I have done a unmonitored 50mg clomid cycle and now I'm on a 100mg clomid monitored cycle.
I'm CD 10 today and just had my 1st scan and it looks like the clomid didn't work, I have just 1 folical measuring 12mm. I have another scan on Friday to check that this folical is developing!
Would the clomid still sway girl even if it didn't work?
Feeling bummed cannot talk to my friends they just don't understand, they just keep saying things like "you already have 3 boys why do you want more?" Or "your lucky to have what you got, there is people out there who can't even have children"

Ops I apologise for that extra mid in the title not sure where that came from! And it won't let me change it now either!

I'm sorry you are feeling discouraged. I don't know anything about follicle sizes and what they should be but is cd 10 not still early? When do you expect to O?
And I agree... I have 3 boys and only a couple friends who know we are trying again... for me it's family that I can't talk to. Not sure why people feel they have a right to judge others family sizes and choices. Annoying.

I have awfully long cycles, I have pcos so For me without anything yes it would still be early.
but for most people who take clomid they would be ready to release an egg a few days after cd10, a folical needs to be at least 17-18mm. I was meant to have been approaching that and to have a hgc shot to trigger the releases the developed egg, then timed bd for 3days after. The nurses doesn't expect me to ovulate now for at least another week.

I did have trouble getting pregnant with my 1st three boys, not as bad as this though. Before my 1st I was told I couldn't have children at all. So I do know how lucky I am and I maybe pushing fate by trying for a girl but I just cannot push that feeling of long for a girl aside.
I do understand that there is people out there who cannot have kids, and I do know how they feel as I have been there and felt the same feelings as they do as mentioned above, but one friend who makes some of the comments is struggling to concieve too but she put off going to find out what is wrong for such a long time so I'm further up the list and getting treatment 1st, and now she is on the list she wants to take her name back off the list because it's such a long waiting list saying there is no point in waiting that long just to talk to someone then having to wait longer after until they actually do something.
I tried comforting her say not to do that because it costs nothing to stay on a waiting list, and she shouldn't remover her name otherwise she will never get to know what's wrong, and if she removes her name she maybe kicking herself in a few months time, and will have to go back to the bottom of the list, and I told her there maybe other cancellations and she maybe seen quicker! Also it might not take that long to start treatment after she has seen someone!
I try telling her everything I have learnt to see if it will help, Eg told her how to track her cycles because that could tell you a lot, to use ovulation tests, to bd around ovulation, but everything I say just falls on deaf ears, she won't track her cycle, won't test for ovulation and they bd when they can be bothered! She just expects it to happen.

I don't know why you assume Clomid is not working. You have a good-sized follicle already for CD10. I think you misunderstand how Clomid is supposed to work and what is a typical ovulation range on it, which ranges from 5-14 days after taking the last pill and average being 7-10 days after. I think you are unnecessarily stressing yourself out when so far all signs indicate things are working, even if it's not as quickly as you'd hope.

The Clomid worked, you just have to give it a little more time.
You don't WANT to see 6 follicles developing, that's how Jon and Kate got 6 babies!!

No not true. I see people fairly regularly who don't O for 3 weeks or so after their last pill.

I took it with DS1 and DS2. I didn't ovulate until CD23 on it, which was within the normal O range for me (CD16-CD26, but usually up in the CD20's).

What day do you normally O? I took clomid 50mg cd 3-7 this and last cycle and still o'd on my usual cd 15..... if you o in the very middle of the cycle that's still almost a week that it can grow larger :-)
Sorry about your friend. You just have to remind yourself that it's not your problem, you can't fix her situation or even help if she's not willing to put in any effort. And also, that is typical boy mom mentality! Wanting to fix everything, make your friend happy, solve her problems.... take a deep breath and separate yourself. I know it's hard to watch her struggle to conceive but if she won't take your advice there is nothing you can do. Maybe it'd be best to just distance yourself from the topic with her. It's not right for her to make you feel bad.

They said that at the clinic that it was good I wasn't developing more than one!
But I think they were expecting that the folical would be more developed and said most people do, if I don't fall pregnant this cycle then next cycle they said I would have injections!
No not true. I see people fairly regularly who don't O for 3 weeks or so after their last pill.
I talked about my last cycle on 50mg clomid at the clinic and that I didnt o until cd 38, I was told that was because the folical didn't start developing until much later.

What days you took it?
For me it worked developing 7-8 folicles but hei, I didnt got pregnant with either of them, I actually got after I gave up on it.
Cd10 is early. It starts growing now. 12 is a beginning, so have patience.
I think you are thinking in your psihic that only on Clomid you can get pregnant...pls stop for a minute and think positive!
You can get pregnant either way, using or not using Clomid...Clomid is just a little bump for PINK but it's not a 100% thing you get pregnant with it! Take my case...for a few months and lots of folicles, also 2-3 of them developing at 29 or 30 and still didnt got pregnant...so dont loose hope, you cant know which month is yours.
Oh, and just as an advice, I would give up internal u/s. That gel can hurt sperm.

I had to take clomid cd 2-6, :omg:also I have to have internal u/s no choice in the matter as if they don't scan they will not give me the trigger shot when I need it!:omg: thanks for the heads up though!

I very much agree with Bunny's first post. Also, drs cannot predict when you will O by looking at a scan. Follicles can grow at all different rates, and if you have PCOS the scan may not be all that clear anyway.
Even if you O late on Clomid, it will still sway pink. Good luck!

When I told my Ob that studies have shown the fact that that gel is killing sperm, he started to do abdominal and the "view" was same as with inside u/s so no worry. I would give up at those u/s..let the folicles develop and get pregnant without thinking if this is your month or not...I got pregnant when I had no hope at all and even if I had signs of pregnancy I didnt wanted to believe in them...so hei, it happend :)
Trust and pray to God. I'm sure your little one is there waiting to get to know her brothers soon :)
You know, they say, every baby choose his family, and God knows when is the right time to send her to you...so let Him decide when to send the little soul and just do your job in creating the body :)

Cd10 is really early for the scan but 12mm sounds ok. I think they grow about 2mm per day so by cd16 it might be about 24mm and ready for ovulation. You normally expect to O 5 to 10 days from last dose so that puts you at the 10 days. That might not be exactly what is going to happen but it shows it is possible.
Try to be positive :) Good luck!!
