Fav new lunch to share with you:

2 low fat tortilla wraps
Salad
Cheddar 30g

Finely chop lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, spring onions and coriander leaves. Stick in a bowl and drizzle with lime juice, add black pepper and some chili flakes. Leave for a few mins to merge. Put half in each wrap, add the grated cheddar cheese and fold up! Yummy!

Came to 434 cals, 13g fat, 16g protein

Yesterday I ate way too much grated cheddar on my supper and was way over limits. Sigh. Guess I'll call it a cheat day. Today I'm probably good. I basically just ate white rice and beans for lunch and dinner (leftovers, fridge is nearly empty). I might go eat a waffle with a bit of peanut butter before bed.

I've been way under on everything, despite having a 4th small snack. I guess I needed it!

My DH is gone at a conference for 5 days, and even though I have my In-Laws to help me, things have been a bit stressful. I don't eat much during this type of stress. My milk supply is fine, thank goodness! Hopefully it translates to more weight loss!

Keep up the good work ladies! We can do this!!

Hi All
Hope it's ok I join in here. I've just started the LE diet in preparation for TTC in October. I've gained a lot of weight in the past year, so probably good timing to get that under control also!

Hey i just wanted to mention that since I can't always keep up with these support threads, when you have a specific question on diet stuff, please start a thread so I can reply. I was involved in a couple ongoing q's on this thread but I'm gonna stop reading it now, so please don't forget to start a thread so I can answer your q's.

Well just come back from a weeks hols to Cyprus and I did so well with diet. Just coffee for breakfast, a brown roll with light cheese, a pkt of rice crisps and a mango for lunch. Then a different salad each night for dinner. I had sushi salad two nights, prawn salad one night then just different fruits and cheeses on salads the rest of the time. I had two cheats of apple pie with a scoop of ice cream but that's it. We walked every night for a least an hour and I swam around the pool for an hour three nights too. Was so dreading that I would cheat but it was rather easy as we were in a hotel so I only ate what I ordered. Just weighed myself and I lost a lb, I do think that it's probably because it was so hot I sweat it off!

Doing ok girlieplease I just needed to step away from things for a while. Our next attempt is Thursday I think, good luck with yours.

I know what you mean navywife I'm a big fish eater and when I visit family they have always made me something special. I just put plenty on my plate of what we can eat so it looks like I'm eating plenty and I've even put things on my hubbies plate so I don't cheat!

Ok so today I'm having lunch in a pub with friends so there'll be lots of calories and few veggie options, but I'll choose one anyway. Knowing that the lunch will be fatty I'll have a buckwheat/pearl barley veg salad for dinner. Filling and low fat

I seem to be living off salad pittas or roast veg at the moment. I found some mushroom and spinach kievs in Waitrose which I had last night with my roast veg and it was very tasty. Need more ideas for pcos meals because when I get bored I cheat! Having a quesadilla made with corn wraps and pizza sauce for dinner, I'll probably add mushrooms, onions and a little mozzerella to them. My little cheat after dinner is always a Soreen squidgy cake mini in either toffee or chocolate. For lunch I've been having two slices of wholegrain toast with a spread of lighter butter and a large piece of water melon. Next attempt is any time now so I'm being super strict and it's killing me!

And why do we have to be on the diet for a long time in order for it to be more effective? I would think that by doing it hardcore around the time of ovulation and maybe a week before would have the same effect?

I need to be enlightened!

Overnight fast of 12-16 hours, so 12-15 hours from last meal until the first meal of the day. Between meals, basically as long as you can. Obviously if you need 3 meals two of them will be closer together. The main thing is no snacking and a long overnight fast.

It takes time for the changes we are making to our body to register that maternal condition has been lowered. Both on this site and with the Trivers Willard Hypothesis, 12 weeks on the diet is the sweet spot.

If it only took a week of hardcore dieting, the whole human race would have long died out and everyone would have their desired gender. When we are changing our environment, we have to do so slowly to keep ovulation still going while at the same time signaling to our bodies that "times are tough".

