Can coffee delay ovulation? I remember when I was TTC my son, I stopped drinking coffee as it seemed to make my cycles extra long on the months I was drinking it every day at work.
Is there a link or was it coincidence?

Not that I've ever heard of and has not been the case for me personally - anyone ever had this happen???
My suspcion would be it may be coincidental - you were drinking it a lot at work because you weren't getting enough sleep or were under stress and needed to get a lot done??? Lack of rest and stress may cause a delayed O. But just because I haven't ever seen something happen doesn't mean it couldn't.

Thanks atomic. I've since read that it raises estrogen. So maybe that was why x

So they claim, but other studies found that it has no effect on hormones at all. It may very well be the case that people who had the most coffee had unhealthy lifestyle factors in other ways (drinking, smoking, unhealthy eating habits, lack of exercise, poor sleep) and most of the studies were done in overweight people anyway, so this may very well be a false finding. This is one thing that the science is not "settled" on at all. :)

raising estrogen would probably NOT delay O anyway, because you're supposed to be high in estrogen before ovulation occurs. That's how the menstrual cycle works.
Again, I'm not trying to secondguess you here in any way and want to hear from anyone who's had a similar situation, I'm just trying to keep it accurate for your sake and others reading the thread as to what the biology is seeming to indicate. :)
