I was just reading the post on swaying after a loss. It mentioned having dh stop licorice root and maybe instead trying OLE.
I was just curious if anyone knows how far in advance of the sway attempt, and if olive leaf is comparable in dose and efficacy to olive leaf *extract*.
I know it's largely an unknown area, but if anyone has thoughts or experiences I'm very interested.
(If I can even get dh to take something again... He hates pills!)

I have mine take the liquid form. I give him little under the daily limits recommended on the dose. There is one with taste of peppermint. This is not so awfull as the plain one. Both taste discusting though. I heard that it take around 70 days for sperm to form, so he should take it 3 months prior your first Ttc-attempt.

My DH takes the capsules-- two 450mg capsules a day. He's been taking them for months.

These are two different things though. Stopping LR is something I would recommend but it is NOT replaced by OLE, I just want you to understand that. OLE replaces cranberry, not LR, so if he's doing cranberry TOO, he needs then drop BOTH LR and cranberry and go to OLE (hope that makes sense)
They have the liquid OLE and some guys do better using that. In that case use the dose on the bottle because they vary in how they're formulated.
As long as the doses are in 500 mg then regardless of if they say olive leaf or extract they should be the same thing.

My DH takes LR and cranberry and I'm really unsure about the LR after reading the latest spreadsheet. Should I have him stop it do you think? Is ole better than the cranberry?

My dh stopped because he was concerned about his blood pressure. He doesn't have high bp and I explained how unlikely it would be for two 14-day courses two months apart would be to cause any lasting issues, but he is uncomfortable so we ditched it.

I think the numbers on LR are a statistical quirk and nothing more. We had LR sitting at 70-80% range for years (and was also successful on IG where they ALL take it without our concerns towards safety) until this past year when seemingly inexplicably it has dropped in success levels. I DO NOT think that LR is swaying blue. It makes no logical sense either biologically or given our previous results.
What I do believe has happened, and this ties in with the OLE vs. cranberry debate as well, is that we have two different groups of swayers using two different sets of sway supplements. People start off on LR unless they are older, in ill health, low sperm count/bad quality, or on medication that interacts with LR. Same with OLE vs. cranberry, older guys, bad health, bad swimmers, on meds use OLE, everyone else uses cran. Over time if BFN we drop it (within 4-6 months eveyrone will have droped LR and switched from cranberry to OLE). This ends up meaning that ONLY the people who are very fertile and getting pregnant quickly are in the stats for LR and cran, and those who are less fertile and have been TTC a longer time (longer on diet and possibly less fertile as well) are getting pg without LR and on OLE.
See how this skews the results??? People who are super fertile and getting pregnant fast (possibly without even enough time on diet) are probably coming in more set for boys. People who are taking longer to get pregnant may be not only less fertile but also on diet longer and
I believe in LR and I will continue to recommend it until/unless I have some evidence proving to me that it sways blue and HOW.
THe stats we keep are NOT scientific and are very nearly for entertainment purposes only. you guys read WAY too much into them. THey are not a scientific study in any way.
Now then - anyone who's been TTC 4-6 months and getting BFN, yes this is cerainly something to consider changing up (dropping LR and going to OLE instead of cran) and all guys should drop LR after 6 months anyway.