If you've been vegetarian for awhile, that would count! I would TTC and just work on limiting snacks.

I, for example, used to eat a lot of meat and did big time while I was pregnant. Even though I had my DS3 7.5 months ago, I have to be more strict than you. There are loads more nutrients in meats that sway blue much more than any healthy vegetarian meals have.

You are more set for pink than you realize I would bet!

[emoji8] back atcha!!

This isn't my first swaying rodeo. I swayed pink when trying last time and ended up with my sweet DS3. I was my worst enemy last time. This time, I'm doing what has proven to work for most of the people most of the time- LE diet, exercise, one attempt via BDing every 4 days, coffee, alcohol, and breastfeeding with close age gap to top it off. That's it. If it doesn't work this time, then I'll be at peace knowing I wasn't my undoing!

GL to you!

Our stats show that this isn't the case. no one knows why. We speculate about the reasons if you'd like me to, but it's just that we have not had good results with the "strict 2-4 weeks" approach and have had with anything longer than 12 weeks.

This doesn't mean that what you've done has been wasted, because for all we know, our odds would ahve been even worse among the 2-4 week dieters had they not done as much as they did.

Above all else I want you to do what works for YOU. There is no magic schedule to follow, you're just trying to extend that time when you're not eating a little. Some people may prefer to do it one way, others a different way, and it will really help you stick with it if you allow yourself some flexibility on this.

If we are overweight by a good bit, can we really over do it until we get into a healthy weight range? That won't mess up my cycle, right? Like eating way under limits and exercising an hour a day 5 days a week? Just until I get to my recommended weight???

Atomic has said she can't always check the support threads, so I would post a separate thread for this if you want her input, Lissastick.

Personally, I don't think you should ever be eating way under limits to lose weight. You can mess up ovulation even if you still have some to lose, and you can really mess up your metabolism and end up making it even harder to lose weight if you make your body think it's starving (big difference between starvation and sending the signal resources aren't plentiful).

You don't need to be a certain weight to get a girl. Going to extremes will only hurt you in the long run. I remember you posted that you are recovering from an eating disorder. If swaying is really messing with your head maybe you should consider just swaying with a single attempt and exercise, and not worrying about the diet at all except to stay vegetarian (which is still a decent sway). Your health is more important than a sway diet!

I'm not even sure it was a positive test now. A friend said she saw a line, but, my husband says he swears he couldn't see anything. A new test is negative and my period is starting to be full-on...I'm just going to pretend like nothing bad happened.

Yesterday I did well on the L.E. diet. I exercised on an empty stomach and didn't eat until 4pm (I wake up at like 1pm, though).

Yesterday I had chow mein noodles and 1 1/2 veggie egg rolls. And then homemade tortilla chips and cheese with hot sauce and that's it! I'm pretty sure I was under the limit, but, I think one or two days of that is ok.

I wasn't that hungry yesterday!
I think the exercising is helping me not to snack!

No, I don't want you guys going under the limits because the LE Diet is meant to be a safe pre-preganncy diet.

You can cut back as low as 1200-1500 cals but need that 40-50 g protein and 30-60 g fat because we are aiming at a safe food intake in preparation for pregnancy.

One or two days is not a dealbreaker. BUT. What I find is that 1-2 days ends up being 3-4 or more and the whole point of this is to be safe before pregnancy. So please aim to hit the limits daily and then if something goes wrong on occasion, it's not going to be harmful to you.

You can have protein and carbs in the same meal. It is only that blue swayers HAVE to do that. Pink swayers can of course have both protein and carbs in the same meal.

I guess you could use this as a 'cheat' / 'night off' opportunity :) Doubt it would hurt at all tbh!! It might be better than having to explain why you dont want meat. Unless you tell them you're trying out being a vegetarian for a month :) good luck and enjoy your evening.

How many calories is considered a snack? Is there a limit? Sometimes before my first meal I add 3 tsp skimmed milk in my coffee which is 6 kcal. Should I consider this a snack and thus just drink the coffee black?

