Ladies.... is it safe to take Clomid without a prescription? I see that you can buy them online. Is this not advised?

I do not recommend buying it online but if you do, let me know so I can help you do it safely.

Thank you Atomic. I will wait and see how this weekend goes in terms of getting a +OPK (update: DH does not want to DTD e4d as it is his busy season at work and he is just way too exhausted when he gets home. So we are back to one attempt at +OPK). So I will keep monitoring my O. I am currently on CD20... so I think I will give it the weekend and then make a decision. As you might recall, It is very important to me to get pregnant before I go back to work in September so I am on a bit of a timeline here.

You can get it online? Is it legit? I'd be scared...

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but did you try asking your doctor first before you considered buying online? If you're a bit creative in explaining how long you've been trying, you might be able to find a legit source.

Hey, yes I have decided not to go the online route. I am a bit nervous about it. I did contact my doctor but I wont be able to see him for about 3 weeks and then he will make a referral to a fertility clinic and that takes about 2-3 months. So I either needed to get it online or go without it. So I am going to try to go without it and hope I ovulate!

I don't recommend it. People do it and it has worked out for them, but most of it comes from countries and pharmacies (legit pharmacies require a prescription) that are a little bit dodgy as the Brits say and I just feel loads better about getting it from good sources.
Remember, we get similar results with diet longer than 12 weeks and exercise. Clomid is not a magic bullet anyway!

I definitely fibbed (ok lied) to my OBGYN to get it. I just said we had been off the pill for 2 full years without conceiving and that I'd like to try clomid. (This was true, I don't like the BCP, haven't been on it in almost 8 years now, and have always used FF to avoid pregnancy) she just assumed we'd been TTC for the 2 years and said she'd write a script for 50 mg. If that didn't work then she said she'd have to refer me to a fertility clinic as she doesn't like doing clomid at all, and won't prescribe higher than 50 mg.

:agree: that is the way to do it, Carmella. Don't go in asking for Clomid, just go in saying you've been TTC a while and haven't gotten pregnant and most of the time they'll give ya a script for it. YOu're there for help getting pregnant, not Clomid. Don't even MENTION the C word haha. If they say no, or "keep trying" say thank you and go on your way, you're no worse off than you were before. If they refer you to fertility doc or for blood tests, say thank you and go on your way and then don't go to the appointments. If anyone asks about them (which they usually won't) say you changed your mind about TTC due to family emergency or finances or just decided to wait a year or whatever. No matter what, don't get upset or start demanding the Clomid because that is a surefire way to guarantee ya won't get any. :/

^^^ and that is even true for those who legitimately need it for medical reasons. I have seen quite a few ladies denied Clomid (esp. in the UK) for absolutely no reason when it is totally medically indicated. UK girls, you can get it in Spain over the counter from pharmacies if you really need it. Don't mention Clomid!!!

Yes it seems like for me it would be a very lengthy process to get it and I would have to go through a few channels and not really worth it for me. Coincidenctally I ended up getting a +OPK today so back to my original plan!

Atomic,
Do you think BCP and clomid have equal results? (With exercise and LE diet for 12 weeks plus)
I am currently on BCP for my sway, most likely making attempt in August. I had always planned to try and have my obgyn write an rx for clomid for my sway..I know on my personalized plan we it stated to stay on the BCP..just wondering your thoughts on the difference? Thanks! [emoji4]

No, I don't think they're the same (they have roughly equal rates in our results but that is not showing the many people who tried to catch the first egg (or second) coming off the pill and did not get pregnant.
if you can get Clomid, do it.
I only wrote your plan that way because I didn't know about the potential Clomid! :)

Assuming I would catch the first egg and become pregnant do you find the results somewhat equal? I was thinking if I didn't get pregnant the first month of BCP I would ask her about clomid. Unless you think the success rate would be higher with clomid on the first round. What are your thoughts? [emoji4]

I don't have the evidence I would need to say that, I'm sorry.
Clomid is great if you can get it, the trouble is that we can't most of the time. :) I still think it (or Femara) the best there is. It will be a very big challenge to get Clomid if your doc knows you were just on BCP!!!
