Got my +OPK earlier then expected - Please help!

Hello this is my first time posting. I have been a lurker for years. I have two boys and my DH and are trying for a girl to complete our family. I have been on the LE diet since October. I have lost about 10lbs. since being on it (was 119 lbs. now 109 lbs.). My dh has been doing FR for 5 days. We were planning on doing a few more days but I got a +opk (flashing smiley face) last night which is about five days before it says I'm suppose to ovulate. Should we bd tonight? I'm so confused. Does it seem to early to get it? I really don't want to mess this up.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I also to a test this morning and got another flashing smiley face. Could my cycle be shorter because of the diet?

My understanding was that a flashing smiley face meant you have higher estrogen, but you still needed to wait to get a solid smiley face which indicates the presence of your lh surge. So personally I wouldn't DTD just yet, because you could get days of the flashing smiley before you get a solid smiley. I could be wrong though, that's just my understanding, I've never used the digital ovulation tests myself.

Flashing smiley isn't a positive. It's a high reading which means you'll likely ovulate within the next few days to a week although it's not a guarantee. It's not uncommon to get three or four and sometimes a week's worth of high readings before a peak reading. Wait until you get a solid smiley and then DTD if you're doing one attempt at pos OPK. Hi becca and welcome out of lurkdom. Sorry I only just now spotted this.

FM is right, flashing smiley is NOT positive OPK. Solid smiley is.

But, when smiley DOES go positive, then YES YES BD right away if you haven't already. Diet can shorten your cycle.

FR has not been very effective as a sway tactic. I do believe it sways pink but it can also cut odds of conception. The important thing is that you're in with that one attempt and even fi that means a couple less days on FR that's ok.

When in doubt, BD!! Like let's say no one answered your question and you weren't sure, then BD just as a precaution. Diet since October and that low a weight means you MUST start having viable attempts because you're going to stop ovulation. No more weight loss, time to hold steady where you're at.

Thanks Atomic! So we still haven't DTD. I took a different opk test and it came up negative. My question for you is should I test with the digital tests more then once a day? I feel like they are very unreliable. Plus I wasn't feeling any O pains. I usually get super crampy before. Now I'm just starting to feel them. My chart still says I going to O end of the week. If I should test just once a day when is the best time? Thanks for all the advice. You've really helped me more then you know.

What CD are you on now and how many days of High readings have you had? I only test once daily between 12-4pm with the digital. I use cheaper strips 3-4 a day once I get a High reading or dark second line on the cheapies, whichever comes first.

I don't know which cd I'm on. It's says my high peak is on Saturday. I also use the cheap stocks as well but never had a dark line. I've used the digital sticks a couple times during the day last week and one said I peaked on Saturday and the other on Sunday. That's why I'm so confused.

digi tests are SOO expensive and yeah I feel not terribly reliable.

Most tests are best done after lunch, but a few are calibrated differently so follow directions on package.

I agree use cheapies to let you know when you're getting close and preserve those expensive digi tests.

So I took a digital test yesterday around 5 pm and got a negative. Took another after lunch today and got a solid smile. Should we DTD tonight? Can you go from a negative to a solid smile without the flashy in between? Thank you.

Beccanbd12, the advanced digital OPKs are meant to be taken with FMU and are generally not reliable taken in the afternoon unless you've already gotten a flashing smiley. It says in the pamphlet that if you miss taking it with FMU, then it may give an unexpected high reading. This is because these OPKs detect estrogen in addition to LH and estrogen peaks in the morning. The regular digital ones only detect LH and are best to be taken in the afternoon.

Thank you ksmom. So I took a cheap opk test this morning and the line was definitely lighter then the indicator line. Then used the digital opk on the second time I went to the bathroom. What do you think I should do? Take another test? I defiantly have ewcm that showed up this morning so that makes me believe its coming soon.

I DTD when i got the smiley, like the next night. I messaged Atomic about it because i kept getting negatives on all my test. I tried cheap ones, clear blue and first response. I don't know if im pregnant yet, im in the 2ww.