Joining in here...

I also wouldn't worry much about the grill. I would either choose to eat mostly sides with a small piece of meat, or to make a cheat day out of it.

I have been having coffee with a bit of skim milk and cinnamon every morning. I'm not worried about it raising my blood sugar much.

Are any of you noticing any mood changes while on the diet? I was previously on medication for anxiety/PTSD. I also had depression at that time (after experiencing trauma and loss), but I haven't had mood problems for a few years. Since starting the LE diet a few weeks ago, I'm noticing some depression and quite a lot of anxiety creeping back in. I tried to go vegan about a year ago, and had to stop that after a couple of weeks for the same reason: it was having a serious impact on my mental health. I went right back to normal after resuming eating animal based foods.

So far it's manageable, albeit annoying, and I'm definitely not willing to stop the diet over it, but I guess I'm wondering what specifically could be causing the issue, and if there is anything I can do within the confines of the diet to fix the problem. I'm not exercising yet, because our first attempt probably won't be until September and I don't want to lose too much weight (I'm 5'0 and 105 pounds right now), but I do think that will help, if atomic recommends it for me (I will probably be receiving my plan soon). I'm mostly eating: white bread with grated cheese melted on it, fruit/veg (kale, apples, strawberries, broccoli, grapes), small serving of pasta with sauce and grated cheese, margarine, corn oil, puffed wheat cereal (unfortified) with rice milk, coconut water, sometimes skim milk, chocolate bars/candy, white bagels with cream cheese, low sodium corn chips with a bit of salsa, diet coke. I'm adding iodized salt occasionally (I'm going to try to buy an iodine supplement later today), and I'm talking 1000mcg (?) of folic acid twice a day. I'm cheating a bit on the weekends (for example, I had a few popcorn shrimp and lots of french fries this past Sunday).

Apart from the depression/anxiety, my personality seems to be changing a bit....I am usually the boss of the family, and these days I am kind of just going along to get along, if that makes sense. My husband is calling all the shots, he loves it. :p

It kind of makes me wonder if this could be one of the reasons I haven't had a girl yet: if I need a high nutrient diet to be at my optimum mental health, it makes sense that I would always eat like that, and then of course I would always have boys...hmmmm

Girlieplease
July 29th, 2016, 04:01 PM
Am sure others will have views on this but if your hungry, which I suppose you should be and your eating low calorie diet it is bound to have some impact on your mood. I have noticed subtle changes in the sense am more snappy and less tolerant. Am usually such a positive person but not conceiving has been a challenge, I am usually great at finding an explanation for things that help me maintain a balanced outlook but I am finding this eludes me with my inability to conceive. I also think part of the impact on my mood is the time consuming nature of this process, which ultimately may not result in a girl anyway. It is trying to fit exercise in, while looking after three young children, trying to inconvenience my dh and children as much as possible. Not eating my usual, having to plan meals or if I go outcry and think what can I eat. Trying to plan when to have sex, then the hell of the2 ww, only to not be successful. I think it would be strange if dealing with all that did not impact negatively on our mental state? Probably just my personality and others that are much more relaxed and why I will probably end up with another boy despite best efforts! X

Coffee, I recently added it to my sway. I hate the stuff but gradually coming around. I have to have milk in it, so struggling to fit it in, does it really have to be three cups per day? I would need to do morning, lunch and dinner, am struggling with one cup at the minute! X

This is the third time I've been on the LE diet and it definitely affects my mood. I'm usually very positive and laid back but am far snappier on the diet. My gut feeling is that it's the lack of fat and protein. What we do eat will get used for essential maintenance and repair leaving no extra. Also I would usually take a large array of vitamins and minerals, which I'm not taking on LE, some of which definitely affect my mood. Interestingly I am finding the exercise to be helpful for my mental state, which I've obviously heard of before but as someone who hates exercise, hadn't experienced before!

