What is ARM
Artificial rupture of membranes. They will numb u and use an instrument to break forewaters (u dont lose all amniotic fluid) so head abuts cervix directly leading to dilation.
Has great success rates.

After another day of prodromal labor, I woke up to pee and could barely walk from intense pinching pressure in my lower abdomen. Now laying here with mid cramping and pressure. Any thoughts? Is this still just my body getting ready? *sigh*

Bluebooties - 4 weeks doesn't sound like long at all! My little guy is one month old today and I won't go back until August 23rd, but so crazy to leave this early!
He sleeps fine at night - usually waking around 12/1am and then again around 5/6am, so not terrible at all. It's putting him down for naps. It's like I know he's tired, but he just will get fussy and fight it. I'm trying not to nurse him too much to sleep, but even then it will take like half an hour before he goes to sleep. Blah! We've gone back to swaddling him tight at night and that seems to help, as well as white noise too. Hoping he grows out of it!
Throwaway: it really sounds like you're preparing and getting close. I know it's miserable - hang in there!! When is your next appointment to check?
Boyz: my water broke, but still had a forewater intact. I went from a 3-5 in like 7 hrs, but right after doc popped the forewater I went from a 5-10 in an hour! That could work for you too!
Netti: sounds like you're getting close too! I can't wait to see all these babies!

Wow I can't believe you gals are getting there.
Boyz I feel you with the sex part. I had to ask my dh what was going on since he was absolutely not interested anymore. I think he had a little remorse and has been slightly more active. Maybe if you seduce him a little 😜
You are brave Blue! I cried going back to work after my maternity leave plus the first six weeks of bonding.
Hang in there Throwaway! You are almost there 😃 I am super excited for you and everyone else fast approaching labor.!
Good luck to you all and I hope to see lots of baby photos!
As for me, my little one and dh are sick with colds and hopefully they get bettrt by kext week😣, finally started nesting, but also started having lots of waist pain on my left side. I hope to hang till my scheduled csection date of 6/8. Baby should be here in the afternoon. We will see what the next few days had in store for all of us! Good luck and best wishes 😍😘

My next check is tomorrow, but again -- even the midwives were saying "If we see you, haha" because of how low this baby is! I was 70% effaced, 2cm dilated and -1 LAST Monday, my cervix is super anterior and far forward (my midwife even commented on how she barely had to stick a finger in there to feel the baby's head!) have lost so much mucous plug, rusty discharge, constant contractions and other things... based on all of these things only increasing since my last check, I've got to imagine this baby is RIGHT THERE?
My dog also pooped in the house 3 times in 24 hours, which he NEVER does, so I'm wondering if something is finally up? I had a migraine the other day, and I only ever used to get those right before my period started...

Fiya good luck with ur US. Keep us updated.
Yogi dh is working 14 hrs now a days with his studies on weekends so i dont blame the poor guy. That must have killed his sex drive.
Hope ur LO and dh feel better soon. Best of luck with ur section[emoji106]
@Taytum good for u that u can spend some time with LO before starting work again.
Swaddling always worked for us.
With my ds1 my water broke after sex. But this time after 3 cm nothing progressing. I m not sure if they will pop my forewaters. My ob didnt say anything about that.
@Netti I guess u r very close hun. I m having same symptoms burning cramps but nothing real. But bits of mucus plug is comin out.
@throw away i guess ur body getting ready. Fx
@bb i ll ask my ob about ARM she didnt mention anything as of now. But she did poke her finger inside my cervix and said its soft and ready and is approx 3 cm.

I can't believe how close everyone is! Its so exciting!!
Throwaway I can't believe you haven't had that baby yet! You're so so close!
Boyz I really hope the acupuncture gets things moving along for you!
I will get my first cervical check next week. I don't really take it seriously though because I always dilate early and need induced a week late. Last 2 pregnancies I was 3-4 cm for 3 weeks and completely effaced. Although they were high and I feel like this little man is low.
I'm starting to get really anxious to have everything clean and perfect and its really hard to do with 2 little boys running around. Not sure if I'm full on nesting yet but it's coming.
It's been the opposite with me for sex. DH wants it all the time and I'm just exhausted and don't feel like it.
Good luck to you girls that are close! I can't wait for updates!!

