Comments regarding DW's diet changes-
Increased carbs, decreased protein in general. Ate more vegetarian but still had occasional meat -usually poultry.
If diet was used, length of time before attempt?
6 months
Did you skip breakfast regularly?
Yes
Did DH change his diet with you?
Yes
Comments regarding DH's diet-
I cooked ground turkey instead of ground beef, and more vegetarian dinners so he ate what I cooked. We also cut out energy drinks although he had one energy drink this month he usually has a few a week.
DId you consume alcohol? Often- daily

DId you try to limit caffeine?
No, I drink caffeine regularly
Any Diet Details?
Cut out energy drinks as a source of caffeine and used crystal light with caffeine, diet soda, and coffee.
Any Diet Comments/Additional Info?
Did not limit sodium. I would eat freezer junk and ramen noodles sometimes. I also cheated and had a burger right around ovulation because we went out to dinner for Valentines Day.
WEIGHT AND EXERCISE
What did you weigh/BMI do leading up to O?
I believe somewhere around 155 lbs or so. BMI is about 29. Very overweight, almost obese.
Any Weight/Exercise related additional info/comments?
I did lose a bit of weight when we started ttc because I went off the bcp but i've always been a bit heavy and have suffered with disordered eating in the past so I did not count calories and did not make losing weight a priority. I figured that my weight could sway as I had conceived both of my sons right after weight loss when I was about 140 lbs and I figure I must be very fertile at a lower weight so a heavier weight may inhibit my fertility and potentially sway girl.

Did you do anything with Ions?
I have had lavender shower gel, hand sanitizer and body lotion for a while now. We also have a salt lamp but the bulb is broken so it just sits around as a decoration.
Moon Phase during conception?
Waxing Crescent
Did you use any Old Wives Tales?
We had a girl outfit between the mattress and box spring of the bed.
Things that make me feel great about my sway:
having just gone off birth control pills, having been on the diet for months, having a pretty stress free few months, the fiber and the alcohol since I was not a drinker before conceiving either of my sons. Also DH has gained weight since we conceived our son and was really partying it up this cycle as far as the drinking and smoking.
Things that make me nervous about my sway:
not losing weight, cheating on the diet a few times

Congrats again! Did you keep to fat, protein and cal limits? If not did you reduce fat intake? Did you eat 2 or 3 meals daily? Refrain from snacking?

You actually only had one attempt in the fertile window as it's next to impossible to conceive from BD after O. Were you using OPKs to determine O or what?

Did you exercise at all or were you a couch potato?

Fx for pink! When will you find out?

I reduced good fat intake so I wasn't eating nuts or avocados but I did have fat from cheese sometimes. I really didn't too strictly monitor protein or calories, just in general tried to eat mostly carbs, mostly less nutrient dense foods. I didn't really stick to the diet plan too strictly.
I did refrain from snacking. Maybe 1 or 2 snacks the entire month. Usually I would eat 2 to 3 meals a day. Not starting until after noon. If I did snack it was usually right before bed.
I used opks but only started using them on 2/11. I got a positive on 2/11 and negatives only after that. So I figured I ovulated right around 2/11 give or take.
The only exercise I did was walking and working which I work on my feet with lots of bending and stretching. So mostly couch potato.
Probably will wait until the 18 week or so point to find out the gender on ultrasound.
Sorry my sway is probably horrible >_> I really could have done better on the diet and sway in general but either way I know even without swaying at all there is always a chance of having either gender anyway.

Thank you so much for all the info! Your sway was good, far from horrible! Please don't think I'm trying to pick your sway apart or judge it, as that is not my intent at all. I categorise sways via my own system which requires more details than asked in the questionnaire, thus all my questions. I also like to see how different people manage the diet & sway overall, as there is so much variation. And I think it's great for other swayers to see those details, and realise that there's no one way to sway,

Less than 'perfect' sways are quite successful overall, and they actually tend to provide MORE insight on what factors are actually swaying most, especially if the details of those sways are public. So thank you again for taking the time to document your efforts. <3

No I didn't take it as you trying to pick apart my sway and judge it at all, but when you started asking questions and I really thought about it I kind of realized that I didn't sway nearly as much as I had originally intended to. O_O It kinda fell apart diet wise when I got comfortable with it. Then with drinking every night and alcohol gives me TERRIBLE munchies so I was just eating a third meal/snack right before bed. But from the essays I had read while planning my sway it made sense kind of to do that because it's keeping the blood sugar lower to eat all at once then my blood sugar was probably tanking while I was asleep every night especially with the alcohol added in. That was definitely a goal of mine to keep blood sugar low and just eat lower micronutrient foods altogether but I didn't focus too hard on the macronutrient component other than just having been in the routine of eating higher carb (not fortified carbs either. I avoided cereals, oatmeal, etc. It was CHEAP bread 88 cents a loaf bread, flour tortillas, crackers, rice, lean cuisines, etc.), and more vegetarian protein although I did eat cheese- and we switched from ground beef to ground turkey. DH probably didn't eat red meat more than once or twice the whole cycle which was a change for sure. I am still a bit worried about that burger right around ovulation but I feel like one burger could not entirely undo months of lower nutrients - not to mention it wasn't exactly the healthiest meal and the grease probably took a few years off my life perhaps prompting my body to produce a girl to help pass on my genes! LOL!
DH is also quite obese - mostly in the belly (higher estrogen maybe?) and doesn't have a healthy lifestyle at all -- lots of drinking and smoking - sedentary -- and he works nights so he is usually low on sleep and nocturnal generally. And he just SEEMS like a dad of a girl (of course that's not very reliable!). He's always been a bit more feminine and emotional although not overly so, he will cry at a sad news story here or there, not a fighter at all. I just feel like DH is set for a girl and I don't think I'm really set one way or another, after only 2 boys (1 is DH's and the other from a previous marriage -ex went on to have 3 girls with new wife, no boys), I've always been really docile and a girly girl but my boys were both conceived during very stressful times in my life. My first son was conceived as my marriage was falling apart and my second son was conceived during a time when my ex was trying to alter custody of our child and court is incredibly stressful for me. I have to wonder if the stress swayed in any way for the boys. Right now everything is really great. My job is really easy and low stress, my relationship is fantastic, my co-parenting relationship with my ex is going good, so hopefully that works in my favor as well!
Sorry for the life story but, like you said, it's all about collecting info on what is swaying and what's not and the survey doesn't necessarily have a data point for every tiny little factor in everyone's individual lives and circumstances.

Interesting, Hex. Alcohol gives me munchies too. Wine especially. I wouldn't worry about the burger around O as it's your overall pattern for weeks-months before O that matters. I believe the message we are trying to send by swaying has a delayed response, thus why swaying so far in advance is so important. I'm always very hungry for fat and protein around O and do eat more of them then, every cycle since swaying.

I wouldn't read into your or DH's personality too much. I don't think that matters as much as diet & lifestyle and innate biological aspects.
