Hi girls,

I'm new to this site and would love your advice.

We're ttc girl and about to start our first attempt in 2 weeks *excited*.

What I did so far:
– Changed my diet completely about 12 weeks ago to 1.200 (1.500 max.) calories per day – no breakfast, low sodium & low potassium.
– I have been tracking my cycles for over a year now by taking BBT and testing with OPKs as we are trying for O+12 (with only one attempt and 10 ten days abstinence).
– Taking supplements: Cranberry, LR (hubby) and a small amount of Calcium/Magnesium.
– Using Acijel/Replens to lower pH as it has been pretty high (of course!). I know that testing pH is not recommended on here so I decided not to stress about it too much …

I'm having thyroid issues (hypo) and due to that need to take hormone medications (levothyroxine). When I tried to figure out if it would affect my sway I read that hypothyroidism sways boy. Is that true? I can't imagine why it should sway at all – while taking the meds hormone levels are just fine? I really can't stop taking it but of course I'm worried now … :worry:

Also, I read that a short luteal phase sways girl. I have to take progesterone (prescripted) for 12 days after O to lengthen my luteal phase. Would a longer luteal phase sway boy then? :worry:

I was pretty confident about my sway before I read about it. What else can I do?

Do I have a chance of conceiving a girl at all?

I like most people to eat more like 1500-1800 cals but it's done now!

I really, really dislike O+12. Your odds of conception are SO low. But, I undersand wanting to try everything at least once. If you go more than 1-2 months with BFN we may want to change that and I want you to be very careful doing these strict sway tactics that really cut odds of conception when you're eating so little. I think you should pick between 1200 cals and O+12 - do NOT do both of them, if you want to try for O+12 we need you to eat more because you're going to stop ovulation at such a low caloric intake.

It's not that hypothyroid sways, it's that there are some things that cause you to have thyroid issues that may also be affiliated with more boys conceived (like PCOS). Please don't overthink this, we have TONS of people on here who are hypo and get girls. We talk about these things because we want to understand them, but that does not mean you cannot conceive a girl.

We have plenty of people on here who have boys and girls with short LP. Again, it's the REASON for the short LP that may sway, not the short LP itself nor the treatment for it. We believe prog. supplementation to be neutral.

You always have a chance of conceiving a girl!!! Remember, most people do it easily without even thinking about any of this stuff.

Thank you so much for your quick and detailed reply and your support, atomic sagebrush! I didn't mean to act impatient, I guess I'm just getting a bit nervous right now.

Regarding the diet I think I shouldn't worry about some extra calories now and I will definitely start eating more.
O+12 – as you said, I want to at least give it a try. I can totally understand why you are concerned about it though and it sounds like a good plan to me to rethink about it after 1 or 2 cycles.
What would you recommend instead?

Is there anything else I can do to make an even better sway? I read about the vinegar/lime douche before and/or after dtd but I'm worried if its really safe to use it?

Please don't douche, it doesn't help. One attempt at positive OPK would be better than O + 12, just as good for pink but WAY higher odds of conception.

No not at all, it's just that people don't always realize i'm just a mom like you guys and so while I do try really hard I can't always get through q's as fast as we'd all like me to. :)

Having one attempt on O-2 or O-1 is both VASTLY, VASTLY better chances of conception than O+12. Timing doesn't sway, but one attempt does (for reasons we can only guess at) and so it is best to have that one attempt at a point in time you actually have a chance of conceiving. Explained in mind numbing detail here http://genderdreaming.com/forum/trying-to-conceive-a-girl/35539-no-12-a.html

The things that are really working are LE Diet longer than 12 weeks, coffee, alcohol, fiber, one attempt, and cardio exercise. The rest of it is all just cutting odds of conception and really not adding anything to the sway. I know it feels counterintuitive but what happens is, the more stuff you add, it DOESN'T make your sway any better, it just keeps you from getting pregnant. Then you go on and on without conceiving and either you stop ovulating and have to give up the diet and exercise (which actually does work) OR people panic and give up swaying in order to get pregnant. It's best to start off focused on doing what works and then pick and choose a few other things you believe in, instead of doing so much you may as well be taking a birth control pill. :)

I'm not the worlds biggest fan of douching, if you must do it, use a storebought vinegar and water douche about 4-6 hours before attempt and use only the Acijel.

maidentomother, atomic sagebrush – thank you for taking your time and answering my questions, I really appreciate your help.

So, that means I would not need to use Acijel/douching at all? Should I stop checking pH completely? That would make it so much easier.

I decided NOT to exercise because I know that I definitely won't be able to do it at least 60 minutes every day. But of course I'm going for walks with my kids every day.
Would bike riding from time to time (just for fun, not intense) count as exercising?

Barely any of us are checking pH any more. A lot of us have pH opposites so it's easy for us to give up on. If you're going to live a thousand lifetimes of regret if you don't test, then do it. But as someone who got a boy with pH of 4.5 and then a girl without testing at all, I felt like the testing made me too overly focused on my sway and obsessive about it in a way that may sway blue anyway.

I want you guys to live your lives, go for walks with the kids, and so on. Don't worry about stuff like that. The occasional bike ride is also fine.