Kind of frustrated >_<
I'm a "solid" 2cm dilated now (as opposed to the "almost 2" before) and roughly 80% effaced. Baby is still -1, but the midwife I saw confirmed she's engaged because she's not ballotable. I was so nervous about positioning that they did a quick ultrasound and found she's definitely anterior, which is good. The midwife asked if I wanted some "massage" at the cervix to help with the prostaglandins? So I said yes (since it's not membrane stripping, which I have concerns about).
Everyone kept telling me I'm doing everything right and I just have to relax since it's "out of my control" -- but like I say elsewhere on here, this girl has to have been from my LE lifestyle. I am 100000% "Martha." So NONE of this helps.
This midwife also went "just keep eating well, exercising and staying on your hands and knees" -- I can't remember the last time I just let myself relax on a couch or something!!
I've been crampy and had a contraction since I left there, but again -- I've had HOURS of contractions already and nothing happen, so I'm not particularly hopeful.
My BP has gone up slightly -- safe range, but high for me (when it's been super low all of pregnancy), so I'm wondering if that's yet another sign too that something's up, since I know I've read BP goes up before labor.
I just want to be done :/ I don't think I'd be feeling like this as much if a.) this was my desired gender, b.) I had enjoyed any part of pregnancy (I did like the nesting energy though) or c.) I wasn't having constant, painful signs! I almost wonder if I had preferred no one ever got my hopes up with how low this baby is, etc. etc.
Sorry guys >_< Maybe I'm just hormonal.

So just hold on a little longer and think forward to holding that adorable newborn in your arms.
@ TP this was my DD3 a failed sway and the moment they put her on my chest after birth i was all in love. I find it so hard to believe that just 2 months ago I was regreting having found this site and getting encouragment to try for a third. I honestly even wished the pregnancy would end

Hi ladies,
My appointment went well today. She now wheighs 2,2 kilos (4,8 pounds) and her estimated birth weight is 3,2 kilos (7 pounds), which sounds perfect :) I got my 6th confirmation of the gender, which is always reassuring.
The midwive also checked my cervix and it's a little bit effaced, but no dilation whatsoever, so I think she'll stay in my belly at least 4-5 more weeks, but I don't mind. I'm not ready yet to say goodbye to being pregnant forever.
How are the ladies who are impatiently waiting for their babies to be born?

And thanks for asking Taytum. I was in another round of prelabor for almost 48 hours, but didn't go in since it didn't pick up. My midwife did a sweep yesterday, and even had thought I had a slow leak of amniotic fluid (but I didn't :/), so I'm just wrestling with the fact that I'll probably end up being induced despite all of this stuff lining up beforehand...
Between this and how unsupportive my SO has been, I don't know how I can ever do this again. I feel like I'll never get my boy and can't imagine wanting this girl. Every day I wish this wasn't real.

Oh Hun :( please, trust me when I say that your heart will start to heal as soon as you see her and hold her and smell her.... I still remember that first rush of love like it was yesterday.... You will see that she is your child created by your love. I'm not saying the GD will disappear overnight but wether you feel the love hit you like a truck or if it is more of a slow burn, you WILL feel the love, I promise :) GD in pegnancy is the worst (I know, I have been there BADLEY twice) but it does start to subside. Nature is very clever and all of these beautiful babies have a way of endearing themselves to us, and before you know it, the first thing on your mind in the morning and before you go to bed at night will be her (in a good way!) you are on the home stretch. Stay strong Hun and trust your mama instinct. You will get through this. Sending many hugs xxxx

Thank you <3
I'm just coming to terms with how psychologically difficult pregnancy has been. I was feeling so pleasantly inclined towards this little one because I was having a relatively smooth third trimester, I was "surprising" all of my midwife's office with how things seem to be progressing so well for a FTM, etc.
Now with the impending feeling of "failure" to need induction (especially since they don't want me going too far past my EDD because of a few different hormonal issue worries), I'm right back to just deep resentment.
And I hate to say it, but my SO has been so awful. He's so excited for the baby, but focuses so much on the baby that I feel completely forgotten as I'm sitting in pain because the baby's so low that my hips don't work right, etc. etc. I'm obsessing and doing so much work for optimal baby positioning, getting the house ready, etc., and I get yelled at if I get even a little emotional :(

