i read on here that protein from animal sources arebetter than vegetarian sources (tho i know vegetarians just as well conceive boys).
but i got confused when i read that the proteins in cereals (dry cereals like special K, etc) arent "complete proteins."

is the protein in NYF a complete protein and can i count that toward my protein goal? it has 9g per serving!!!

Yes, the protein in NYF is a complete protein. Here's the thread that mentions it...

Thank you Bec!!!

What "complete protein" means is that of the necessary amino acids (building blocks of protein) that your body can't make itself and has to get through diet, a complete protein has all of them all together.

People used to believe that unless you ate all the amino acids at the same time, that your body couldn't use those foods to make protein. Nowadays, people believe that your body can store at least some amino acids and use them later on to build proteins, even if you eat a food that is not a complete protein.

My thinking is, it's just best for blue to make sure we get ALL the amino acids at every meal and snack just to be on the safe side, because we have no way of knowing what our body has stored up and what it doesn't. Obviously, this is erring on the side of caution and there are certainly people who pay no attention at all to protein and have boys.

Also, I think that complete proteins like in meat are better at controlling blood sugar spikes and crashes than incomplete proteins like cereal are. I have no science to back that up, just my own observations that when I eat cereal, even wholegrain cereal, I am hungry much sooner than when I eat a meal with meat, eggs, or nuts.

So if you do not like nuts - like me - an egg at each meal instead, is just as good?

Yes! An egg is just as good and may even be better due to the cholesterol.

There are so many foods out there, no reason not to just stick with what you like! Swaying has to fit into your life, not the other way round!!
