View Full Version : Has anyone not given up weight lifting?

Thinking about adding a 4th and finial to our family. I am thinking about doing a light sway. I recently got into exercising and weight lifting. I didn't weight lift when I got pregnant with my 3 boys. Wondering how huge of a role it would play. I plan on no breakfast, working out on an entry stomach, changing my diet, and maybe timing.

Hmmm. I'm hesitant to lift weights while swaying. I have always lifted. I lifted with DS1, not with DS2 (couch potato but lost a ton of weight), and I did cardio and light weights with DS3. While I had a total boy lifestyle with DS1 and DS2, I had a failed sway that brought me my sweet DS3 [emoji4].

There were other things going on during my last sway. That being said, this time I wanted to stick to what has been working for most people- LE diet for 12+ weeks, 60min cardio only for 6-7 days a week, one attempt or BDing every 4 days, alcohol, coffee (decaf since I'm breastfeeding), folic acid, and fiber if eating a fatty/nutrient rich meal (rare for me).

I think you've got to do what you think is best. Light weights should be fine, especially if you're also doing the cardio for the recommended time.

FX and GL to you!

I'm keeping some light weights twice a week in the context of a cardio class. Today I did the class, which lasted 45min, then hopped on the elliptical for another 20min. The rest of the week I'm power walking or biking. I feel like it shouldn't hurt me too much because the weights are so light I barely feel them and they help get my heart rate up. When I got DS1 I was walking an hour or more every day with no weights, so I'm not sure how much faith I have in cardio for me personally, even if the stats are good. I'm focusing more on diet.

You can get a girl with any level or type of exercise, even doing light weights, provided you are eating a lower protein, lower cal, lower fat diet.

I have seen women who are doing weights who got girls. Sure.

Now do I think it's your optimal chances of success, nah, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

I plan on doing the le diet 60 mins of cardio and lights weights. Weight lifting is not something I want to give up. ( I know sounds selfish). I just wanted to
Make sure it wouldn't completely ruin my light sway.

:agree: light weights are in a different category particularly if you're a person who is very fit because you may not be able to get much of a workout without them.

Why is that selfish?? You get to have exactly the sway that is right for you!!

Like I just mentioned, light weights are not the same thing as trying to add lbs of muscle mass by lifting heavy weights. :)

Can I hi-jack this thread slightly? I'm trying not to let myself obsess over every aspect of my sway but having said that I don't want to go to the effort of doing exercise 6 days a week and not having it count towards my sway in a positive way... Anyway, I do an hour boxing-style cardio class a few times a week, is that OK for a girl sway? I wasn't sure if the aggressiveness they ask you to channel in the class would sway blue?

I have a longtime friend who had a boy in feb09 and another in mar12 who said she wasnt sure if she would ever get a daughter because they had to bd close to o in order to conceive (aka disproved shettles ;) ) and her hubs was 98% sure he was done with just 2 kids....so they continued the rhythm method to avoid and it worked for 3 yrs and then she was eating more protein than ever in her life and taking a weight lifting/building class (her words to me when i asked out of curiousity if her lifestyle was different than when she conceived her boys) and she said the rhythm method failed them one time and baby girl came along born feb16 .... so her change to protein and weights may have shifted her normal o pattern and hubs 2% ok with having another kid got her her babygirl she always wanted ;)

Just sharing not debating or trying to give false hope just saying anything is possible

I fully agree that everyone can get a boy or a girl when running straight from the opposite color's playbook. :agree:

What you have to understand here is that a lot of this stuff is me basically doing "thought experiments" where I sit around imagining based on the best evidence I have, how things ~might~ sway. As we all know, the available information hovers somewhere between slim and none, and so much of this is literally stuff that I just guess at.

So my GUESS is that we should probably avoid things like hitting, kicking, punching in our exercise routines just because we CAN do that with some ease and focus more on "dancy" type cardio or walking/jogging. But I don't KNOW that and in fact I'm not even really truly convinced that testosterone levels in and of themselves are really what is swaying anyway.

Just like I GUESS but do not know that lifting heavy weights while eating a high protein diet should probably be avoided for pink, and I GUESS but do not know hat light weights with weight loss and lower protein diet are probably ok for pink. So you guys need to do what is working for you first and foremost (coupled with, of course, the things in our results that are seeming to work very well) but we just have no real data about kickboxing exercises or weights vs. light weights.

I lifted HEAVY 4x a week for years when I conceived my DD. I did it fasted though, in addition to lots of cardio throughout the week and low calories overall. I definitely ate low protein for the lifting I was doing :/

I can't do LE diet and weight lift- weight lifting makes me too hungry due to increase in calorie burn.

For me, it's much easier for me to stick to the diet doing cardio only. It still revs up metabolism but doesn't increase my appetite as much.

I say, try it and see how it makes you feel. If you can do it and still stick to the LE diet and no snacking, go for it!!

^^^ great point, I've just been noticing that phenomenon as well (not swaying, just dieting) I can't seem to have it both ways, either I work out a lot and eat more, or I eat less and then can't get through an intense exercise routine. :/