Serenity, we have had that reported by a minority of people and what we need to do is gradually tweak things so you're feeling better - I would have you up protein to 50-60 g and this will then cut carbs by virtue of getting more cals from your protein, and cut out the super carby things like rice milk in favor of more protein rich skim milk or even full fat.

Thank you to atomic, weezie, and girlieplease for your input.

OK, I'll up the protein a bit and see if that helps. I just got AF this morning, on CD 28 for the first time in my life (my cycles are usually several days longer), so the intensified mood changes were probably PMS related...I didn't think of that because I didn't expect AF so soon!

On coffee: I'm only having it in the morning so far, but I might add in another one around lunch time at some point. Girlieplease, that might just have to be my new mantra: inconveniencing my DH and children as much as possible! :shemademe:

How do you guys do this? I'm still waiting for my
Custom plan and haven't officially started but I'm starving. I am so used to eating a ton of protein that I'm having trouble transitioning over. I get so hungry during the day and end up eating stuff I'm not supposed to. And I was on a severely limited diet the past two years having been gestationally diabetic and then having a nursling with crazy food allergies. But I always managed due to high amounts of protein. Any suggestions for a good filling alternative--I've also bumped up my exercise significantly so I'm even more hungry

Babs, your plan is done and has been sent into tech support to be reformatted in downloadable version and posted for you (I don't do that part).

You're going to have to tweak the diet. It's not gonna work for you as it is written and you may need to go up to 60-70 g protein, 50-60 g fat. Your situation is difficult but not impossible, we've done it before but we will have to work together over the next couple weeks to come up with some things you can stick to. Rice and potatoes will be your friends, and the good news is they are much better tolerated for potential insulin resistance than you might think.

If you post in your forum (the same spot where your questionnaire is) and give me a rundown of what you're eating we can get started figuring it all out.

Sorry to hear that you're experiencing anxiety too, amelia, but glad to know I'm not alone. Hope you feel better soon.

Babs, I think you just kind of get used to it. Easing into it helped me a lot. I'm sure it will get easier for you in no time. Sounds like atomic has it all sorted out for you.

We went out for breakfast at Smitty's as a family late this morning, and I had no idea what to eat, so I had pancakes with margarine and syrup, and one egg. Ohhhhh, that egg was heavenly. It disappeared in five seconds flat and I had to hold myself back from picking up the plate and licking more of the yoke off of it. I kind of wish I would have, actually...

It's amazing how undernourished I feel already (after about 3 weeks to a month of doing this diet). I was in the vitamin aisle at the drugstore recently, and kept having visions of opening up the bottles and pouring some of the vitamins down my throat. I usually feel like a strong mama lion who has eaten her fill of all the best meat. Now I feel like a starving mama lion who can't catch a break. I watch my DH eat roast beef sandwiches and feel totally jealous.

In other news, I've started adding alcohol to my sway. My DH usually drinks a couple of beers every night after the kids go to bed; now we're switching off nights. I giggle when I think about the craziness GD is bringing to my life...soon my DH will come home from work to find me drinking on the exercise machine, drops of lavender oil unfurling their heavenly scent around me as I sweat profusely, nearly passing out from low blood sugar and a lack of nutrients... :giggle:

Hahaha! You make me laugh! It gets easier ladies! This is my second time swaying and it really does become second nature over time. I find going vegetarian to be much easier when you eat meat substitutes. Not sure if you are in the US or not, but I really like MorningStar veggie burgers and crumbles (like ground beef). I put the crumbles on salad or on tortillas.

Make sure to eat vegetables and fruit (whatever you want). This will help with nutrients. Think of it this way, you'd have to eat a mountain of broccoli or berries to equal the amount of nutrients in a roast beef sandwich!

I also allow myself to have a sweet treat with dinner. Lately I've been liking a low calorie ice cream sandwich that is super yummy! It fits in my totals and makes me feel like I'm being naughty!

