View Full Version : E3d or e4d on clomid?

Hello,
So last month was an unsuccessful cycle and I now realize that I was doing too much ( le diet, cardio, one attempt, acijel, clomid etc)
This cycle is dropped acijel.
FF says that I am to ovulate today cd 14. I've been having strong O symptoms since early last week. My cp was high yesterday with ewcm so we made our attempt.
I had been opk'ing but I never really seem to get a positive so I don't really rely on them. Anyway, for whatever reason I decided to do one last night at midnight right before bed and it was positive (smiley face).
The only other time that I got a very clear positive I didn't O for a full two days. So now I'm wondering if I may not O as soon as I thought I would.
Ultimately my question is this; can sperm survive for a 3 day cut off in clomid affected cm?
I'll also add that when I did have ewcm it was so incredibly minimal and when we dtd I did orgasm.... on accident but maybe it was a good thing....

I would do E4D since you used acijel last cycle. Make sure you BD until 4dpo just in case. I would never advise using a jelly on Clomid, personally. I wouldn't go to E3D yet.
What CDs/dose of Clomid?
My cervix was weird on Clomid. It took longer to open fully before O than it usually does, and once it was open it took a lot longer to close. Very strange!

Bumping for atomic..... I just want to feel sure that I have a chance at getting pregnant with a one attempt 2 or 3 day cut off while on clomid.
We bd Saturday 11 am now it is Monday and all signs point to today as O day.

2 days before O is ideal timing and even 3 days is decent. 4 days before is lower odds but still totally possible on Clomid.

So I didn't get my temp spike today like I expected :-/ I have never ovulated past cd 15 so that kind of threw me off. I'm scared to wait until dtd tomorrow. I'm afraid I'm going to O today and then have a 3 day cut off.... I don't know why I have such a hard time wrapping my brain around the possibility of conceiving with a cutoff like that on clomid.
My cm is SO minimal right now but I do still have very very mild cramps (they were super painful last week and through the weekend).
Would it kill my chances of a girl to dtd tonight so that would put us at 3.5 days?

Thank you :-)
It's ok, I know she's very busy.
I think I will go ahead and bd again tonight.... that's 3 and a half days since our last bd so it's almost 4 but makes me feel like i have a better shot. I don't want to waste a month on clomid. And I really don't want a December baby, hah.

Of course I would be happy with a December baby :-) Fall is just the only season that I don't have a baby in so that is why I was hoping for it. October was ideal but eh that didn't happen!

Assuming Tuesday is O day, and you got a big spike today, it is unlikely that BDing Tuesday night would have any effect. I.e. the sperm wouldn't have time to capacitate before the egg dies. So I think you will be fine either way. Let us know what happens! I bet you will get your BFP this month.

I'm sorry I am not totally seeing a clearcut question here but will answer the one in the title
If you want best odds of conception, slightly higher chance of blue, e3d
If you want lower odds conception, slighlty higher chance pink, e4d
YOu'll need to start adding attempts within another month or two.
Yes, you can still get pg with cutoff and clomid but not best bet

When in doubt, BD. Never wait for me to reply. No matter what you did it's the right thing and YES YES i agree it's important to never waste a month on Clomid.

Hello,
Girls I need your pink advice.
Now I'm on the 3rd cycle on Clomid (CD3-7). Last two months were unsuccessful, we were doing frequent release with one attempt at positive OPK.
Maybe it would be wise to change our tactic to E4D? What about regular releases then? every 2 days?
Also I have to mention that after taking Clomid my period shorten from 29 to 26 days and I was having cramps from O till AF both months. I don't know maybe it's normal after clomid.
Thanks for advises in advance :)

Hi! Yes, it's time to change some things here.
I'd have hubby do regular release every 2-4 days and keep one attempt for one month personally before going to e4d but if you're ready to go for it that is fine too! Totally up to you. Either way, the FR has GOT to go now.
I also want you to start e4d AFTER that one attempt if you decide to give one attempt another try this month. So after your one attempt at pos OPK, start counting every 4th day and attempt those days (even if you think you've ovulated.) This covers our bases in case O is delayed.
Are you doing anything else like jellies or antihistamines? Lose them now.
Yes it's totally normal to have different cycle length and also lots of cramps on Clomid.

Hi!
Thank you Atomic for the answers and suggestions. We will keep one attempt for this month.
Just one more question about positive OPK. I'm using simple Clear Blue OPK. Last two months there were two days in a row with smiles (CD12, CD13), but second day lines were a bit darker. We were BD'ing the nights of first smiley days. Maybe we should switch BD to second smiley day?
We are not doing any jellies or antihistamines. Only wine :)
Thanks in advance :)

No, second solid smiley may miss O entirely. We have to give the sperm time to capacitate before egg shows up.
I would have you go to every 4 days instead in case you are Oing sooner or later than OPK is indicating.

Ok! Thank you Atomic for your time!
We will keep one attemp at first smiley day this month.
If we will need next cycle we'll switch to e4d. Just to be clear: e4d means 3 days between attempt days, e.g. BD on CD6, CD10, CD14, CD18 etc?

Ohh now I'm confused again about the e4d thing. I thought e4d was 2 days in between attempts. So Monday, Thursday, Sunday?

AGH, you're right, that is correct. I should never answer posts after noon, I start getting loopy after a while
The point is that in the worst case scenario the worst you can do is O-3 and O Day. So O-3 is Day One, then O-2, O-1, and O day is Day 4 and you BD again.
Now, some stretch that an extra day, that will only be pinker (more sure to be one attempt) but will not boost odds of conception as much, perhaps obviously
