View Full Version : My tech may be wrong?

Hey y'all!
We had a scan at 15w6d and had a peek at the gender! But, I think the tech may be wrong on this one. Of course, she is the expert but I just don't see what she sees!
I have cropped out her guess on the pic. I want to know what you all think!
I normally wouldn't question her. She has done all of my ultrasounds for 4 pregnancies- one miscarriage, two daughters and now this one. I think my scan was just early so it is making me doubt the outcome. 30725

Have you googled ultrasound gender potty shots for comparison?? That looks very much like the typical turtle boy shot x

I have googled so many ultrasounds that I feel like an expert! Haha!

When is ur anatomy scan ?. Its too early but i would say girl. Girls start out as boys and then regress. All babies develop at different rates. If that was a penis u would see scrotal sac too but there r none.

It was certified! At my doc's office. My doctor didn't check over the scans, said she would for 20 week anatomy scan. This was just the tech saying girl.

Hmm interesting ! I mean it is tricky pic u got there but then a live sono is different than one still image in time. how confident was ur tech with this girl diagnosis ?

Sorry I thought this said 13 weeks! I still think girl though but only because none of my boys looked like that and I don't see clear scrotum.

I have wondered how certain she was. She didn't say...which makes me think she was pretty certain! She said, "...ok, and you want to know the gender?" Then said, "It's a girl." Very matter of factly. I didn't question it because we have two girls already- so it was sorta expected, lol.
But once I started looking at the ultrasound I wondered if she is just really swollen at nearly 16 weeks, or if that could actually be a boy.

My first thought was boy as well, because it doesn't look like my 16 week shots with this baby. But I am sure your tech knows better than I!!!

Lala - is this something you saw with your little one??
I'm always trying to learn and this last few potty shots have thrown me for a loop!! If you have a moment I'd love to hear why this looked girl to you.
The tech did a potty shot on my girl just shy of 14 weeks. She could not tell me the gender but she was looking out of her own curiosity when she heard I had 4 boys (and she got very excited at that point haha). There was just nothing there at all. So that is what I've been expecting to see with girl potty shots ever since but now wondering if again, this is something that very well may differ by individual baby. :)

I'm not sure I'll be able to explain this every well but I'll try. To put it simply, to me this looked exactly like a vagina...it looked like a "m". Boy parts tend to be more defined and while 14 weeks would be hard for a potty shoot, I think 15 is totally do-able. My boy at 15 weeks had a defined penis sticking out straight away from the body. I'm by no means an expert- could have just been a lucky guess. Lol. But looking at it again and again, I still see vagina. Haha

I'm slow to this, but I thought girl as well. It looks just like my 15-week girl potty shot with the twins. Like, it looks like a tulip bulb with a stem coming out the back/bottom.

You know, I don't get on here much anymore...but I always like to see the updates. I was seriously baffled when everyone was calling boy on this, I couldn't see any boy parts at all! So I struck it up to be being NOGOODATALL at nub guessing. Maybe I'm better than I thought hahaha.