If I feel hungry in the middle of the day, I have another cup of coffee with a splash of creamer on ice. While the creamer may spike blood sugar temporarily, the body will burn through this rather quickly unlike a traditional snack. Plus, coffee (even decaf) is a great appetite suppressant!!

You ladies are doing great! Keep up the good work!!

Thinking of adding sweet potatoes, v8, white beans and maybe pasta sauce or salsa to my sway. I read these are good sources of potassium.

How low? Less than 40g isn't ideal. You could do cheese sticks, eat a bit of bread, if you don't need fat but just protein, you could try a protein smoothie with 0% fat Greek yogurt. Most range from 10-22g depending on the brand. You could try Quorn or other vegetarian meat substitutes. Make sure they don't have soy protein though.

I drink peppermint tea every day (until around ovulation, then stop until AF starts again).

I'm getting most of my protein from skim milk and cheese.

I'm still pretty uncomfortable with the diet, but feel like I'm getting the hang of it a bit more...pulling out my lunchtime coconut water is starting to become a habit, I guess.

I had rice mixed with broccoli and cheese, strawberries, coconut water and a can of pop for lunch. Dinner will be low sodium corn chips, a bit of salsa, skim milk, and an apple.

Weighed this morning and have gained 3 lbs although I know it is mostly water from all the salt.

Breakfast - Rawnola (oats, 4 dates, and 10 almonds) and half a banana - with milk
Lunch - 2 crumpets with margarine & 4 rice cakes
Dinner - TAKE AWAY - boiled white rice, 2 Tbsp Spinach & Potatoe curry, and Chickpea curry ....and I ate 1 popadom

Feel really bad that I went totally off the diet.
Been working so hard and had lost 9lbs in August...now gained those 3 back.
Going to be really good the rest of the week/end and hope it all comes off again

I was just typing something similar. I fell off the diet wagon last night too because I had too much wine and therefore snacked on top of my dinner.

Breakfast - black coffee
Lunch - potato salad, bread, crisps and salad with a diet soda
Snack - G&T and pistachio nuts
Dinner - vegetable fajitas, i.e. two wraps with vegetables, a little grated cheese and a little guacamole in. Plus some potato wedges. So at this point all fine and within limits allowing for a large glass of wine. Unfortunately I actually had nearly a bottle of wine so had another fajita and a few crisps as I was too drunk to care! Grrrrrr

So totals were about 2275 cals 66g fat 47g protein

Oh I also had my first cheat day yesterday!
I had McDonald's fries. Which I'm sure is the equivalent to my daily fat intake lol
Today is my 10 year anniversary so we are going out for dinner. I'm going to stick to vegetarian but probably will be another day of over my limits.

How often are you guys incorporating wine/alcohol into your diets? I've only been doing it once a week but am thinking I might need to UP it. I actually find that part somewhat difficult since it makes me so tired next day! 😐

Exciting!! We DTD last Monday and we're going to do E4D but DH got sent away for work. So either we just snuck an attempt in during the fertile window or this month was missed. Our next attempt will therefore be another three weeks away.

We DTD day before yesterday, so now in the 2WW

We had a mc a few months ago, the last two cycles we did 1 attempt at positive OPK but go BFN
So this time we did it everyday (which is meant to sway blue, but we are desperate to conceive cos of my age) of high fertility tests.
So relying on LE, and also lifestyle change (given up male dominated job - Me)

Good luck :D

I am the same! I will be CD12 on Friday and that's usually when I get a positive OPK. So my attempt should be this weekend roughly.
We are moving next week to a rental for 20 days until our new house is ready and the kids start school Tues. Talk about a stressful week coming up for us! I was going to wait until next cycle but I know it can take a while to conceive. 😊

Best of luck to everyone! If we are all successful we should have close due dates!! Eekk

I know it's because AF is coming, and I am feeling a bit sad that the 4th attempt since my MC has failed.
So now I am back on the LE bandwagon.
Just did a 1 hour hike (sweating as I type lol)

And now had a burger bun, toasted, with half a can of low sodium baked beans

It's really hard when you're low to stick to the diet. I am craving a big breakfast this morning but we've got friends over for dinner so I need to save the calories for tonight. I'm cooking Caribbean style so we're having lots of cocktails, coconut shrimp to start, then jerk chicken, rice and peas, slaw and sweet potato and black bean curry (I'll just have the curry and slaw), then pina colada pud (which I'll probably try but not have a portion).