Congrats Boyz on your princess! She's perfect - can't wait to hear all about it! [emoji177]
Throwaway - I'm so sorry SO is forgetting you. I feel like my DH was so excited about the baby and he couldn't relate to how I was feeling. But he was always supportive - I hope your SO comes around.
I hope you don't feel like a failure. My BFF was induced with her daughter in February and it sounds like it's common with FTM. After having an early baby, I wish I would have gone full term. We worried so much about him being early and the nurses were really scaring us and against anyone coming to visit us since he was early. So instead of celebrating with family and friends we sat in the dark hospital room just the three of us. It was so hard. Your little girl is going to be perfect!
Also, the first two weeks after having him home I WISHED I was still pregnant again. It was easier than a newborn. Adjusting to our new life was rough the first few weeks. [emoji17]
I agree - those first moments are so magical and you'll know you're her mommy. I think right now it's a combination of your feelings about still being pregnant, your SO and GD. Hang in there, lots of love to you! ❤️
Successful blue sway in May of 2016! Thanks so much Gender Dreaming! [emoji170]

Needing to be induced is never a failure Hun. I had to have the pitocin drip with ds1 as my waters broke then 24hrs later.... Absolutely nothing happened! But he was born ok, and the next time with my 2nd little guy, well my body knew what to do and he popped out like a fresh pea ;) as long as baby AND you are ok, no birth , be it 100% drug free, induced, c-section etc is a failure :) and I think you need to have a little chat with your SO; remind him of the ancient proverb 'happy wife happy life' good luck xxx

Tp- i needed to be induced with ds3. Was abit daunting but got through it. I think you need to put your feet up abit (something i should do too). Are you having anyone else with you when you deliver besides your other half? I found having someone else (my sister) as well as my dh helped me cope better for the birth.
All the best yogi.
On the home stretch Mommymachine.
Im 35+5 and i am so ready to deliver a baby. Im over work, im tired im sore. I had a bout of regular braxton hicks last night for an hour about 7 min apart that got me excited and as soon as ds3 jumped on my belly to snuggle they went away 😂 cervix feels pressure and sore but passed no plug yet.
The arm that i had the whooping cough injection in is still so sore. Im going to the drs tmro i think there may be some nerve damage as the pain goes down my arm. Just what i need when trying to manage a household and get ready for baby no5.
I have an ultrasound on Friday so at least ill get some prediction on this ones weight though i don't think it will be a reflection of what to expect at birth 😀

I m doing great ladies and so is Lia. She lost 5% of her birth weight in 24 hrs which is normal.
Birth story: I went to hospital at 4 am on 6 th june to get her monitored and i ws having pains 15 mins apart. They hot me hooked and checked my cervix. It was 3 cm. i walked around in hospital for 3 hrs. Had breakfast walked and jumped on ball for an hr. They checked me again and it ws still 3 cm no change. But pains were there bearable ones. At 2 pm they sent me home. I went to my ob from hospital and asked for cervix check. It ws 4 cm. she did a sweep. And sent me home saying i ll be delivering soon as my cervix is thin. Went home had acupuncture took a bath at 3 pm.
I just lied down in bed after a long bath. Pains got stronger. After 5 mins my water broke. I went to hospital at 4:30pm. They checked my cervix. It was still 4 cm. i was a bit disappointed. But pains got stronger. Put me to birthing room. At 7 pm i asked for epidural as pains were after every 3 mins n very strong. Anesthologist came at 8:15 and i got a relief. Nurse checked me at 10:30 and i was fully dilated. She told me not to push as ob was in another delivery. But i couldn't help it. Too much pressure. I pushed twice n ob came in. I pushed 3 or 4 more times and Lia was here at 11 pm. It was a long day starting at 4 am but pushing stage ws too quick. All worth it.
She ws 7.5lbs 20 inches long. Inhaled some liquid n went to nursery for 30 mins. Shes all healthy and breast feeding but i m not getting enough milk. Shes keeping me awake all night. Shes a cry baby. I m getting too much after pains. [emoji17]

