture of growth. Don't worry...the best thing is being aware and doctors checking often.

Ugh, I'm so uncomfortable! I've been getting Braxton hicks contractions mixed with real ones off and on since 34.5 weeks. Well I'm 36 weeks and have been getting them regularly for the past 5 days. I'm so uncomfortable from them.

The problem is this is how I felt with DS2, but didn't realize I was in labor. Went to the hospital, was checked, nothing. They made walk for 1hr. After 40min of only sciatic pain occurring, I had the nurse check me. I was 6cm, fully effaced, and DS2's head was crowning! WTH!?! I didn't get "truly uncomfortable" until I had to push! Since I'm feeling the same way, I'm worried I'll get into a pickle and end up delivering under less than ideal circumstances!

With DS2, I could have sworn that I was in labor, but apparently I wasn't and didn't realize when I was [emoji16]! Anyway, I've been uncomfortable all night, it went away for most of the morning from 7am until 11am. Woke up from a nap to horrid cramping and sciatic pain at 12pm. Usually I'm not miserable during the day, just at night when I'm trying to sleep. The baby usually still moves but isn't now. I have a feeling I'm going to be miserable for the next freaking 4 weeks [emoji30]! This baby better be super cuddly, super cute, and an awesome sleeper [emoji1]!!!

It's 9:55pm here where I am. I'm pretty uncomfortable. I'm doing laps around my house to see if they get stronger or go away. The nurse I spoke with today said if it's true contractions then walking will make them stronger and if it's false labor walking will make them go away. So we will see.

I'll be looking forward to hearing about your scan today! I'm hoping she has grown!

Hey Sunbunny and XX wow you will be meeting your babies so soon!! Eek

Sunbunny if doc was worried they would say. 25th is small but if proportionate then it's a good. Ds1 had a big head and body wasn't growing anymore (5-10th percentile was a concern).

I know this is a third for me but I'm still in shock that another being will be here so soon. And remembering all that comes with a newborn. Crazy!

November 13th, 2015, 10:40 PM
Ugh, just what I wanted to have at 37w1d- a yeast infection! This is literally the third one I've ever had in my life and had to call the nurse on call who transferred me to my OB, and I talked to my grandma. I don't know what they are like, and I'm glad I caught it early.

I was told if it doesn't get better, the burning sensation may be referred pain and labor will be imminent. I've never heard that! But then again I didn't believe I was in labor with DS2 even though I was told I was almost 6cm and 100% effaced. Who knows! I just hope to get some relief soon! Looks like no more baths for me [emoji20].

So I haven't updated in a while because life is nuts right now, but I have a moment so here I am :)

I'm coming up on 35 weeks and everything is going really well. My belly is measuring perfectly and baby girl's heart rate is steady. She moves a ton. Next midwife visit I will get my GBS test, which I'm a little anxious about only because with DS2 I was positive, and he was born so quickly that I didn't get all the antibiotics so it was just one more thing to worry about. At 37 weeks I will start getting weekly NSTs and Ultrasounds to make sure all is well (thanks to being an old lady haha).

Sorry I haven't been around much but I do check in on you guys so I'm excited to see the big news start rolling in soon!

XXforhubby
November 18th, 2015, 02:10 PM
Good to hear from your Temerity!!

I too am getting weekly NST's and I just turned 36 :/. Oh well, I've had to have them in all my pregnancies. With DS1, I had lower amniotic fluid, with DS2 I had late onset gestational diabetes, and this one due to my age only.

I also had GBS with DS1 but not with DS2 or with this little guy thankfully!! I hope you test negative too!!

AFM- I am 4cm fully dilated and 50% effaced. We will see. I was surprised because I have only felt a pinching/stretching sensation at times on my cervix. I guess that was why! I'm finishing my to do list! I am getting ready to clean my kitchen and entry way floors and get the crown put on my molar today. These are the last 2 things on my list! After 4pm today, the baby can come come whenever he wants [emoji4]!

I'm so excited! I can't wait to meet him and to start seeing cute pics of all our babies on here[emoji4]!!

Well today sure has been interesting. While dropping off DS1 to school, I started to feel period like cramps. Once I got DS2 set up with his morning snack, I went to the bathroom and noticed pinkish brown mucus on my panty liner. Went in to see my OB and the baby is ok. I was told I was having bloody show. I have had contractions all day starting at 20min apart, to 15min, and now trying to sync to 10min apart. 20min ago I noticed more bloody show and cramping is increasing in intensity. I'm so uncomfortable [emoji4]!

