View Full Version : Question about alcohol and caffeine

I'm slowly starting a sway as my husband hasn't officially agreed to a 5th but I feel lIke he might soon . I'm easing into the LE diet and have added alcohol and caffeine into my daily diet. I thought I was doing OK but now I'm thinking I'm not really.
I've been skipping breakfast but I have at least one large cup of coffee in the morning with flavoured creamer added along with another either right after that or after I have lunch. Is that considered a breakfast since it isn't calorie-free? Should I be drinking it black or does the small amount of creamer make a big difference?
Secondly, I drink white wine every night well after dinner. Is that considered snacking?

I'm interested in this question too, because I also have coffee with creamer in the morning too. Regarding the wine, it is considered snacking if it's consumed well after a meal. Ideally you should have the alcohol with your meal. Whether it's a big deal to have it on it's own is something I don't know, and I'd also be interested to find that out.

I'm the same with coffee , In the morning to get me through til noon when I have my first meal I fill the gap with 2 coffees , with splenda and a little skim milk,I asked atomic about this and she said it was ok . Maybe best to switch to skim milk if u can .

Hmm, maybe I'll try to switch up the coffee. I've gradually reduced the amount of creamer I add over the last couple of months. I never drank any coffee at all with my boys so it was totally new to me. I think I could eventually work my way to black coffee. I definitely want to give myself the best chance at getting pink.

I'm the same , wanna give myself the best chances at it, as this will be it for me. I personally think that having Alittle skim in ur coffee just fill the gap won't hurt, on the other hand stressing about being hungry will, it may raise your T levels, so a coffee to relax u which does for me just to get me through til the next meal makes sense... And were lucky we can have ☕.. I love it
The over all diet is what counts , so if your sticking between the limits, going to go vegetarian, maybe exercise if you can cause I think its really important .. That's what matters. All the best

A little creamer in your coffee is fine, though completely black is ideal. I'd try to have the wine as close to dinner as possible, as it is definitely snacking otherwise. If you're only having 2 meals a day wine could count as your 3rd, especially if It's much later after dinner.

Thanks for asking this question because i've been wondering it too.

Also does anyone know if we are allowed to drink diet soda, crystal light, coconut water throughout the day or is that considered snacking? I never drink and eat at the same time so is 20 minutes after a meal ok to have wine?

I didn't think coconut water was advised for pink swayers? Diet coke etc is fine throughout the day

I'm pretty sure it's okay. Atomic mentioned the 'Nirvana' brand on my sway.

I've never drank coffee really, and especially not diet sodas.
Am thinking the same as a lot of you ladies, may add soda or coffee as first 'meal' of day. Would diet soda be better than coffee ?

Oh isn't it!:worry: i've been drinking it everyday(for potassium) Its down in the pink 5 day meal plan maybe that's outdated.

Edited; Phew was worried there.

I have coffee as a filler in the morning and only one cup a day, im not a big coffee drinker either. I've switched from decaf to add caffeine into my diet because i don't drink fizzy sodas

I'm the same, I just don't like fizzy sweet drinks, but I'm willing to do anything that might help.
Nice to see another person from the Uk :)

I'm pretty much down to two meals a day. Some days are better than others in terms of snacking but I'm definitely better than I was. Good to know that the wine can count as a third "meal". I really need to get in the habit of doing MFP. I'll be good for a couple of days and then I forget to do it for a few days. I feel like I'm much pinker than I was when I conceived my boys so I guess that's a start.
Faithinpink - I think you're right. Without the coffee, I would probably be much more likely to cheat and eat breakfast in the morning.

Coconut water is fine for pink but it needs to be with meals bc it has a significant number of calories. Diet soda/crystsl light with effectively no cals is fine between meals.

Coffee in the morning and between meals is fine, most of us do exactly that in the morning. Technically if you want to follow the rules to the letter you would not have any sugar in this, only unsweetened or artificially sweetened. IDK if your creamer has many cals or carbs or sugar so I can't tell you specificaly if it's ok or not, but I will tell you this was one of my chosen cheats, I always ahd real sugar in morning coffee and got a girl doing that.

Wine is also supposed to be with a meal but again, many people break this rule, myself included

Both 2 and 3 meals are perfectly acceptible on LE Diet. Each individual should do what works for THEM and not worrya bout what others are doing on that. Either 2, or 3 meals (even if one is alcohol LOL) totally fine

Anything unsweetened or artificially sweetened is ok between meals, anything with more than like 5 cals should be with a meal

Coconut water does have cals so should be wiht meal.

If you can't eat and drink together 20 min. after is still fine

I think I may have very low potassium levels actually, last night I couldn't sleep cause I felt like I had restless leg syndrome (reminded me of being pregnant!), I think I'll get some coconut water today

Please keep in mind ladies, we have had good results with coffee but do NOT KNOW if it is caffeine or some other component of the coffee. I don't want you guys to try to get caffeine per se, I want you to drink COFFEE.

It could also be a magnesium deficiency. When I first started swaying I stopped taking my daily magnesium supplement and eventually became deficient (confirmed by blood tests). DH also always took a daily magnesium and within a week or two of stopping started having leg cramps in the middle of the night. I started him back on magnesium (3 times a week) and no more leg cramps. My kids have also had eye tics and night terrors that go away with magnesium. It's the stress relieving, calming supplement and also helps with sleep issues.