Congrats Yogi! Wishing you a quick recovery!! :)
And thank you all for your supportive comments. I'm sorry I was such a Debbie Downer the other day -- I really had fallen into a rough place between my husband and just the overall stress of these "end of days" times.
I had a followup appointment (since I'm *technically* high risk not having a thyroid, having some early concerns with gestational diabetes -- which has actually been shown not to be a thing whatsoever by NSTs, amniotic fluid, random blood sugar tests, and baby's size and movement) since they aren't super comfortable with me going past my due date. We set a foley bulb placement for the 13th (or a possible induction if I'm too dilated for the bulb) and will hope to go into spontaneous labor before then.
Doc was "impressed" by my cervix, lolol. She said I'm a full 3, 80% effaced and baby is a definite 0 station. She full on said, "You're what we dream of for inductions because your cervix is so ripe and ready, especially for a FTM. We could do it tomorrow!!" annnd, as tempted as I am to almost go, "You know what? I'm done. Fine," I'd still like those few extra days to see if this kid will come on her own!
I feel a little less stressed just sort of having a firm "end" to this, and I hate to admit it, but impressing even the doctor (since the midwives were all already aghast at me still being pregnant since baby's been so low) with my "readiness" has helped me feel better too -- so hopefully they're all right and baby comes on her own soon, or at least induction doesn't turn into the nightmare I consider it.
Did anyone else notice this, though? I woke up today (exactly 40w today) and my bump was NOTICEABLY smaller. I know I had been measuring a few inches behind fundally for awhile, and my best friend commented on me looking smaller yesterday... but I actually made a sound out loud when I walked by the mirror today, and when my husband came in, he also commented. I'm wondering if baby's even LOWER...? Is it possible for baby to be in the + stations and not be in labor, haha? I also wonder if, despite my amniotic fluid being totally fine yesterday, if I'm losing some and she really is about to come? I've certainly been peeing enough for me to think that!

So glad you're in a better place TP! I know those rough days, we all have them. And the end of pregnancy is the worst for sure. It brings out all sorts of feels.
I don't know much about going into + stations, but looking smaller is a great sign! And that fact that you're 3cm and 80% would be a great sign too!! I would guess that she'll come on her own - I was a 3 and 100% the day I went into labor. Yours sound promising!
Plus, like you said, it sounds like if she doesn't come on her own you'll need minimal induction to just give her that extra push to come out.
I can't wait for her to get here![emoji177]

Boyz - seriously, babies just born have stomachs the size of a cherry! She doesn't need very much now, like only 10mL. And she's getting that from you! Your milk might not be in yet and that's fine, she's getting the good stuff! If you don't want to supplement then definitely don't! The more she feeds from you, the more stimulated you'll be and your milk will come in. Plus she might just want to be with mommy at night. [emoji4] It is tough though and I'll be honest we supplemented a bit in the hospital (mostly for my own sanity...breastfeeding is not my calling in life!), but since we left the hospital we've been exclusively breastfeeding. It's going as good as it can - like I said this isn't my calling in life so I'm pretty indifferent to it. I love providing for him, but I'm not comfortable nursing in public so either we don't go out or I have to find time to pump before I leave, and he went through a growth spurt where I SWEAR if he wasn't on my boob he was screaming. It was so hard, lots of tears from both of us. BUT, we've made it through and it's still a great experience! I hope you and baby girl get to have the experience you want to!! Some women love it and I definitely admire them!! [emoji4][emoji177] (Sorry for the novel!)

Boyz - congrats
Please don't supplement. Baby's belly is the size of a small marble. That's why she feeds so often. If you supplement it has the potential to REDUCE your supply. Which is the last thing you want. By tomorrow or Saturday your proper milk will come in and there'll be more than she can drink. If you really really want to succeed with exclusive BFing then don't give ANYTHING else till 6 weeks xxxxxx

June 9th, 2016, 02:55 PM
I definitely love it when we're at home and I read and talk to him while he's eating but public gives me anxiety and the days he's cluster feeding and my nipples are sore and I can't leave the house are hard. But, you're right, spending that time with him is invaluable! I wouldn't trade it for anything! [emoji170]
I'm glad you'll get to experience it all with your princess!!

