So I'm onto CD 4 today and it's like my period has stopped. The first day I had medium flow but then CD 2 and 3 were light and today it's like stopped. This is strange for me and has me worried. I used to have a 7 day period and the first 2-3 days would be heavy and I would need to take panadol for first day at least for the tummy pains. This cycle I have barely had any pain. I had D & C in August of last year and didn't get first period after that until October. This cycle now has definitely been the shortest so far. All others since November have still lasted about 6-7 days. What can this mean? (Other than Ashmerman's Syndrome?) :(

I'm sure it's not Asherman's syndrom - that is very rare. However, as we get older cycles do change slightly, even more so when we are worrying about things. My cycles were always 23/24 days, and started again pretty quicky after my HT m/c when I was 44 but the month before I was due to cycle again, 5 months later, I had the most weird cycle I'd ever had. Try and relax and not worry about things - easier said than done, I know! x

Have you had your hormone levels checked?

Estrogen is what builds up the lining and if it is low your period will be lighter.

That's what I'm worried about MrsGoodies. A hormonal imbalance. I didn't even get a fourth day. Just three days starting off with a medium flow and ending in spotting. I'm really worried and feeling down about it. I do have a form to get a full thyroid panel test and a test to have done on CD 21 (or 7 days after O - whichever comes first)? That part is tricky for me as I usually O on CD 17 or 18, not 14, so would be pointless me having the test done on CD 21 wouldn't it? Can you get a medication if you are low in estregen? 3 days! I have NEVER had a period that lasted for just 3 days. :(

You can get estrgen patches and/or pills to increase estrogen levels but be aware high estrogen levels sways BOY!

It is low estrogen that sways girl and its what the girl diet does (lowers estrogen = no ewcm)

Its such a fine line.

Another way to increase estrogen is going on Gonal F (more follicles = more estrogen)

***estrogen and FSH should be tested on cd 2-3.***

The cd 21 test is progesterone to see if you ovulated...which you can see you did from temping...

Huh. Is a heavy flow a sign of higher estrogen?

Thanks MrsGoodies. I've been sooo worried about this today. And to be honest, I haven't really been doing any sort of diet. I have been having 3 serves of red meat per week and eating a bit of chocolate lately (my weakness). I even think I have gained a bit of weight as opposed to losing it. I don't know. Will see what my doc says on Friday. And have an app with that Ob/gyn specialist on 18th May, unless I get a referral for an RE on Fri from my doc, which I might just do yet.

1moregirl,

Well I hope those dumb dr have a bit of tact and dont disourage you from ttc. So please take what they say with a grain of salt.

Honestly, no matter what there is really not much you can do other than ttc, hope and pray. I got so wound up during my hi tech cycles listening to the dr gloomy stats....it wasnt until i just said "F--k it!" That i just let go and started to enjoy myself. Whatever will be will be. In a way it is liberating.

As for swaying, the biggest girl sway factor is you and DH age...this is probably due to lowering of estrogen levels so take heart...when you *do* finally catch that golden eggy it is most likely to be a girl :curtsey:

If you could please ask questions only in ONE thread I would really appreciate it. This is the third time I have answered this question and I understand you're wanting lots of different responses but I try to reply to every q posted to avoid having tons of unanswered questions, and it makes it take a lot of extra time for me.

It is normal for cycles to change over the course of time and deffo in our 40's. It can be related to diet altho I know you' haven't been overly strict so I doubt it's that.

This is a normal cycle still and has happened only one month. I think you're reading way too much into it.

I have had my cycles gradually get shorter and lighter too. They're only 2 days long now with a day of spotting. But I only ever had 3 day cycles anyway and I got 5 kids that way. It is absolutely possible to get pregnant with a 3 day short cycle (and I would also point out that what happened THIS cycle tells you nothing about NEXT)

This is what I am worried about too. I think they're going to be very discouraging and I feel like you're putting yourself into a situation that will solve nothing and make you really upset because of anxiousness when really I'm not sure at all that anything is even wrong. There's nothing in this that would suggest to me that anything is amiss. Of course anything is possible and all that but just go in guarding your heart in case they are not very nice about it. :/

Not necessarily. It can be for some people but it can also happen with low estrogen if the blood doesn't clot easily or if you haven't had a period for a while and things have kinda built up.

I don't know how great this is going to be for girl sway but I've had to go out and buy DH a multivitamin as he has just been way too run down and over-tired and had a sore throat virus thing for a months now. I really didn't want to have to do it, but I don't think we have a choice. Health has to come first right?

I seriously doubt that sways much for DH anyway. He's not the one that has to carry a baby for 9 months

My husband has some creeping crud like that too. Just goes on and on and on with a really sore throat. :/

Thanks Aotmic. That makes me feel better already. I'm onto CD11 today and had a mix of pebbles and ferning this morning on my saliva thingy (had pebbles the last two days) so I'm thinking perhaps I may O earlier this cycle, which might make sense i guess considering I didn't have much of an AF this time round. I have two slips for blood tests from two diff doctors. And I still have app on 18th May with Ob/gyn/FS which I will def keep. I am a bit worried though as I have completely slacked off with diet (except for eating red meat twice a week at the most) and eaten some naughty sweet things and think I have gained some weight as opposed to losing it. As the weather has been getting cooler here I haven't been exercising nearly as much either, so I think I need to clean the exercise bike and bring it in from the garage and start using it again. Anyway, that's where I'm at right now. I also just had my flu shot a few days ago too.

You may O earlier but it has nothing to do with how long AF is! Just so you know. They operate independent of one another.

Don't worry about diet, usually even when you slack off you're doing better than you think. :)