I ate meat yesterday for first time in 9 weeks and boy do I feel like crap. It was our wedding anniversary so I thought a cheat was in order and we went to our favorite Italian restaurant. Have any of you noticed that you hit a point on the diet that you actually don't want red meat anymore or your eating habits change like a light switch?

I have been on the LE diet loosely for the past 3-4 months (I think) and all of a sudden, I am not really in the mood for a steak. This is so unheard of for me. And I am eating about half the meat that I used to eat. And now I am not even all that hungry for snacks most days. Just so strange. I have not had ppaf yet either, so it might just be a hormonal shift or something. Just thought I would ask. :)

Yes! I still sometimes want chicken if I see a delicious looking dish. I do not crave red meat at all and another thing that changed for me is I now do not crave chocolate or sweets! I used to HAVE to have it at night. Now I don't get that craving. I think all the carbs is something my body was missing bc I've been doing low carb diets for so long now!

Ok ladies. It's been a while since I've posted on here. I've been swaying and TTCing for 7mo and 6mo respectively. I am wanting to lose 13lbs (will be happy with 10lbs!) in 3mo or less. I'm doing the LE diet and the cardio 60+ min 5-6 days a week. I am reducing my calories from 1700-1900 to 1500-1700. I have to be careful and not reduce too much too quickly since I'm still breastfeeding 4-7 times a day still.

I am hoping you ladies can help keep me in check and help me get back on track! I feel like I'm eating too many empty calories that is preventing me from getting to my target weight. I need to eat more fruits and veggies again, but I need some empty calories to keep me satisfied. Ah- the slippery slope!!

If I end up getting my BFP this month, the only thing I have going for me is exercise, Clomid, and previous 6mo of being great on the diet!

Thank you ladies!! I'll post my meals starting tomorrow. MFP will also be my BFF until I get back in the swing of things again!

XXforhubby I just want to say thanks for your le diet thread. I know it helps you keep in check but when I was just starting out on the le diet it really helped me to read what others were doing to get an idea of what to do. Hope you can achieve your goal of losing 10-13 lbs, I am sure you will get there. I am still breastfeeding my little man 4 times a day and found that my milk supply dropped right off when I was at 1500 cals but is much better at 1800 so just cut back slowly just in case you have the same issues. Not eating before 11 am and only three meals is still great so don't be too hard on yourself. Tomorrow is a new day, you will get there. Thanks again for all the meal ideas

I'm pretty new to the LE diet. I've been on it for a week now and I'm still having trouble getting enough calories. I average about 1100 a day. I've managed to get to 1200 for the last 2 days be eating apples at night. Is that bad?

Also, I've been having a cappuccino k-cup every morning. Should I cut that? I can't drink black coffee AT ALL.

Hi clairebear, I am by no means an expert as I have only been on the le diet 8 weeks but to help bump up cals atomic has an essay/page on diet quick fixes that may help you. I don't know how to add the link, maybe try putting 'diet quick fix' into search box or one of the other clever ladies on here might be able to post link  do you drink alcohol as that is a good way to add some empty calories. Or a soft drink or two can also help. Lollies or marshmallows as dessert straight after dinner can also add a few extra calories without protein or fat. Good luck with your sway, there are many very knowledgable ladies in here (far more experienced than me) that may be able to help you more, just don't be afraid to ask.

I skipped breakfast, didn't eat meat but I had

Breakfast- Coffee
Lunch -was from Panera bread restaurant. Half garden salad with balsamic dressing and a vegetarian sandwich with feta cheese and coke zero.. oh and I had a small bag of plain chips that came with it!