Give it time boyz ur milk will come. Remember for first 3 days the milk is actually not milk but fat and goodness rich clostrum baby needs that for immunity as well.
U can use a manual pump inbetween feeds to try to encourage more flow.
Plus try some lactation cookies or teas they might help

I am not a public BF fan either and for such ocassions its always good to keep a store of expressed breast milk and it also encourages milk production.
Everytime baby nurses i tend to leak from the opposite breast so to help that i manually pump the other side and store for later use or at night so my boobs can get a break

Good to know I'm not alone with NIP! My kid is a tank so I swear he thinks whenever he wakes up, whether it was a 2 min nap or 2hr he wants to nurse. I'm scared to even meet friends for lunch without a bottle of BM ready to go!
Good idea bluebooties, but I always let him nurse from both sides of he wants to. So I'm scared to pump from the other side for fear of draining it while he's still hungry. That makes pumping tricky I feel like. I try to do it after he eats, while he's hanging out. I hate pumping so I'm glad I only need it every once in a while and I have some time to build a freezer stash for work!

Had baby Lily at 40w1d (the day after my post about the acupuncture!) 😊 31", but 6 lb 10z -- guess all those early labor signs didn't mean early labor because she needed to pack on some weight!
Still recovering at hospital, but in love. You were all so, so right ♡ She was a champ, too -- 9/9 on both Apgars, has a good strong latch on one breast, was eyes open and climbing up my chest from birth! I also surpassed my expectations and labored 22 hours for a natural, vaginal birth with minimal tearing... despite the really unfortunate timing of baby dropping low enough to push when I was only 5cm!
I have quite the appreciation for all you mamas who have done this multiple times!

Hi Ladies, huge congratulations to those of you who've given birth in the last week! Our daughter Felicity arrived after a very quick umedicated water birth at the midwife-led unit on 7th June at 10.07pm - same day as your DD Boyz! She weighed 6lb 15oz & I got away with minor grazes, no stitches needed. She's perfect and after 9 years & a sway opposite, it's a relief to be finally free of GD. She was my second VBA2C and has healed me from my previous births as well as GD. I feel so very lucky but can't help but wish for one more LO in the future! Good luck to those who are still pregnant - I do miss it!
Three beautiful boys and my longed-for DD due in June 2016!

Boyz a baby's tummy is still so tiny at this stage, frequent feeding is completely normal. The best way to confirm that baby is getting plenty of milk is by how many wet & dirty nappies she has through the day. Just be led by her. Cluster feeding is normal too and a very effective way of upping your milk supply for baby's needs.

We're still chugging along. [emoji4]
Has your milk come in? She may just be cluster feeding because she's trying to stimulate the milk. I agree that her tummy is still so small. When is your first appointment? When they weigh her there you'll get a good idea of her growth. Just keep feeding her, you're doing great!! Either way she's going to stimulate your breasts to make more and up your supply to her needs! [emoji4]
How's her latch and everything? We ended up using a nipple shield once we got home because mine aren't long enough to his liking. So we're trying to wean off those and nap in our crib this week. 6 weeks today!

I hope your appointment goes well Boyz - let us know! My pediatrician said as long as he's gaining weight and enough dirty and wet diapers he was getting enough. I hope your girl is the same and no worries on the formula - we had to do that until him and I got the hang of breastfeeding. And even now he might still get a small top off if someone else is watching him and he still seems hungry after a bottle of breast milk.
I know I'm a FTM and you've been through it with your boys, but those first few days and weeks are so hard. Not only are you figuring out someone else's personality you're trying to heal yourself. My hats off to all you ladies who have several kids! I can only imagine how hard it would be without help. I hope you have other family and friends around Boyz. Hang in there. [emoji171]

I'm doing okay so far. Lots of contractions and pain, but so far he's staying put. I'll be 32 weeks Thursday and I delivered my last baby at just shy of 34 weeks, so the next few weeks are going to be a little worrisome around here. They have me on another round of antibiotics as a preventative though, and seem confident I'll make it to 35 weeks at least.

