View Full Version : Hello! I'm new and am desperate for a last minute girl sway!

Hello everyone, I'm new to this site and don't even know if I will be able to navigate it properly haha but I'll try!!
I have 2 gorgeous boys and now I am desperate to complete my family and meet the daughter that I have always longed for.
This is our absolute last try so I feel very nervous...
I will be fertile in 2 weeks so am needing some last minute advice. I have read a lot of the information posted here but am a little overwhelemed. I am planning on skipping breakfast for the next 2 weeks, cutting out red meat and foods high in fat. I am wondering if I should take an antihistamine prior to our attempt?
We will do missionary and jump and dump. Any other advice?
Thanks in advance :))

I urge you to do the LE diet properly for at least 12w before you begin TTC. Ideally you should do 1 hour minimum of cardio exercise daily 12w in advance as well. Everything else sounds good. Welcome and good luck!

Thanks for your reply, I might hold off this month then and continue the diet. In relation to the skipping breakfast part, I find that impossible so instead I have started having my last (of 3) meals at 4:30pm and then nothing until 7:30am breakfast which makes it a 15 hour fast. Is that ok?
Also should I add white wine into my diet?
Thanks again :)

Hello and welcome mummyofboys, they say white wine is good for your sway just as long as its drunk with meals and don't forgot to count the calories in the wine.
Good luck

Thanks for that, will do!
I have one more question regarding frequency/abstaining etc. My husband and I are very fertile (or at least we have been up until now so I assume we still are).
My question is should we abstain for a good 7 days before our one and only attempt? I'm pretty sure with our 2 sons we BD'd twice in the fertile window...

Either do 1 attempt at positive OPK *or* 1 attempt every 4th day. Good luck! x

I'm sure this question has been answered a million times but what kind of milk and yoghurt is most recommended for a girl sway? Low fat or full fat? Also should the yoghurt have no acidophilus in it?

Having dinner early and breakfast early is fine! A 15 hour fast overnight is fantastic. It doesn't need to be breakfast specifically that is skipped, it's the overnight fast that matters.
White wine is great for pink, just have it WITH meals and keep cals within your totals.
I'm not a fan of abstaining, I don't think it sways much and it inhibits conception. I think FR or regular release (DH on his own or with a condom with you) are better. No matter what, keep that one attempt at positive OPK. Every 4 days isn't quite as pink friendly so try the posOPK way if OPKs work well for you.
Low fat or even better fat free dairy is best for pink in general, though dairy is NOT necessary when swaying pink. A vegan diet is technically ideal for pink. Full fat dairy sways blue, particularly in large amounts.
Yogurt is fine! It's only high dose acidophilus/probiotic supplements that sway blue and need to be avoided. The small amount of acidophilus in yogurt gets destroyed by your stomach acid.

Thanks everyone for your input. Here is my current sway. Please feel free to make any suggestions/changes.
Peppermint tea daily
BD on CD 7 or 8 then day 15 (so only once in my fertile window)
Antihistamine 4-6 hrs before and then daily on 16 and 17
LE diet
Low or no fat dairy
Berries
Broccoli
No breakfast (or 12-15 hour fast)
No/little meat
No orgasm
Jump and dump after 5 mins
Rose quartz stone next to my bed (has been there for 1 year by coincidence!)
White wine or vodka /diet coke most days

The most important thing you can do at the last minute is to have only one attempt in the fertile window.
I also think alcohol at the last minute may help so I'd def. add that in.
While we do get best results with diet longer than 12 weeks, you need to do what you're the most comfy with and if your heart is telling you to try, then that may be what you want to do. It's your sway, your way. :)
I know it can be confusing at first so PLEASE just ask, ask, ask, anything you are not sure on. Welcome!

If you don't have PCOS or insulin resistance then have skim. If you do have those things then have full fat.
Don't worry about acidophilus in yogurt, your stomach acid really kills most of that off. what you need to watch out for is the acidophilus pills that dissolve in your intestines, not your stomach. :)

Thanks so much, Atomic. Your answers have helped a lot.
I have just introduced peppermint tea into my diet, however I was reading it could affect ovulation. I do not want this to happen.. should I the stop drinking it or just stop by a certain day in my cycle? I normally ovulate either day 17 or 18.
Also I have been reading about the different characteristics of CM and how it either sways blue or pink. Is there any meriy to this in your opinion? In the past I have noticed have lots of EWCM for several days at least... and I have 2 boys and always fall pregnant first go. Should I only BD while it's still sticky and creamy
or do you not think it has anything to do with swaying?
Thanks :)

Try stopping the pep tea at CD 14 or positive OPK whichever comes first.
CM may have something to do with swaying, but the problem is that we don't have enough information to really draw any useful conclusions whatsoever. We have people on here who've gotten boys with no CM (ME!) girls with tons, and it very well may be that whatever changes are going on it's not something we can see with the naked eye anyway.

