View Full Version : Tell me what you would change about my sway..

I recently lost 6 pounds. My typical weight is 115-120 but after the birth of my youngest daughter I've had a hard time loosing and have been around 155-166.
I have been "swaying" for about a year already. Having a much harder time ttc this time around.
I yo-yo diet since I don't know when I'll get pregnant. I did do the same with my youngest daughter because it took a long time to fall pregnant. I will be very strict from af-O and then cheat and eat a bit more.
I'm a vegetarian. I do eat cheese, milk (in coffee and food) and butter but not a lot. I'm just not big on dairy in general. Dinner is always white rice, noodles, or a potato with veggies (peppers, peas, white corn, zucchini, squash, green beans, mushrooms, and beans). I eat a lot of sodium. I'm big on soy sauce. I eat soy products. Frozen meals. If I eat breakfast it's toast with jam, cereal, a bagel & cream cheese, or to go food. Not typical though. I would really just rather have peppermint tea and eat lunch later.
I drink water, diet soda, coffee, peppermint tea, and alcohol.....
We use Sylk as lube. I'm adding Rephresh once a month ago few days before ovulation because that was in my last "successful sway". Not sure if I should jump and dump since we're at the 1 year ttc mark now?
I'm on blood pressure medication, allergy medicine, and Ambien for sleep issues. I've been anemic so I just started taking iron. I believe it's 100 mg but I was thinking about only taking it 3 times a week or lowering the dose?
I have been on vitex af-of for at least a year, 800mg folic acid, fiber 2-3 times a day, and cinnamon in the morning and night 1 capsule it says 350 mg cinnamon bark and cinnamon water-extract (bark) 8% flavonoids. That is to help loose weight.
My husband is currently at his highest weight. He smokes, drinks either crap beer or liquor, and has 1-3 monster energy drink a day. We're going to start adding some soy milk back in this month.
I keep ovulating in a full moon phase which worries me because all 4 of my boys were conceived in a full moon phase and my 2 girls in a new moon phase. I'm wondering if I can take the mini pill for a few days and make my cycle a little longer? Anyone know? I'm only off by a few days.
I'm a sahm and coach potato. I've been so tired with my low iron that I sleep a lot. If I'm still swaying by the time it gets warm 'm going to start walking an hour a day. That's a few months off though. Trapped inside for now.
I skip meals. Usually breakfast. This is really pretty easy for me. I'm not a big breakfast person and I love peppermint tea so I'll have a big glass if I'm hungry with Splenda. I can usually go 3-6 hours after waking up before eating. My hardest thing is to stop eating after dinner. I go to bed late so I'm usually starving come 10-12pm.
I think that's about it.

The cinnamon I stop at ovulation... and the alcohol I drink is usually vodka or rum. I'm going to probably switch to tequila though. I read somewhere recently that it keeps your blood sugar low.

Ah and fireball whisky is my new favorite :)

And after doing research found ceylon cinnamon is better and will do 500 mg twice a day.... that = 1 tsp 2 a day.

How tall are you? How anemic are you?
I would definitely drop Vitex, peppermint tea, and any other supps beyond 1000-1200mcg folate and I think the cinnamon is probably okay but maybe use less, no extract/capsules.
Also for sure drop represh and sylk, both inhibit conception but barely sway, just not worth it after so long TTC!
I'd focus on diet (especially keeping it steady, not yo-yoing or only doing it half your cycle) & one well timed attempt or BD E4D.

I'm 5 foot even. I have 35 pounds to still loose. The vitex seems to really help my cycles. I ovulate later without it.

Why no peppermint tea? It's my favorite :(

As per our convo I'm not endorsing this AT ALL but just chiming in here to make sure that you do this safely. I don't want you over at IG where they'll give you dangerous advice.
You are already a pro at diet.
After a year of TTC you should drop Vitex and the jellies. You shouldn't be adding stuff in at this point.
THe amount of cinnamon you're taking is dangerous. Toooo much esp. with the alcohol. No more than 1/4 a teaspoon. The capsules are for diabetics and not for young women in childbearing age.
Husband who smokes and drinks does not need soy milk.
Stay away from minipill, you don't need it, the moon phase stuff doesn't work anyway. I suspect your cycle may change off the vitex anyway.
No peppermint tea either, at least no more than 1-2 times a week.

Don't stop cinnamon cold turkey. Use 1/4 teaspoon AF-O, 1/8 teaspoon in LP. At BFP gradually wean off.

You will bleed to death taking that much.

We have found it really cuts odds of conception.
Also forgot to mention, no more jump and dump.

Pepp tea affects sex hormones.
If you're not very anemic I'd take a low dose iron supp 3x a week max.
How much later were you Oing before? What CD are you Oing around on Vitex? How are you determining O, just OPKs or temping/charting?
How much fertile CM do you have if any? How many days of it leading up to/through O on average?

