No licorice for you when TTC. This is very important. Licorice, even just dietary amounts, may cause issues with your baby and your health when used during pregnancy and we do not kno whow long the effects last after stoppping it so I prefer to err on the side of caution and have everyone avoid it. This isn't one of those "maybe maybe not" things either, it's 110% proven.
As a general rule when swaying, I think it's best to rely on set amounts for everyone. Thus, if you were using peppermint as a sway tactic, then use JUST peppermint tea in the amounts that everyone is doing. For licorice for your husband, use licorice supps. That way you know just what you're getting, how much, and we can then compare everyone's results with a prety good feel for how much everyone was using.
RE cinnamon, I only use this for people wiht PCOS or insulin resistance. It's not for everyone and may actually make your blood sugar drop low enough to be dangerous when on LE Diet.
