Dr Potter,
After a failed cycle where most embryos (6 out of 7) were of the opposite gender we are very inclined to do MicroSort before our final attempt at gender balancing. Do you accept a frozen (sorted) sample from MicroSort Guadalajara or Mexico City? If you've done this before have you seen good results?
Thank you.

Is Dr Potter still active on this Q&A? Would love to know if he has had patients using Microsorted sperm.

Yes, we do accept Microsorted Sperm from Mexico, although in our experience the quality of the sperm received has been poor.
Best,

Thank you so much Dr Potter. Would you say the sperm was still usable with ICSI or did the quality of the sorted samples negatively affect the outcome (i.e. poor embryo quality)?
Thanks for your time.

Did you ever get an answer to this question?

If you go to Mexico to give the sample then freeze to bring here there shouldn't be an issue. I would not recommend freezing sperm, send to Mexico, thaw and Microsort, then refreeze and send here. This would definitely affect the quality of the sample.
Thanks,

Hello Dr Potter.
I just had a failed cycle using Microsort and PGS.. I had nothing to transfer.. Here's my short story... would you think this was caused by meds or by microsort. my two only girls were abnormal.. :(
Age 31
Husband 30
I have 3 boys conceived naturally all my hormone levels normal...
Stims used was only Pergoveris and cetrotide and ovidrell for trigger.
13-14 follicles all measuring between 18-20 mm... so everything looked good... 21 eggs retrieved / 16 eggs injected with the Microsort sample / only 9 fertilized / 5 embryos didn't develop (they arrested) so I only was left with 4 embryos for PGS Testing...
PGS Testing Results:
2 good quality males - came back normal
2 normal quality females - came back abnormal
So I got just nothing to transfer :(
I am not sure what is the issue there.. was it the stims that made me had low egg quality was I overstimulated? or is it something genetic (I already did the test of karyotypes to see if there are any chromosome translocations, just waiting on the results), or was it caused by microsort? :( please share your experience with me.

Gaby, I'm obviously not Dr. Potter but since he sometimes is busy I do want to give you an answer if I possibly can.
It's not unusual to have that kind of result with or without Microsort. Reading people's cycle diaries you can see results like this even without Microsort, unfortunately a bit of luck of the draw. In retrospect it isn't really possible for anyone to truly know what went wrong. But what I do want you to consider is that even after the Microsort you ended up with 50-50 XX and XY. So it really didn't gain you anything. Did it cost you some potentials, we can't say, but at the same time it didn't make all or even most XX to choose from. That's how I would approach the decision.
