It was close to 7 the last time I tested it, but today it was only 4 (I got a +opk today, so O is right around the corner, and I should be seeing HIGHER pH now, right??)!!! I can't figure out what changed. What can I do to raise it? I have been drinking BSD once a day, ACV once a day. Should I increase that?

i do acv 3x/s a day, plan to do BSD next cycle af-o (or 2 weeks) with COT about 3-6xs/day (if i can fit it in!!), and ive been drinking lemon water all day.
what were you etaing/drinking when you had that pH of 7?
also some say that pH isnt that impt..if youre attempting soon, id do BSF too!!

Oh be careful when you do the COT! I tried it today and had a total blowout! (TMI, sorry!)
I don't remember what I was eating when I had the higher pH, aside from less eggs and peanut butter. So I am backing off both of those and upping more alkaline stuff.
The problem is, there isn't enough room in my stomach/time in the day to do all the drinks and all the food!! I need a few more stomachs, like a cow!

upping more alkaline stuff.
:agree:
Maybe increase alkalizing fruits and veggies which are also high in Potassium: tomatoes, potatoes, bananas....+ just alkaline fruits and veggies esp. dried figs and dried fruits generally and garlic.
Here's link I used a lot while on IG ( here I'm more relaxed :p) http://www.angelfire.com/az/sthurston/acid_alkaline_foods_list.html
I totally understand not having stomach large enough for all I'm supposed to eat :worry:

I just started with the Alka Seltzer Gold yesterday. Has anyone else been drinking this stuff? Not bad.

Ugh that's so frustrating. Question - did you have much noticeable CM when you checked?? I tend to wonder if it was just a one-off fluke, like you were dry at that moment so pH was low because the vaginal secretiions always are, and up inside where it counts, your pH is fine.

Don't worry about the peanut butter/eggs, if it's worrying you...I suspect that your body has stored up a lot of the goodness from them and is using it, so if you feel the need to cut back to raise your pH, it will use that stored cholesterol and healthy fat to keep making everything it needs.

That would be my preference rather than cutting out good foods, would be to just add more alkalinizing veggies, but like I said above, you have prob. gotten a lot of goodness already stored up from the eggs and peanut butter.

I do want to post a reminder about COT and anythign else containing potassium in mineral form, I really do not love you guys taking supplementary potassium in anything but the tiniest of dosages. I would much rather you got potassium via foods rather than supps of any sort. Too much potassium can kill you, and when you take potassium supps, your body starts to excrete large amounts of potassium and then if you cut back too suddenly on your intake, your body keeps excreting potassium and you end up with too little potassium, which can kill you even quicker.
I know people can and do take it, but for my mind even if we have a bad result one in a thousand times, it's not worth it!!

I found that wheatgrass tablets raised my pH greatly :)

:agree: Plus, wheatgrass is safe and boosts fertility. Drinking baking soda is not healthful in any way.

What veggies are the most alkalizing?
WHen I checked my CM, I used an instead cup and collected it that way, and stuck the ph monitor right in there.
I have only been taking one potassium tablet a day. When/how do I wean myself off it? When I get a BFP, should I cut back my dose? Does this include the ASG?

Can you cut the tablets in half?
I think most "green" coloured vegetables/fruits are quite alkaline. Broccoli, asparagus, spinach, celery etc.

Although it might seem that citrus fruits would have an acidifying effect on the body, the citric acid they contain actually has an alkalinizing effect in the system.
Note that a food's acid or alkaline forming tendency in the body has nothing to do with the actual pH of the food itself. For example, lemons are very acidic, however the end products they produce after digestion and assimilation are very alkaline so, lemons are alkaline forming in the body. Likewise, meat will test alkaline before digestion, but it leaves very acidic residue in the body so, like nearly all animal products, meat is very acid forming.

One potassium pill a day (the 99 mg dose which is the one that is commonly sold) is ok as long as you don't stop it suddenly (and prob. even then.) I happen to know for a fact that some people are taking mroe than one of those though and nobody should be doing that.
Yes, the ASG does have potassium in it. THat's what makes me nervous about the ASG and COT - the taking large doses day in and day out and then stopping for 2 weeks. Most people can withstand it obviously, but I am scared about it because people really can die. Most people who take ASG for stomach issues take one dose here or there, not several times a day for 2 weeks and then nothing for 2 weeks. your body just gets used to the potassium at that level.
The good news is that all those nice alkalinizing veggies TTC 5 nicely posted, also have a lot of potassium in them!
