View Full Version : Does caffeine sway pink or blue?

Three Of A Kind
April 4th, 2016, 03:24 PM
Hi ladies I am new to this forum and I am really confused about caffeine and it's use in TTC a girl. I have three boys and I have always been a huge tea drinker (the regular kind). I assumed that the caffeine in the tea played a part in me having boys. However, I read here that coffee is advised when swaying for a girl. Does that mean that it's not the caffeine that sways blue but something else thats in tea? Also, how much coffee is recommended? I can easily see myself swapping my tea habit for coffee if it helped!! Any advice welcome. Thanks x

This has me confused too. I drink a lot of coffee and I have 3 boys as well.

Yes I think that's the idea although I don't believe we know exactly why. Just that it seems as though big tea drinkers are having boys while big coffee drinkers are having girls. I've always read that tea actually has higher amounts of caffeine than coffee but maybe not as strong or something? I drank neither coffee nor tea and I have 4 boys.
I think 2-3 cups/day is good. I'm having about 3 large mugs per day and swaying for a girl. I would just cease the tea drinking and take up coffee instead.

The truth is that we do not know for sure, BUT for reasons we do not understand coffee seems to be "pinker" than tea. I got my 4 boys drinking gallons of tea (and plenty of caffeine!) and then my girl with coffee. Coffee has been very effective for us and it's proven by our results.

The old school belief was that caffeine swayed blue because "it causes calcium to leach from your body" but that has been 1000% debunked. Caffeine does NOT cause calcium to leach from your body (if calcium even sways, which it may not)

3 cups a day minimum on coffee

Some people will decrease coffee intake in that case with the idea of doing the opposite of what you did when you got your boys. But it could be that the rest of your diet was very blue and overrode the pink aspects of lots of coffee.

None of these things are 100% effective and there are always people who a particular tactic isn't true for. But some things, you get boys or girls not BECAUSE of this one thing, but in SPITE of it. Swaying is like looking at an iceberg, the stuff we can see is like this teeny part of it and the bulk of it all is down under the waterline where we cannot see it. All we can do is do what has worked for most people, most of the time, and coffee has been a solid tactic for us!

I understand the urge to "do the opposite" but I think that is usually a step in the wrong direction. Let's say a person was 80% likely to conceive a boy and was drinking coffee and that got them to 75% likely to conceive a boy. 5% is nothing to sneeze at with swaying, it's still swaying pink, but that person would still be way more likely to conceive a boy, if that makes sense. So again, I think it's best to do what has worked for the majority most consistenly instead of "doing the opposite". :)

I'll replace the tea with coffee so! Thanks for the swift replies, it's great to have a definitive answer.

Definitely replace tea with coffee if you want a girl. I drank green and white tea daily when I got pregnant with my boys. So did my other best friend who has two boys. We have both switched over to daily coffee now (and she is currently pregnant with a girl)!

Could it be to do with adding milk to regular tea and upping blood sugar? I used to drink both tea and coffee all the time but added milk to my tea. I've quit tea now and I have 3-4 black coffees a day. Hoping it helps me to conceive a girl!

i have that thoughts too.

so my pink sway now is from coffee with milk during breakfast/dinner to black coffee during lunch/dinner :-)

Could be, but not everyone is drinking black coffee. And lots of women were drinking black tea and still getting boys.

I have recently read that coffee should be avoided by people with pcos or IR issues so what's the take when swaying pink if you have those issues?

It's never just one thing. You probably lived a very boy-friendly lifestye correct? Snacking, eating full fat dairy, multiple attempts in fertile window, high fertility, taking vitamins and supplements, eating healthy foods, eating breakfast, etc are all boy friendly. Just drinking coffee, but continuing to live a very blue lifestyle is probably not going to help anyone get a girl.

I personally strongly disagree with that recommendation as coffee has been shown to help prevent type 2 diabetes and I still recommend it for swayers with PCOS/IR. I think it's one of those leftover knee jerk "coffee is evil" ideas from years ago before they realized the health benefits

If you're concerned about it, skip it. I wouldn't sub in tea though as that may sway blue

It is just ONE THING in your overall life. Even if it sways like 5%, if you go from 80% likely to conceive a boy to 75% likely to conceive a boy, that's still a heck of a lot of boys conceived.

