What in the world is going on?

Monday (cd 26) I had bright, red blood when I wiped so I just thought "oh I'm getting AF early" so I went bought new pads and decided to get this months clomid at the same time. That bright red turned into black, tarry discharge which is normal for me and also a HUGE sign that AF is coming. AF was due Wednesday (cd 28) and the discharge stopped midday Wednesday with no AF at all. Still nothing this morning so with fmu I tested (cd 30) and it was a bfn!

What is going on? My other clomid cycle was 28 days and I NEVER go longer, if anything my cycles like to quicken up on my by getting shorter. Any ideas or advice?

I would like to see a chart too. What CD do you think you Oed on?

I think you either had a short AF or it got going for a minute and then stopped. I would have sex with female O and eat a spicy meal with some garlic in it and see what happens.

i would call doc's office and see what they want you to do. They may want you to hold off and see what happens. Remember you can start Clomid as late as CD 5 if you need to hold off and see what develops.

Sorry about the late response....work has been crazy busy!

Thank you for your replies Maidentomother and ksmom - I've actually stopped temping as I was getting obsessive and figured it would only help me ttc if I tried to relax lol usually I o around cd12-cd14

Atomic - you were right about my dr wanting to hold off, I phoned on the fri and was told to test again on mon if af didn't show up, it was another bfn so I phoned the dr back, the nurse did give me a blood requisite but told me to hold off to get the blood drawn until tues as af would be a full week late then. AF reared it's ugly head later that night haha. So my cycle was 32 days long, I must say that was definitely a shock as my periods, if anything, "quicken up" on me by getting shorter!

I am starting clomid tonight but am going back to the 50 mg (rather than the 100) as I had GREAT results with that dose and honestly I'm kinda at the point I just really want a baby :( It's a hard, hard balance as we've been ttc for what feels like forever and we both want another baby but I don't want to feel like I've "wasted" my year by losing all I've done thus far by swaying blue too much, if that makes any sense? As per our last convo, Atomic, dh and I are going to bd every 3 days, with female o, and lay 15 min on back with legs/hips up and then 15 min on tummy, and of course I'm still on le :)

Thank you ladies and Atomic so much! I cannot even begin to tell you how much you all have been a blessing in my life throughout this journey. And Atomic your research and knowledge never ceases to amaze me! Thank you, thank you!

Maybe the 100mg extended your LP? That's my guess. You msy have popped 2 eggs so higher hormone levels, longer LP. I fear that is what happened to me this cycle! I'm 13dpo, BFN last night.

Fx for you this cycle! I hope to join you soon.

Honeybug remember though, the Clomid is a great pink sway tactic - even if you can't have it all "ideally" for a pink sway you are still going to have a very strong pink sway.

Thank you so much for your kind words and I am fully expecting a BFP for you any time now. :)

Another month out :( Bumping this to give an update and I could really use some advice......

This will be my third consecutive month on clomid (4th total) and my OB says he will not refill my prescription after this month as he would like to try femara for up to 3 months, if I do not get a bfp this month. I'm not really sure how I feel about that seeing as I really only started taking the clomid to help with my sway
Is there an essay on femara? I did look in the Index but couldn't see one listed

For this month.....what should I do? I really, really want to just get pregnant but don't want to feel like I've wasted the year swaying so hard to just drop it all but I really want to take advantage of my last month of clomid.

Honestly I'm leaning to SMEP or e3days, plus an extra attempt at +opk. I also need to decide if I will stick to 50 mg or bump it back up to 100 mg for this month?

Atomic or anyone I would really love to know what you would do in my situation

I would stay at 50mg. I think Femara is great for pink and a great med overall. I wish my dr would give it to me!

I would do E3D unless you've done that last cycle. In which case I'd BD from AF through O.

I'm concerned that your timing may br off. Maybe you were Oing later than you think on Clomid. Have you been BDing after when you think you Oed to cover your bases?

I had the same issue while on Clomid so I stopped it. It messed up my cycles...like really bad!

Thank you for the replies Maiden and MyByC

This last cycle we were dtd E3D all the way up until AF. Unfortunately, (if I assume lp was 14 days) I ended up with an attempt 2 days before O and the day after O, so I'm not really surprised with a bfn when I take that into account.

