Hi, I've noticed alot of Mums of girls seem to have hourglass figures and Mums of boys tend to have more of a straight figure with narrow hips. Maybe the hormones create the figures and sway gender ratios? Anyone else notice this amoung friends? I have very narrow hips, no fat around the hips or bottom, tend to gain round the stomach and boobs mostly.

I have child bearing hips.. they aren't huge but I do have trouble getting pants/trousers to fit nicely even though I'm fairly thin. My weight gain goes on my thighs, hips, stomach and bottom.

Omg, I wish this were true. I'm very slim with a totally flat chest but very wide hips. Makes bathing suit shopping fun. Two boys here. And I know about 3 other boy moms who aren't particularly narrow hipped. I think hips = bone structure = just genetics.

I'm a pear and I have two boys. I was a skinny pear when I conceived them but now I'm a fat pear. :(

My SIL and MIL are very pear with two boys and a girl and three boys and a girl respectively. My very hipless/flat chested figured aunt had two girls and my similarly bodied SIL had a boy and a girl. I'm very hourglass and hoping for a boy after my girl, but if we're making general observations, I feel like an hourglass or pear shape would yield more boys, if anything, since it's an evolutionary sign of higher fertility?

Thanks for reassuring me :-), I'd actually love to have a bit of a bottom and an hourglass shape!

What's a bathing suit?? You mean others don't swim in a tank top and shorts because that's the only thing that fits them?? ;)

Haha!
I'm totally an hourglass figure and have 3 boys.
I've noticed more than anything that girl moms are either skinny and lean or are overweight but not "fat" more like big boned.
I too have to wear a tankini with either the hipster bottoms or with regular swim suit bottoms. I could NEVER wear a bikini- I have a rather large chest compared to my small frame!
Sadly, we cannot make generalizations about body type for being a same gendered family.

It's probably a good thing we can't as I was beginning to think that maybe I was doomed as just didn't have the right body type figure to have a girl as thought maybe I needed more of a womanly figure to have a girl :-)

No one is "doomed!!" If any human being could only make boys or girls the whole human race would have died out long ago.