Oh and full moon doesn't matter significantly, definitely don't waste time on BC. Most women O on FM, it's natural and normal.

I was ovulating on cd 17-20 non vitex cycles and 14-17 with.

Yes sorry I do chart and chart temps. Ovulation is being confirmed. Also with ultrasound. I'm a bit high risk so they have to watch me from the start.

I have done a lot of research on cinnamon and 1/2 - 1 tsp seems to be a very normal dose and is recommended. Why do you feel it could ca user such damage?

Are there any studies on fertility loss and peppermint tea?

I'd probably stick with the Vitex for a few more cycles in that case, but if still no BFP after dropping all the other stuff I'd drop Vitex next for sure. Some women just can't seem to conceive on it.
I don't THINK there are any pepp tea studies but not sure...
Oh also, how old is your youngest and how long ago did you stop BFing her?

She is 3. We're still trying to wean. She's nursing maybe 1 or twice at night and it's like for a few min. I don't think I have much milk

I have no idea about any of the other stuff atomic is def the person to listen too , I just wanted to mention and I got this from atomic that low iron levels can make it difficult to conceive and stay pregnant so you need to be taking a the correct dose a doctor has recommended if you are anaemic x

Have you been able to conceive while BFing before? Bc that could be an issue, some women can't conceive while nursing any amount though it's pretty rare if you're having regular cycles.

It is recommended for older people with diabetes. It is a blood thinner and young women already have thinnish blood anyway. you can literally BLEED TO DEATH from a bleeding ulcer in your stomach or a stroke (the kind caused by bleeding in your brain) if you take too many blood thinners and booze and cinnamon are both strong blood thinners. Additionally, being anemic makes your blood even thinner.

Yeah I have. I was bf with all my kids.
This can change over time though. i know you know Classic Movie Queen from IG and trying to conceive her 6th she literally could not get pregnant nursing even though she had before.
Sometimes our bodies know sh-- and they err on the side of not conceiving if they feel like the time is not right.

Based on my experience with hundreds, if not thousands of swayers by this point, I believe it to be a huge step in the wrong direction ever to be TTC for a year on these herbs and not getting pregnant, then stay on them because it moves your O day three days. WHO CARES???? 3 days different O Day isn't gaining you anything. It isn't getting you pregnant. We have seen tons of ladies not be able to get pregnant on them. Period, end of story. This observation began back on IG if you may recall with people getting BFN's for 8-12 months and then dropping vitex and getting pregnant the next month. you can believe me or not, I'm not trying to argue into doing it my way (because as you know if I had my way, girl, we wouldn't even be having this conversation)

Is this a joke?????
It is not my job to sit around and look up studies for people. I am not your guyses secretary and I do not like having to go to the mat to defend every observation I make over the years as being somehow inferior to some douche with 3 test subjects, published in the "Journals of Timbuktu Medicine Doctors". I have just spent 45 minutes on this thread when I answered all these questions in the first place. It is one thing when it's someone who has just showed up and doesn't know anything at all about any of this, but at some point it would be great if people who have been around a long time could at least give me the benefit of the doubt that I'm not talking out my butt here.
I can assure ya, that my considerable experience with women using peppermint tea, outweighs any study on it (which they wouldn't bother to do anyway because no one cares about swaying but us, and secondly would be totally misleading because women with PCOS would be the ones who could actually benefit from pep tea and it might work wonders for them but PCOS is the minority and not the majority) Trust me or don't trust me, I AM the expert so asking me to back up my experience doing this with some bullshit study is kind of insulting really.
I have a swayer right this minute who insisted on using peppermint tea "forgot" to mention it for the last 6 months, and has now rendered herself basically infertile. She's having anovulatory cycles and we tried Clomid but she couldn't even ovulate on that. This is not a fluke, it's the same thing that I have seen again and again and again dating back to my time on IG. And if the herbs actually WORKED then maybe it would be worth it, but THEY DON'T. Just to use vitex as an example here - 57% of people taking vitex got girls. 66% of people who didn't take vitex got girls. not working. Not worth the trouble they cause.

You definitely know your stuff or I wouldn't have come back crawling at your feet for your swaying wisdom. I thought maybe you or someone else might have seen something on the effects of peppermint. Obviously I'm waiting to try and stay as close to what "worked" for me before. As I am older, fatter, and have had some struggles there's probably stuff I will or should change and I'm trying to sort though all this and figure out what those things need to be... im not in a huge hurry to become pregnant. We weren't REALLY trying until the last few months because I had a lot of stuff I needed to get figured out with my body first. I have dropped the cinnamon and im only doing peppermint tea 1 a day now.

I would take advice atomic gave you, you have a pretty good chance at a girl again, you do have 2 already, and that much cinnamon doesn't seem necessary