Hopefully this is not a fake out and I get to snuggle with my baby boy soon! With DS1 and DS2, I had several days of fake outs spread out over a week or two. I've never had bloody show though- this is the first time for me.

No labor for me! I'm still getting the contractions, but I believe it is my body's response to me losing my mucus plug and having all the bloody show. I'm very sensitive to prostaglandin release, so I'm not surprised I'm uncomfortable.

I'm doing great! Aaron is literally the easier newborn I have ever taken care of! Even his first growth spurt was completely underwhelming and that says a lot since I exclusively breastfeed! My DH says it's because he is advocating for another sibling [emoji23]! We go back and forth about a 4th child. We are so beyond smitten with Aaron that we feel we could easily be done. Aw so great to hear Sunbunny and xx. He is adorable and I love the chub!

I think I am being induced at 38 weeks (Jan 2nd). Baby is still small. So if this is a placenta issue I will deliver before anything bad can happen. And baby will better thrive outside. (X fingers).
Been so sick the last 2 weeks. And now my lower back is out. Fun times!!

Sunbunny was your induction invasive? I had an induction with ds1 and it was awful! (Gel, balloon catheter, water broken, and a lot of Pitocin!)
Hoping a third delivery will be different in general.

I had an epidural before they started the induction. It was actually pretty easy. No gel, they broke my waters, I had a catheter but easier than my first, natural very long labor. My baby did get distressed towards the end but was born shortly after.

Hi XX, just curious... have you started the low everything diet again? I don't know if it's because of the breastfeeding but I am really hungry! I can't imagine skipping breakfast and snacks again.

I've started with eating LE foods and over the course of the next two weeks, I'll slowly cut out snacking. I'll have to do three meals a day though while nursing such a little one. Plus, I'll have to stick to the upper limits for everything.

I'm a little worried about it because the baby weight is flying off me so fast already! I'm only 15lbs from my goal weight and 10lbs up from my pre pregnancy weight!

XX maybe the Atomic Fertility diet would be better short term until your little guy is bigger? I don't know what Atomic would say though.

Pebbles, so exciting that you have a date! I hope it goes smoothly for you.

I'm 38 weeks and change, and still feel like the baby is not planning on coming soon. Despite that, I had an induction massage today in the hopes that she just needs a little coaxing and may come before the holidays get really hectic. I'm trying to schedule my induction for 12/28 (40+1), which I told my midwives months ago, but they couldn't even request until this past Monday. However, despite many conversations about it, they never informed me that they would want a cervix check before they would fill out the paperwork, so I didn't push to have my appointment early in the week and won't have a check until tomorrow. With such a busy time of year when everyone is trying to have a baby before the end of the year, I will be really annoyed if I don't get in due to this procrastination.

Sorry for the vent- this just came to my attention today so it's still fresh on my "oh crap" list.

We finally got discharged this afternoon and then it was all about dealing with the fallout of having been gone from my boys for a few days :)

She is here! Ember Josephine, born on 12/17/15 at 7:26pm, weighed in at 7lb5oz and 19.25" long. Induction went really smoothly, and she was born 8 hours after I arrived at the hospital. Hi ladies! Went on hiatus for awhile....life is crazy busy. Just wanted to pop in to say congrats to all the girlies that had their sweet babies! So happy for each and every one of you.

Just an update on me (for any of you that may remember me): Had the sweetest most perfect baby boy on Dec 10th. He was delivered via c-section (3rd one) since he was also breech. He was 7lbs 7oz and 20" long. He's gaining weight like crazy and is a great nurser and sleeper. He's seriously the most amazing little thing on the planet and I couldn't be more in love! His 5 older siblings are obsessed with him! We had a wonderful Christmas with our new addition. All is well and I can't wait to do it again!...in a year or two.

Hope all is well with the rest of you! Take care!

Girls. How are your newborns sleeping? Charlotte loves her mummy so much that she really only settles at night if she is sleeping next to me. I've never co slept with my others and they really warn against it here in Australia. I tried resettling her for 2 hours last night (3am) before bringing her back to bed where she fell asleep immediately. Just after some ideas or suggestions about what you do

Sunbuny-DS co sleeps next to me most of the night. If I get him in the rock n play for half the night, I feel good about myself. I've noticed that mine likes to be on his side, and snuggled. So, I put him in slightly on his side, and tucked in.