It's not a "magic foods" kind of diet. Instead we go off limits. Some of us do like to avoid certain foods or eat mostly other foods but you don't HAVE to do that, it's really about your overall nutrient intake particualrly of calories, protein, and fat. You can read more about it here http://genderdreaming.com/forum/trying-to-conceive-a-girl/16780-low-everything-diet-nutshell-version.html

How are you going with the diet zoeb? Maybe we can trade meal ideas. For lunch I have been having low fat yoghurt with strawberries, cinnamon and a little bit of muesli (I pick out the dried fruits as I think they sway blue).
maidentomother
March 21st, 2016, 06:58 PM
Mama, I hope it's oat free muesli? Oats are best avoided. I wouldn't pick out the dried fruit, all fruit is great for pink. Great way to get cals too. I eat tons of dried fruit.

Yes, I accidently had oats for a couple of days and then when I came across it as a no-no on this site I bought one without oats. But to be honest, I am just trying to stick within the limits of the diet while still having small amounts of foods that are 'no-no's. If I be too strict with this diet, I know I will end up giving up and throwing in the towel completely. But yes, thanks for picking up on that, everyone here is so supportive and genuinely trying to help each other!
I am trying to relax about the whole thing and just do what I am comfortable doing. I have mastered the 15 hour overnight fast (the first couple of mornings were a killer!!), only eating 3 meals, NO snacking in between, sticking to the limits most of the time... I give myself a cheat here and there. Peppermint tea up until day 14 (I ovulate around day 17-18).
I have been having a wine or vodka most nights with my dinner too.
I am CD 7 and am feeling a little nervous about trying this month as I haven't been on the diet long. However, for several reasons we can only try this month otherwise not until the end of the year. I am nervous to try this month but not sure I want to wait til the end of the year? Whatever is meant to be will be I guess! I'm trying to be relaxed but it's hard not to be a little nervous and tempted to chicken out this month haha.

March 22nd, 2016, 12:22 AM
Oats a couple times won't hurt anything. I agree with your "no no-no's" approach. Women had boys and girls in Scotland where oats are a staple. :)
if you can only try this month, i'd definitely try!!!

Eek! I can't decide if I'm excited or nervous - I must be both haha.
I read the article 'the trouble with timing' and it does make total sense. However, I have one last (I hope) question before we DTD. My ovulation day is either day 17 or 18. I conceived 1st son on CD 16, then conceived (and miscarried) on CD 15, then conceived my 2nd son on CD 15. My question is, even though the timing thing isn't true, should I try and conceive on a different cycle day that I haven't tried before just to give it a try? Although from memory I never got oregnant on CD 14... just wondering from other mothers of 2 or more boys and THEN a girl... were they all conceived on different or same cycle days? I know that's a very broad question, I'm just starting to become undecided on which day I should DTD on.
Thanks again :)

March 23rd, 2016, 04:47 PM
We all feel that way, mama!
NO you should not try to conceive on a different CD. Technically, you always conceive on O Day anyway LOL because the egg doesn' show up till then.
Your cycle changes every month. Your O day does too. And swaying makes this even more dramatic. Your body doesn't KNOW what CD you're on, it really doesn't.
I got 3 of my 4 boys with cutoff but NOT on the same CD. - my first son I had sex right after I got off my period and it had to be like 5 days or more cutoff. the other one we were trying and then hubby changed his mind before I Oed but I got pg anyway, 3-4 days before O. My third was a Shettles opposite and I had sex 2 days before O. My 4th was a sneak attack.

March 23rd, 2016, 04:48 PM
Both O-1 and O-2 have good odds of conception. That's why we generally aim for one or the other. not because it sways, but because it's good chances of pregnancy with one attempt

Oats on occasion are definitely no sway killer, I just don't recommend regular consumption. I used to edit for a living so I'm a stickler for details.
I'm on CD10 and also O around CD18 (though hoping to maybe O CD15ish since I'm on Clomid). Nice to have a cycle buddy. :) fx for us both!

The thing is, we toss these things out there and then people take it SOOO far. They end up accidentally eating a scone and ending up hyperventilating thinking they ruined their sway. Hence, I mention it for the people who end up panicking over stuff like that. :)

Ok, so my attempt is in 2 days time (exactly) which will be CD15. I have, at the last minute, decided to add aci jel to my sway which I bought this afternoon. I read your essay, atomic, but just wanted to confirm that your latest recommendation is still 1/2 applicator 2 days before OR a fingertip amount morning or attempt an hour before. Just wanted to check that this is still what you recommend? Anyone else who has used this as part of their sway please let me know what you did! I won't be using any other gels, douches etc. And it will be just one attempt 2-3 days before ovulation. Any suggestions are very welcome! Getting excited! Thanks maiden and atomic for all your help so far

Hi Atomic, I will start testing soon but I have a feeling I am not pregnant this month. Just wanted to ask your advice, if I'm not pregnant, which sway tactics should I drop for next month? This month I did the following;
LE diet
Peppermint tea up until day 14
I attempt 2-3 days before ovulation (thinking of many maybe bringing it 1 day closer to ovulation next month?)
No orgasm
Missionary position, shallow penetration
Jump and dump after 1 minute
A fingertip of Acigel 1 hour before
Hot bath just before
Antihistamine 5 hours before
2 glasses of wine beforehand
I'm really keen to get pregnant asap whilst still holding onto some "good" sway tactics. Thank you for your help!