She certainly is a pretty face to look at, Boyz! I hope that hubby steps up and helps soon. When is he done studying?
I'm about THISCLOSE to freaking out on my own DH. He complains about how different life is and he feels like he just comes home from work and sits around (we're normally both very busy and extrovert people) and I'm like I DO THAT ALL EFFING DAY!!!! Then he makes plans to go workout with some friends, which seems fine because baby is sleeping, but literally 5 minutes later the baby wakes up (after having continually crappy naps all afternoon) and only wants to nurse. On top of that I have a plugged duct on one side and I think thrush on the other. I'm so done breastfeeding and being by myself all day only to be alone during the really crappy early evening hours too.
Sorry for the vent. Rough day here too. :(

Hang in there boyz and taytum. Those first few months are the hardest.
I didn't breastfeed with any of mine so i certainly can't relate with that but as a person who is so on the go i would struggle with the nursing side of things so hats off to you for doing it.
I have been so irritated the last few days im wondering if im prelabouring. Only having braxton hicks on and off and cervix pains which has helped my cervix open and soften but other than that this baby is all too comfortable.
I was meant to be productive over the wkend but didn't achieve everything i set out to do which frustrates me. My arm is still sore from the boostrix injection. Im having an iron infusion later today as Hb dropped to 100 and iron stores still low im praying i feel better and can do backflips on the way out 😂😂

You're so right Boyz, breastfeeding is so hard. Part of me wonders if I'd feel so confined and upset if I wasn't breastfeeding. I didn't want to in the beginning, but the sheer cost of formula has scared me into keeping it up until I go back to work. I only like the bonding with him - I hate everything else about it!!
Sounds like your DH might think that by taking the older boys he's helping you out? My DH doesn't help out at night since there's not much for him to do since I'm breastfeeding. And he wakes up in the morning and takes him so I can eat breakfast. My hardest time is from like 5-8pm. I really need a break then. You need some sleep girl. Even if that means DH gives one bottle at night so you can catch a few consecutive hours of sleep. I hope you get some relief soon.
Hope you feel better soon netti! Is boostrix the tdap injection? My arm was SO SORE for a few days after! Yikes!
Blue: I hate pumping! [emoji37] I have a small stash built up for when DH and I go out, but I try not to pump because I feel like after I nurse him I pump and not a whole lot comes out since he just fed. So then I feel like that was a waste of my time and cleaning pumps and bottles and then I'm worried about oversupplying myself and mastitis or more clogged ducts. I feel like it takes more time after to devote to pumping and I'm already feeling like a slave to my boobies! I love the idea of pumping and DH giving a bottle but the work that goes into it seems so much more daunting than just doing it myself.
Hoping tomorrow is a new day!

Hey boyz and Taytum! Just wanted to pop on to say you are both doing brilliantly, and to offer some encouragement!!! Sleep deprivation never ever makes you feel good and it is so hard when it feels like we are doing all the work with a newborn as there is only so much DH can do when you are breastfeeding. You are both giving the babies such a good start though, and things WILL settle down and you WILL get more sleep and the feeding WILL ease off! Try to keep talking to your DHs and demand some more help otherwise resentment will start to build up. My DH has thankfully always been good and even wakes up with me for night feeds - both our girls have had reflux so needed really good winding after a feed, so I would breastfeed them and then DH would take over for the winding bit while I went back to sleep! This is a team effort, so remind the DHs of that and ask them to look after the babies for a while (ideally taking them right out the house for a walk or a drive) so you can have a bit of much needed time to yourselves to rest. Hugs to you both.

You guys aren't kidding, this FTM and new baby stuff is tough some days. Combined with my lack of sleep and his lack of napping in the afternoon makes life really tough. Today is a new day though and on the bright side, so far we've been nursing WITHOUT a nipple shield! Hoping we can keep it going!
I'm so sorry DH is not helping you at all Boyz. I couldn't imagine doing this by myself plus having other kids like you do. My DH is actually really helpful and I know he felt bad for being gone and when he came back he immediately took over and got baby to sleep so I could take care of myself, eat dinner and compose. He really is really helpful, I was just frustrated that it seems like right when he walked out the door C woke up and it was crying city.
I think some of mine is bitterness towards breastfeeding as I feel so controlled and homebound. I made a compromise to only keep at it until work begins again in August, so I'm trying to push through. You're right bluebooties, BF is taxing. I think I just hate pumping just as much if not more so this seems the lesser of the two evils for me. It's hard either way and I applaud you for pumping! I think it's a lot more admirable for women who EP! Wow!