Dinner-- garden salad w fat free it Italian dressing with some bocaccini on it. Bagel with lite cc and cucumbers and hot sauce drizzled ontop
Diet sprite
Glass of red wine
Followed by....desert which was a piece of apple crumble from a local apple orchard

Then I ate again!!!!... another peice of that pie and about 20 whole wheat tostitos chips.

I didn't calculate yesterday but.. 99% sure it was way over on fat and prob cals.

I used one of hubby's regular kcups this morning with a bit of milk and a scoop of light Cool-Whip. It was still bitter tasting but had less sugar than my cappuccinos which have about 7 grams. Hopefully that will be okay for the diet!

We wanted to start after 12 weeks on the diet but had to DTD too many days before ovulation due to DH being away so missed the window :-(

I should ovulate in approximately three days assuming my cycle is back to normal. So we'll probably DTD on the day. I'm not using OPKs but am temping so hopefully that'll be the right day!

I guess I wonder how though bc I've definitely been under the calorie counts doing other diets in the past and never had that happen. Do you think it's the low fat and only 2 to 3 meals that do it?

I think it's the combination of lower protein and fat that does it. Sometimes eating "good" fats within the limits helps. I've been eating 2-4 eggs a week and full fat cream in my coffee daily, and my bbt chart looks much better this cycle. Although, I am also on Clomid too.

I'm keeping in the limits even with the eggs and cream.

Can I join? I have been doing the Le since November but had a lot of hiccups along the way - lost waaaay too much weight and Lp was 3-4-5 days for a few months. Had to eat quite a lot more and stop tracking and have been bouncing on and off the diet all summer. My Lp is now nice and long (13 days!) and our house is being knocked down so I can't exercise as much (exercise room has gone for now!! No!!!) Been going to the gym when possible but I work 4 days a week and 3 evenings so not always doable.
I love your ideas for meals though and want to make sure my diet is good in the next three weeks before ov! My usual mistakes are that I am good during the week and then at the weekend I snack with my wine!

Of course you can. Sounds very like what happened to me three or four years ago. This time I went more slowly so have lost 18lb in nearly four months rather than one!

My wraps today each have 15g grated cheddar, some chopped tomatoes, onions and yellow pepper. Very yummy and only 188 cals 6g fat and 7g protein each.33114

Hello everyone! I have been on weight watchers diet since June. I have been trying to switch to the LE diet but... I AM NOT A VEGETARIAN! HELP! I don't eat a lot of red meat at all! But I eat chicken almost every day. I have cut down on the amount and frequency since being on weight watchers. I also hate yogurt which I believe is a big LE diet food? I also never ever drink coffee or alcohol but I have been trying to add a glass of wine. So far I have had two glasses of wine in the last two weeks. I have been losing weight so that's something! :)

You mention yogurt being a big LE diet food. It isn't. There are NO special foods on the LE diet. That's the whole point. It's just Low Everything. 1500-1800cals, 40-50g protein (ideally from vegetarian sources but not essential) and 50-60g fat a day. If you can't live without your chicken you just have to factor it into your daily totals. Adjust other meals to fit it in. I love meat, poultry and fish but I have found it impossible to stay within the protein targets while eating sufficient calories without going vegetarian.

The coffee and alcohol are thought to help but again are not essential. The 60 minutes of cardio 5-7 days a week has had great results so if you can do that, do.

Remember, there is nothing magical about skipping breakfast! It's all about delaying your first meal to end up with 12-16 hours from the end of your last meal to your first. 2 and 3 meals are allowed.

It's the no snacking part that matters!

How bad is it to cheat with red meat? I have had very small amounts of chicken every so often, but just once with red meat in the 11 weeks I have been on LE. That red meat cheat was 2 weeks ago and ever since I have been craving ground beef. I just want a taco or lasagna or hamburger or Sheppards pie...something with red meat ground beef. Does anyone who is doing vegetarian do red meat every couple of weeks?