Our results show clearly it's swaying pink. That doesn't mean you can't drink coffee and conceive a boy, you can, but it DOES mean that you certainly shouldn't avoid it for pink!!!

Ok I know this thread is a bit older but quick question for those of you swaying girl and drinking coffee, are you adding milk, creamer, sugar or drinking it black? And if you are drinking it with cream and sugar, how long do you let yourself drink it before your first meal? Just wondering how much I am ruining my sway by drinking coffee all morning with cream and sugar...

I have mine with a dash of milk and sweetener. I have it first thing in the morning. If i have another coffee it will be with meals.

I also have 2 cups first thing in the morning with sugarfree sweetener and a dash of skimmed milk. I also have another cup in the afternoon before dinner. If I drink if just after a meal I put full fat milk and real sugar (but I might learn my self to drink it without sugar as it is not healthy).

I'm trying so hard to drink coffee but it ruins my sleep so badly. I'm going to try a diluted version and try to work my way up to s full cup lol. Before my sway I never drank coffee tea pop CL alcohol only water. Yup I'm boring.

Also I just wanted to mention something interesting DH said to me that hit me thinking.... He's very big on intermittent fasting and he thinks it's cool that I go about 15 hours everyday without eating from dinner to the next day's lunch. Well he told me that when he was looking into intermittent fasting they recommend "drinking black coffee" around 9am to curb your appetite for the rest of the day. Also he said coffee is an appetite suppressant. So fir me at least because I don't drink it so drinking it now will have strong effects... It might make me more successful in delaying my first meal and help prevent me from snacking.

I find that decaf coffee does the same thing for me. You may want to try that, since regular coffee effects your sleep.

I was drinking my coffee all day long but as soon as I woke up. With my first daughter, with splenda and then switching to truvia and natural creamer. I hate black coffee.

I drank black coffee or coffee with a tablespoon of sugar free syrup (like Hazlenut flavor) and a bit of unsweetened almond milk. I was intermittent fasting and would generally go 16-20 hours with fasts, with only coffee "breaking" it. I had only 1-2 cups (often had other sources of caffeine too, like diet Pepsi)

It IS a cheat, but it's a cheat that I too chose to have. I find my will to live goes away without sugar in my morning coffee haha.

Coffee whiteners are fine in small amounts any time. Sugar should prob. be with meals but I used it and still got a girl. I had it JUST ONCE in the morning though, 2 cups within a few minutes, and did not have it all morning long.

thank you girl moms for chiming in here!

This is the first thing where I heard what the "old school" sway gurus had to say on the topic and knew it just could not be right. EVERYONE I know IRL or thru swaying stuff online were all girl moms drinking tons of coffee. The boy moms were mod intake and often quit prior to conception.

What time are you drinking it??

Just don't drink it after 4, or 12, depending on what you respond better to.

I drank it at 8am. I bought an instant coffee mix and I'm only going to have 1/8-1/4 tsp of it to start and slowly work my way up to a full serving.

Caffeine IS a drug, so if you're set on including it in your plan, you will acclimate to more and more over time (barring certain medical issues that can make caffeine always super jittery inducing/sleep disturbing)

I always ate with my coffee, if I didn't I got jittery. I'd eat wheat toast with natural peanut butter and it lasted all morning long. During eating my toast I'd have like 3 cups of coffee each cup more diluted than the other.

I hope this helps. Here's an option... If you are really affected by the coffee I'd try 1/8 of the weakest coffee grounds. I always found instant coffee stronger, haha. I was actually drinking instant coffee (in moderation) when I conceived DS. It was after him that I started drinking real coffee by cups after that.

Good luck!

I personally drank sugar pop with at least 3 of my boys. But I don't recommend it for swaying blue because I don't think it is adding anything beneficial for blue, and it is "empty" calories wihtout nutrition that you could better "spend" on things that do have nutrition in them.

Hi, I have been reading lots on here and it's really useful, Thank you. However I can't seem to find out whether dh should drink coffee for a girl sway? Should he drink a high amount or non at all? As I read somewhere low/moderate can sway boy? I hope I'm okay to post this here..I realise the thread is not new. I will update my sway soon.

The last thing you need is a cranky husband with a raging caffeine headache the day of your attempt.

If you want to avoid it for a few hours beforehand that's fine.