Is dtd every other day better than SMEP?

Thanks for the input about femara, maiden! I guess I am most worried about femara: 1) because I only started clomid for swaying purposes and 2) I don't know much about femara at all but have heard it great lowers changes of multiples comparatively to clomid

Femara works the same way but is much safer, fewer side effects, can be used long term (you're only supposed to do 3-6 cycles of Clomid according to some). And yes lower incident of multiples.

O-2 is actually ideal timing. It doesn't get better than that!

Femara is beter anyway so no worries. It works similar to Clomid but a recent study showed it may even work better (for pink) :agree: I do not have an essay because it isn't approved for fertility and many doctors won't prescribe it, if yours will you're lucky.

I would ALWAYS use 50 unless you're having utrasounds to monitor how many eggs u release

Either SMEP or e3d plus one both good odds conception. I think e3d may be less stressful (SMEP can be kind of an intense experience LOL)

DO NOT do every other day. I know it's kind of hard to understand but every other day is BOTH more blue friendly but ALSO lower odds of conception. If you want to get pregnant fast, then PLEASE do SMEP or e3/4d plus one. Every other day, you have the risk of blue but without the benefits of upping odds of getting pregnant.

Example, doing every other day it's totally possibe to end up with an attempt that's too early to get pregnant from, and then only one viable attempt in fertile window (unlike the other two methods which are guaranteed to be at least two). It's worst of both worlds

I got pregnant every other day...in all the other months I was doing one attempt for 2 or 3 months, then every 4 days, then every 3 days :)) and in the end every other day..and it happend..but I trusted my sway, my diet and all very much...else, I wouldnt have tried it....

Thanks ladies!

I am currently on cd12. I took the 50mg of clomid on days 3-7. I've decided we will dtd E3D plus an extra attempt if I get a +opk. My OB agrees with you atomic, that EOD decreases sperm account and (therefor) fertility and his preference is E3D anyways.

I am feeling much calmer about the possibility of femara next month; I just want a healthy baby now! FX this is the cycle!!

Fx Honeybug! I'm trying more attempts this cycle too. No meds for me this month though.

Good luck maiden! I would love for us to be in the same due date group!! I think it's very smart for you to alternate months as clomid stays in the system!

Thanks and ditto! Thanksgiving is my favourite holiday so I'd love to be due then.

I sure hope you get your much awaited BFP; you too Honeybug!

I love Thanksgiving too, and my sweet Aaron was born 11/21 [emoji4]! He has his own day; his bday will never fall on Thanksgiving. I really love having a fall baby. My other boys have early summer and late summer birthdays so it was nice to change it up a bit. I would have liked to have had a spring baby, but alas that is not in my cards.

Onto another month!...........

Is there anything I should be doing differently at this point? Anything I should change-up/drop/add? I am trying to maximize my odds as I am sooo ready to see a bfp!

I am doing: le diet, femara 5 mg days 3-7, E3D, hips up for 15 min then 15 min on tummy, female o AFTER laying for 30 min, couch potato

Also I never had a +opk while taking clomid even though my bloodwork shows I did, in fact ovulate. Does femara have the same effect on opks as clomid?

atomic sagebrush
March 23rd, 2016, 02:27 PM
Why O after laying for 30 minutes?

I can't say for sure about Femara and I can't even say for sure that Clomid caused the lack of pos OPK either. We are seeming to find that it may be LE Diet causing weaker surges or something. Just not sure yet. So, keep with e3d and you'll be covered.

Good luck with the Femara! I hope it does the trick.

Thanks ladies!

I have a hard time going before dh because if I do, I end up really sensitive down there and then sex is either painful or I have to take a break (which dh finds frustrating as he often relaxes and the moment is gone)

It actually seems pretty silly now that I write it all out :) maybe that's what I should try differently. Is there a preference for female o before dh or should I wait until right after he's done?

No it makes perfect sense to me, I was just wondering if someone out there in cyberland was promoting that as some kind of miracle sway or pregnancy thing because it's neither.

Right after is fine! If you're trying to improve odds of conception I would do it right after, because after 30 minutes, the sperm would have left the semen and be up inside cervix. I feel like it would not help conceiving anyway.