XXforhubby

I've only had red meat once since February. I couldn't avoid it at the time and had a very small amount. I do have chicken occasionally- like once every two weeks or so.

I think it's fine. I would be hesitant to have it frequently because it's loaded with nutrients that sway bit big time! Once occasionally should be fine!

I am trying to stick to vegetarian as much as I can but have chicken maybe once a week and have had red meat once or twice in the 9 weeks I have been on the LE diet as it was unavoidable as was at a friends for dinner. I just tried to have only a small amount. I am hoping that a small meat cheat every now and then is not too bad as hopefully it is enough of a change that I am no longer eating meat 1-2 times every day. I try to make sure I keep within my daily limits for fat/protein/cals as best I can even when I do eat chicken or meat. I just make sure the rest of the day is low in fat and protein. I think for me it is better to not stress over every single thing I eat or else that will be counterproductive for my sway if I get too stressed about it. Do what feels right for you. I am ok with knowing that I ate chicken or meat occasionally and if I get a boy instead of a girl I don't think this will have been the only deciding factor and I am ok with that.

GirlieCat
September 21st, 2016, 08:30 PM
XXHubby you are amazing for doing this since February and on top of that only one meat cheat! Amazing.

Kelbear, I am like you I ate meat a lot before so this is a big change and I hope that makes my sway better. I am a picky eater so my options are limited so I don't really stress about food because I stick to the same things over and over but it gets boring and I miss meat.

I think I will have it every couple of weeks and keep the portion small. Thanks ladies.

It would be if I could eat all I wanted!!! I did really well though and actually the restaurant catered brilliantly for vegetarians imho. For starter I had Cantonese lettuce wraps which were basically large pieces of iceberg lettuce, a plate of cooked chopped veg and hoisin sauce. So while the others were scoffing duck and pancakes I had those. Plus they did mushroom satay not just chicken. For main I had noodles fried with mushrooms and beansprouts, Chinese vegetables in garlic, vegetable curry and two fantastic jumbo prawns in Kung Po sauce. Delish! My totals are therefore estimated but I think on target

My first post here!

I'm generally sticking with three meals a day - delaying until around 1030am to eat - coffee at 9am.

I'm vego already so have lots of good veg ideas which you guys might like.

- tomato or pesto pasta
- veg & paneer (or chickpea) curry with rice
- grilled tofu with veggies, I also love marinated tofu skewers with vegetables
- tofu burritos
- haloumi & pumpkin salad
- cauliflower soup / minestrone
- bruschetta
- baked sweet potato stuffed with veggies
- veggie pizza with a little feta

I'm finding it very hard to give up my chocolate addiction & am basically hungry all the time, despite eating 1800 cals & getting high end protein & fat! Do you just get used to that?? I never realised how much I ate before, basically constantly!

I was doing so well and losing weight and cardio everyday and this past week I gained over 2 pounds :( I had a day or two that I did not do the greatest but I was sure I continued losing... but now I'm super determined to keep tracking and staying within the limits this week!!

Having only eaten Veggie and not a huge portion last night I still put on 1.4lb. But eating out in a restaurant you're just guessing calories aren't you so I'm not surprised

Today
Breakfast - black coffee
Lunch - artisan baguette with egg mayonnaise and tomatoes
Snack - red wine and pistachio nuts
Dinner - two weight watchers wraps as vegetable fajitas with a little homemade guacamole, some Kettle Chips and red wine

I would hazard a guess that a fair amount of that weight increase is due to water retention from eating food containing a large amount of salt and msg xx

I get that too after a meal out, it's the salt for sure, as it comes off after 5 days.

Yesterday
Breakfast : Crumpets & Margarine - I just couldn't skip it as I was starving at 9am
Lunch : Butter Beans in Passata with Quinoa...think that was too nutritionally dense, but ran out of white rice.
Dinner : Home Made Veggie Chow Mein (Ramen noodles, stir fry, and low sodium sauce)
2 Diets Ginger Beers & A bag of corn crisps from the baby section
