I am swaying girl but found out that I am not ovulating regularly
1st month 50mg (did not ovulate cd21 test)
2nd month 100mg (still did not ovulate cd21 test and I started AF)

Dr said to try the 100 again for two more months.

*My question is: if 100 did not work last month, is there any hope that it will work this month without increasing the dose?

I am just going to speak from personal experience. Although I am "older" and perhaps not the best patient for Clomid, I did not ovulate on two rounds of Clomid. And I had NEVER had a problem ovulating previously. I was taking it strictly for fertility, not swaying. First round 50 second round 100 and nothing. ALSO, I started getting blurry vision middle of second cycle, so clearly I wasn't a great candidate.

Can you get femara? I think it's better than Clomid.

I have not asked for Femara but I plan to if nothing happens this month. Did you change to femera?

I did ovulate first round on femara, but triggered too early on second round (I was doing monitored IUI) .

Do you know why you don't ovulate regularly? If you have pcos it may help to also go on metformin as it helps regulate hormones.

Sorry, no advice about clomid as 50mg has worked for me. This cycle I took it and started metformin at the same time and ovulated a day or 2 earlier than expected compared to the times I took it on its own.

I was diagnosed with hashimotos hypothyroidism three years ago, so I assume that is why the issue with ovulation. I take meds and my levels are perfect right now. Neither my ob or my endocrinologist has mentioned taking metformin I guess I will ask about it if this month does not work. I think I am going to try taking it on 3-7 instead of 4-8 that I have been doing.

I am just confused about not increasing the dose. I would have to assume that if the 100 did not work last month it probably won't work this one.

My OB explained to me that clomid builds up overtime. I've actually read of quite a few ladies that did 2, 3 even 4 consecutive cycles of clomid, took a break from the meds and went on to ovulate and get pregant on an unmediated cycle as the medication was still in their system. So even though you did not ovulate in 100 mg the previous cycle, perhaps your doctor is hoping that this months 100 mg combined with what's still in your system will do the trick and you'll ovulate?

Metformin is used for pcos to treat insulin resistance. The insulin resistance messes up hormones so if you don't have that issue its probably not going to work for you as you hormones are affected by the thyroid issue I imagine.

Hashimotos often presents with PCOS/IR tendencies and it is not uncommon to go onto Met with Hashimotos.

Eveyr month you have the medication your hormones are a little different than the prev. month. It is possible to go on to have a different result in a different month. I do agree, though, that Femara may be better for you at this point if you can get it.

Thank you so much to all who replied.
Honeybug what you said makes sense to me now, thank you for sharing what your ob said to you.
Atomic - I did not think about that in regards to the hormones, thank you.

I think my ob is old school so I will have to be careful how I mention femara.

Well I took the first 2 pills for this month last night. I am not going to get my hopes up.
