View Full Version : I've had my Sylk since Feb 2010. Throw it out?

Should I throw it out? It's a year and a half old. Time for a new bottle? WDYT? It's still pretty full, but I worry about the quality of it. It's yellowish...not sure if that's normal. How long are you supposed to keep lube?

I'd prob discard it if it has changed colour.

That's the thing - I can't remember if it's always been that color or not! LOL

I'll just go ahead and buy a new one so I'm not stressed about it. :)

Thank you! We didn't use it in the end. Our attempt was early in the morning and it was still dark - I had put the Sylk out the night before thinking that we'd use it but I thought it would completely spoil the moment to turn the lights on and start messing around with that. Poor DH was struggling to finish anyway as he'd already released twice the day before! I did use Rephresh 2 days before our attempt and 1/4 tube Aci-jel the night before.

Apparently if it gets old, it goes yellow. It prob still works but better safe than sorry.

it would be because of vitamin c content from the kiwi vines.
it will change colour over time once it has been exposed to air, but should still be ok.
the same thing happens to natural moisturisers and oils , if they contain fruit or plant extract.

when you get a new sylk, if you look carefully it has the slightest yellow/green tinge, this just gets darker and more noticable as the vitamin c oxygenates.

Thanks for the explanation! :)

I went ahead and used it a few days ago, but I got my new one now so I will be able to use that from now on. :)