Taytum its just bad timings for us i guess. I have always struggled with post partum blues. With ds2 i even were on medication to control my depression. I dont want to go that route as i m BF. Littleone is very gassy. I m not sure if its the formula or my diet. BF with my ds1 was a breeze. Came so naturally and i did it for a yr before i went back to work. Ds2 i gave up on 2 nd week. I'm so sorry things have been so tough Taytum and Boyz :( I hope your DHs help you soon!!
We're settling in here at day 5. I actually had a brief meltdown first day home because my FIL made truly horrible comments about us having a girl -- he made several people uncomfortable because his comments were so offensive, but my DH was good about calling him out.
In my sleep deprived state it REALLY hurt, but I was angry over sad or regretful. I'm honestly amazed at how my GD went away -- I can't imagine having any other baby than my little Lily! My DH has already gone, "See we don't need to have a boy!," but I'm not quite at that stage ;)
I just know that you guys were all so right about bonding after birth. I just wish my DH would full on cut his dad out of our lives because he's always been such an asshole :/

Sorry logged on with different account. This is Yogi-
Hello girls! Sorry for chiming in so late. I am so sorry Taytum and Boyz 😣 I feel you girls. It seems that us BF mom's are having a tougher time. I'm going on day 8 of breastfeeding and I'm so ready to throw in the towel. I feel partly at fault for giving my baby a breast milk bottle and introducing him to a pacifier. Looks like I have confused him and now I can't get a good latch. My supply is also drastically decreasing even with drinking lots of fluids and eating milkmaid cookies to help increase my supply but so far it's not working and I have a frustrated baby and self. I feel like running out and getting a can of formula so bad. I am going to give it a day or two and if nothing works I am officially bottle formula feeding. I feel like such a failure :( my dh has been helpful but has an event with his car Club so he's left me to fend for my self as well as he's outside fixing his car. I hope our dh's snap back to reality and step in a little more. They do not realize all the work we put in as mothers.
Hang in there Netti and Has2 your almost there! Best wishes and I pray you gals have a healthy delivery 😘

I took 500mg 3x a day orally starting at 37w. Even though my midwife said it wasn't proven to be anymore effective, I also inserted 500mg vaginally starting at 39w and bumped it up too 100mg the two days before I went into labor.

Boyz and Taytum you're both doing amazing! I know those days are so hard. I didn't produce any breast milk after pumping every 2 hours, for 4-5 weeks with both my boys so I won't be pumping this time around but I know even though I didn't make milk how hard it is. I felt like I couldn't boons with my babies right away. I hear from a lot of breastfeeding mommies that if you can get to the 2 month mark you've gotten through the hardest part. They always say it's very convenient after that. Thinking of you both and just know you're doing great!! You might find breastfeeding is not for you and that's ok too.Hang in there!
For EPO vaginally do you break it open? I only have 1300mg capsules. Would it be too much to take one orally and one vaginally at that dose? I'm 36 weeks now.

It dissolves, so no need to break it open! Not sure about the dosing though -- might want to ask a midwife or nurse? I imagine only one orally and vaginally at that dose a day would be ok (since 1500 mg total a day orally is what my midwife told me, I just had it split into 3x a day with 500mg)

Thanks ladies for all the encouragement. We've had some good BF days and I've finally just said, if I'm not home and he's hungry, he won't die with formula. It's good for me to have the option and tell myself that it's okay to leave the house a bit! So being more open minded has really helped!
We're 7 weeks old tomorrow but NOTHING entertains this kid! Not rocking, swinging or bouncing! Thankfully we bought a carrier and he likes to go for walks, but man! And if we run an errand and he wakes up, all bets off as he'll want out of the car seat and no guarantee he won't cry while I hold him. Yeessh! Trying not to wish the days away but transport me to 12 weeks!!