5-congrats on your sweet boy!! I hope to start HT in a year so hopefully some of us will be pregnant together. My boys love their new brother. Constantly fight over who gets to hold him..I'm wondering when his shiny new toy phase will end

Ooh, I would have loved if my DS1 would've settled co-sleeping! Alas, he NEVER slept except for when I couldn't too :/

This little guy sleeps in his room in his crib or in the bassinet in the living room during the day. I need him to sleep in loud conditions now so when he is older he can sleep anywhere. Things will be crazy this fall when DS2 starts preschool. Aaron will need to sleep on the go or in less than ideal conditions. I'm breaking him in now!

He's a great sleeper and nurser. We lucked out this time around!

Thanks ladies! We named him Drew Thomas. :)

Sunbunny- We have actually co-slept with all of our babies. This one is no different. He likes to be snuggled up and he barely wakes to nurse and then goes right back to sleep so I actually get MORE sleep co sleeping. I tried to get the 1st baby to sleep in his own bed but it never worked out and I was exhausted. Never tried it again. I feel like since the beginning of time (before cribs etc) cave women slept with their babies. There's something natural about it to me. Easier to protect them. I like that I can hear them breathing etc. I have severe anxiety (especially after having a baby) and it helps me to feel content and that baby is ok. Sounds crazy, I know but it's what's best for us at least. I hope you get it figured out!

You girls all have great taste in names

Its funny. I know it's natural to cosleep. I admitted to the community nurse yesterday that it's the only way she'll sleep sometimes and she started in with sids, suffocation 😢

Last night after feeding her, changing, comforting we tried for over 2 hours to get her to sleep in her basinet (next to my bed). She just got more upset. I put her next to me in bed and she settled within minutes. I'm pretty careful. I'm sleeping well but I'm obviously aware she's there because I wake in the same position. Blankets are well below my waist (its summer here anyway). Are you guys made to feel terrible for cosleeping?

We are not made to feel terrible here regarding cosleeping, but they do make you aware of the risks.

I say do what you need to do so you and baby sleep well. There is a risk with anything, but you're more apt to miss something if you're not sleeping well.

You're doing great! Don't let anyone make you feel any different!

We told our ped what our routine is...she said "well, we aren't perfect, you're aware of the risks but you do what you have to do to survive" last night, he was in the bassinet for the first half of the night..I feel accomplished. He's 2 weeks old and in there half the night..I think that's pretty good. Another two weeks, he might be in there all night. Do what you have to do. And I agree with 5, my anxiety is a lot better when I can hear him breathing

There are always going to be a difference of opinions and there will always be someone that tells us we are doing something "wrong". Listen to your mommy instincts! You know what's best for you and your children. Not a single one of us can tell you. I don't get a lot of scolding about co sleeping but maybe I'm too old and just don't care what other people think anymore. Hahaha. After 6 kids and all alive and healthy, I'm pretty sure I've figured out what works for us at least.

I've actually also been reading that co sleeping can help reduce SIDS since baby can hear mom's heartbeat and feels safe so can relax and breathing resumes normally. It makes me feel better too. Win/win. For us.

And I think that if baby sleeps some in the bassinet and some with you that's a great balance! We've never been able to swing it but we all have different needs. Go with what feels right! You're doing great mama!

Sunbuny
December 30th, 2015, 02:20 PM
So it's 6am here and last night I got Charlotte to sleep on the basinet all night long no crying. I think that's that only way I'm happy for her to sleep there. I cannot persist through her crying. She's too little. BUT she woke every 3 hours. That's not entirely a bad thing because she's getting more feedings (trying to look on the bright side ). When she sleeps next to me she actually wakes less. I feel exhausted today that's for sure!

You girls are awesome! Thank you so much for your summer xxx

Sun, I'm in the same position with co-sleeping. In my opinion, you can reduce the risk incurred with co-sleeping by being prepared to do so before you are sleep-deprived or half-asleep, thus avoiding that middle of the night, last resort decision to "just do it". I co-slept for a short period with each of my first two children, and it didn't stop me from being able to move them to a crib once the newborn stage was over. I might not sleep as well as I do alone, but it's better than being up half the night repeatedly trying to nurse, then settle baby, then fall asleep myself.

I hope everyone is doing well! I have some photos to share but have to decide where to upload them... I used to use tinypic but sometimes that backfires with reused URLs lol.

He is such a talker! He loves to have conversations with me- he will coo for a bit, wait for me to talk, then he will coo some more. It's so cute [emoji4]! He's over 13lbs and almost wearing 6mo outfits! He's getting so big! Everyone thinks he's 5-6mo old and are shocked when I tell them he is almost 3mo!
