Hi. I wrote about this in the 2ww thread but was hoping to hear from anyone who may have had similar results to mine and what your outcome was. I see my ob tomorrow (there is no FS in my town) to discuss my options (was referred by gp following amh result). So I had bloodwork done on morning of cd4 this cycle and fsh was 28 and amh 1.8 pmol/L (these are the measurements they use in Australia so I'll post a conversion chart. I have read only a few success stories of natural conception still happening most with fertility drug help but almost everything I'm reading seems to lean towards IVF which is not an option for me. Are my results really that dire??? I have been ttc for 11 cycles had a bfp cycle 8 but miscarried at 5 weeks. Also have had at least 2 suspected chemicals. I'm 37, for the next three months anyway. TIA

Hi there. What is your doctor saying? If you are still ovulating, pregnancy is still possible.

I seen my gp yesterday who gave me results and referral to ob who I see tomorrow. I am still ovulating at least. My gp said there was nothing more she could do than refer me which is understandable.

Actually, those in your situation generally have the most luck conceiving WITHOUT IVF. Our bodies are better at producing, eventually, one good egg. Fertility meds can help though.

Doesn't think my situation is dire I still have regular cycles and am still oing plus I fell pregnant in december so we know I can. So happy and cant wait for next cycle to begin!!

Hi Pbn! I was almost in the same situation as you. I was TTC for 2 years with not one BFP. I was 337 or 38 when I started. I did end up seeing an RE and found out I have very low AMH .03 and elevated FSH...31, 23, etc. It does fluctuate each month. I was actually given clomid and just in my experience it didn't do well for me. I personally think femera is better for older women such as us, although we are not old :). But hopefully it will work well for you. I think TTC naturally without IVF would most likely be your best option. Believe me, I do know how how mentally ans physically draining it is to keep going each month but like Atomic always says, all you need is one good egg. I just think you have to keep pushing through each month and be ready for when the "Goldie the Golden Egg "COMES! It will come!! :)
Don't be doscouraged! You can most likely get pregnant, just may take longer and it will all be worth it in the end!!
And after 2 years TTC I am finally 27 weeks pregnant with a girl! So it can definitely happen!!

Here is what you have to understand. Even with TERRIBLE numbers you do still occasionally make a good egg. You just have to be in position to catch it when it shows up. You actually have a BETTER chance at doing that naturally than with IVF because you can try every month and you only NEED one egg. Whereas with IVF, if the month you're scheduled to go, and you're on the meds and so on, and that is NOT one of the good months (because they know about .001% of how this all works, and the meds may make older women make bum eggs anyway) then that's it, if you can only afford a month or two or three, what if those months were not good ones for you? It is game over, then. Plus you miss out on all the time where you were pretesting or on BCP or waiting for transfer etc etc etc. Whereas with TTC naturally you have 12 shots every year.

A lot of doctors won't tell people this because "to the little boy with a hammer everything they see looks like a nail" but it is true. It's just as valid to take the "little engine that could" approach as to do IVF and in the majority of cases (exception those who are independently wealthy and can do a zillion rounds of IVF) you'll have a better chance coming out of it with a baby.

I agree with DJ I would recommend Femara in this case. Clomid can make FSH rise. But, a lot of women have used it and had success so it's really up to you, you can give it a try and see what happens, the FSH will go back down once you're off it.

Thanks everyone and IVF was never an option I was just saying initially that IVF was what I was reading other ladies with my results were doing.

I may not need to fill that clomid after all anyway. I got a very faint bfp this morning BUT I wont believe it unless I see tests darken over the next week. Been here done this before.
