I've decided to try vitex to help bring on O. I'm on cd44 so hoping it's ok to start now. But my question is...the brand I got says each capsule contains 900 mg dry herb equivalent. Total alcohol free extract Chaste Tree berry 500mg and Validated Full Spectrum Profile .6% Agnuside (from Chaste Tree berry) 3.0mg. I have no idea what any of that means. Actually I guess I have two questions. The first is...Is this kind ok? And the second is, the box says to take 2 capsules daily in the morning. Most of the stuff I've read on sways and online says they are taking 1 in the morning and 1 at night. So should I follow the box instead? And any idea what the difference is between the 900mg dry herb equivalent that is listed and the 500mg Total alcohol free extract (this last one is what is listed in the supplement facts...the 900mg is listed under the suggested use section.

Edited to add link. Maybe this will help http://gaiaherbs.com/products/detail/668/Vitex-Berry

Yes, at any point in your cycle if you have not Oed (or at any point in your cycle if you're not TTC that month) you can start the vitex.

They have all kinds of confusing stuff on vitamin bottles that we don't need to worry about, it just tells how they formulate the pills and different companies formulate them in different ways, so it's hard to compare them. Simply go off of the directions on the bottle in terms of dosage and never go over what the bottle says to take. For swaying, we generally think it's best to take one in the morning and one at night, but if it works out for you to take them together (or if anyone else reading this has a larger dose pill) that's fine too.

The difference between the 900 mg and the 500 mg is that the amount of "stuff" in the pill is 500 mg, which is equal to the amount of "stuff" in 900 mg of actual vitex. They extract all the good stuff with non-alcohol chemicals.