April 10th, 2016, 06:05 AM
Drop cut off (do one attempt at pos OPK instead), acijel, and antihistamine for sure. Maybe also hot bath and pepp tea.
Keep diet, 1 attempt, and alcohol no matter what. Diet sways the most, then exercise, then 1 attempt.
Are you only drinking on attempt night? That's fine, but daily would be more effective.

Here is how I would approach it. I would KEEP diet, exercise, alcohol, and one attempt (or every 4 days) as long as possible. The rest of the stuff is negotiable. So I would drop the things, one by one, or two by two, that you hate the most. No one knows what order to drop them in, so just start chopping the things that you absolutely can't stand another moment.
I would DEF. extend the amount of time before J and D to 5 min and lose the shallow release for next month though no matter what

Oh my gosh, it's that time of the month again - so exciting!
I am on CD 16 today and we are going to BD tonight. I have always gotten pregnant after BDing on day 15 or 16. Last month we BD on day 15 plus heaps of other sway tactics including acigel, antihistamine, immediate jump and dump, alcohol, 1 attempt etc.
I really want to get pregnant this month... it is also a new moon in about 12 hours ... which will be 1 day before I ovulate which is exciting!! Hence why I think this is definitely the month to get it right.
Tonight I will drop the shallow penetration and I will increase the jump and dump to around 5 mins. My question is, should I still do the acigel and hot bath just before? I kind of want to do at least 1 of those tactics whilst still wanting to get pregnant. I know you say, Atomic, that they aren't necessarily crucial but which would you recommend? I think I will drop the antihistamine... I have a moderate anount of creamy CM today (and yesterday).
Oh and I will have 2 alcoholic drinks tonight.
Any advice? Wish me luck!!

May 6th, 2016, 02:39 AM
Mama-of-boys best of luck! Personally I'd drop both the acigel and hot bath but if I had to pick between the two I'd say drop acigel especially if you're wanting a good chance at bfp this cycle. All the best and I just thought I'd put my two cents worth in just incase you don't get an answer in time :) ultimately you need to work out what you're comfortable with and I know it's really hard!! Hopefully there will be some more responses to help you reach a decision more easily :)

Hi there
I am also cd16 and attempting tonight!!!
I have stripped my sway down this month,
every 4 day attempts (due to ovulate today though)
no jump and dump (my cervix is off centre so feel this is prohibiting conception)
Hot showers before attempt
No acigel or lubes.
Alcohol and caffeine daily
Exercise and le diet.
Folic acid and fibre
Just feel ready to get pregnant now, starting to feel really run down.
Good luck with your attempt :)

Hi amazieng - I would not have any more attempts until you're ready to have THE attempt. For reasons we don't know, having more than one attempt in the fertile window sways blue.
While you can get pregnant from attempt 3 days before O, timing doesn't sway and it would be better to at the least compromise and go to 2 days before O. It's much better odds of conception and still fits in Shettles' recommendation.

Hi atomic! Thank you for your response. I just want to clarify something:
My fertile week is from May 16-23, ovulation most probably falls on May 20.
Which date specifically should I DTD? If swaying for PINK.
FYI, today I have watery EWCM which I know O is coming.
atomic sagebrush
May 17th, 2016, 11:53 AM
It depends on what you're trying to achieve for your sway. If you are a big believer in timing (I have 4 timing opposites both pink and blue so I am not a believer LOL) then you would want to have your attempt 2 or 3 days before you expect to ovulate. I do not recommend trying 4 or 5 days or longer before you expect O, not only does it not work but your odds of conception will be slim to none. Do keep in mind that it is always possible to ovulate sooner or later than you expect to and this is why timing is all very unreliable (even if it worked, which it doesn't, it's a crapshoot)
If, on the other hand, you're trying to achieve a relatively quick time to conception to allow yourself to get pregnant easily with one attempt (since that has been an effective tactic for us) and do not believe in timing, then I would have that one attempt to fall on the day before ovulation OR 2 days before if you want to compromise. Both one and 2 days before O are a good chance of conception with one attempt.
Mama-of-boys

I'm not pregnant...
This seems so strange as I have always gotten pregnant 1st go!
We didn't do shallow penetration and I waited around 7 minutes before I got up. We are definitely doing it on my most fertile day but I'm just wondering about our frequency. My hubby is 37 and I know you don't recommend it but the last 2 months we have abstained for 7 days before our 1 attempt. Frequent release won't work for us which is why I chose the 7 day abstain. Do you think I should maybe cut that back to 4 days to enaure healthier sperm? I want to keep the 1 attempt in fertile window no matter what...
atomic sagebrush
May 22nd, 2016, 02:48 PM
All the pink sway tactics do cut odds of conception.
Abstain has been disappointing anyway, so I'd simply have you have DH "do what he does" or have him release on his own or with you, with a condom, every 2-4 days, while keeping the one attempt.