My LO on the other hand is starting to smile at me. I know its early but she really does smile in response to my talking to her. She had a few fussy days and a little lose BM's just recently but otherwise she is doing well

I'm starting to wonder if it's colic or extreme fussiness. I think C is hyper sensitive to sleep - when he's tired he goes from drowsy to freak out in 5 seconds. And then it's impossible to get him to sleep. Tonight I've been with him since about 6:30 and it's almost 8. I know he's tired he just won't sleep! Unless this is our 3hrs of colic time. He seems to do this with naps too. It's like if he's awake longer than one hour there's no telling how long it will take to get him back to sleep.
I'm starting really question having more than one!

Taytum, he may be getting overtired. As a postpartum doula and infant nanny I always found that my super young babies (under 6 months) would get tired after about an hour of being awake. So the schedule was feed and diaper change as soon as they woke up, then play time (tummy time on mat), and as soon as they started fussing it would be around the one hour mark which is when I'd pop them in my sling and walk around the house, then swaddled and put to sleep. You may want to try reading The Natural Baby Sleep Solution which really explains babies' sleep cycles. If he's being kept awake for over 60-90 minutes then he's probably overtired which would make it much more difficult for him to fall asleep.

Thanks essence! That's exactly what we've been doing - a cycle of eat/change, activity, sleep. When he gets fussy I know he's tired so we swaddle, walk/rock and sing until he's asleep. I think the problem becomes sometimes he goes to sleep and I put him down and he's right back up (doesn't do this at night). So I think his "cat naps" aren't enough and it's all catching up with him around 6pm. Then he physically WON'T go to sleep no matter what! We swaddle, rock, white noise and sometimes a pacifier (he hates!). We do a bedtime routine of bath, eat, book, but he still is just a madman. This week I'm going to just stay home and every hour he's going right back to sleep.
He's SO happy when he wakes up in the morning or has a great 3hr nap in the afternoon (usually sleeping on me!). He is a great sleeper at night once he goes down. It's just a lot at 6pm because my husband rarely sees the sweet boy during the day and both of us are exhausted by then too.

Yep! Massage with lavender lotion. I wasn't sure if this was just regular witching hour or something more?

PLEASE don't take EPO orally to induce labor, girls. I know this is a time honored midwife thing but it's controversial even among midwives (has not been proven safe OR effective) and EPO is a MAJOR blood thinner. I took EPO to induce labor with DS 3, not only did it not work (he came a few days late just like all 5 of my kiddos did) but I also had tons and tons of small red blood clots in my amniotic fluid. The nurses had never seen anything like it before and I have subsequently talked to some other people who took EPO and had similar issues with unexplained bleeding in themselves or their newborns.

Taytum I think that's just a rough age for some kiddos. It's like they realize "the rest of the world is up and moving and I am stuck here!!" They do get overtired for sure.
This too shall pass!! It is just a stage. He'll probably be an early walker, my two that were the most frustrated at this age walked early. (freakishly. early.)

Thanks atomic and blue!! I was so worried something was wrong with him. I finally saw in two different books I was skimming today that he's probably going through a growth spurt and all babies have some more difficulty around 5-11 weeks. We're in the thick of it at 7! Just going to go with the flow - I think he's been trying to cluster feed at night again so tonight we're just going to park in his room and camp out after his bed routine. Hoping in a few weeks I can post about how enjoyable he is! Right now he's kind of an a-hole! [emoji6][emoji170]

Thanks Atomic! Is EPO inserted vaginally still ok. Definitely not trying to induce labor quite yet! I thought it was just for ripening cervix.
I scheduled an acupuncture appointment for the day before my due date (July 14th)! I always go late so still anticipating going late but we'll see!

How's everyone else been feeling? Hopefully getting ready for more babies!
Things are better here. I think he was going through a growth spurt or something BUT, we bought a new swaddle he loves (Love to Dream Swaddle Up) and found pacifiers he'll actually take and life has been SO much easier! He goes down for naps like a champ now and I think the sleep is what he was missing. He still hasn't smiled AT me yet (7w3d) but he smiles at the ceiling and last night he smiled at the bird on his play mat haha. Hoping he looks at me and smiles soon!

Boyz has your LO had a bowel movement yet? I think you should call the pediatrician. Newborns are supposed to have at least one bowel movement a day and more if you are doing breast and bottle. Could be the formula that's constipating her. Hope she feels better soon.

There is no best answer. Each baby is different but mostly similac sensitive, enfamil gentelease or enfamil prosobee rcrecommended.
