Ladies, whilst I'm certain I'm having a boy, I'm still clinging to the smallest hope that I might be cooking a girl in here!! Had a scan today and while I'm 32 weeks babies measuring 33 weeks and 4 days. My son also measured ahead by about 2 weeks at this time, so feeling even more certain we are having a little brother, but tell me.. did anyone measure ahead and have a girl???
TIA!

I don't think it means gender either. My 1st son was on dates. 2nd son was behind at 1st then caught up and then ended up big. 3rd son was borderline below to on date was small compared to 1st 2. This one started out being bigger for dates so they have moved my due date forward. Find out next week what im having

My twins (we did pgd so they should be girls) are measuring ahead this time round. I wouldn't say that has any correlation with gender at all!

That's good to know! I didn't think twins usually measured ahead, they must be thriving :)

It seems to be more common for girls to measure smaller than boys, but definately not always! So yes there's absolutely a chance for a girl. My two sons always measured average or a bit ahead. Now I'm team green and lo measuring a bit behind and tech things it will be a small one at birth. About a pound lighter then my sons, so who knows what this lo is.

My biggest baby was a girl and she was my first born. Size isn't an indicator of gender. Also take it with a grain of salt. 2weeks+/- is normal with measurements and doesn't actually mean that the baby is bigger or smaller as it can often be that the person doing the measuring makes small errors or does the measurements slightly differently. A gf of mine had a baby measure 4 weeks ahead and was a baby girl. :)

Two girls and one boy, due October 16

Yes I always measured ahead (2-3 weeks) and what's more, my daughter was my second biggest baby, despite not gaining as much with her as I did with DS 2,3, and 4.

I have heard it may have to do with where your placenta is located and also what baby is up to, if they're laying up against the front of the uterus.

Data even indicates high maternal testosterone = smaller baby so right there that doesn't indicate that could possibly be true.

Placenta location could be true because my boys had an posterior placenta and this one has an anterior placenta.

Thanks ladies! I get scanned every visit and have been measuring exactly on date until a few weeks ago when it shot ahead, maybe a growth spurt?! Sometimes I think too much information is not good during this process, it gets u thinking. I'm also starting to get anxious about the whole birthing process, they told me my first son was very big and I should have a csection - he wasn't, I had him naturally and if anything he was under weight.
Incidentally, I'm carrying very small, people don't believe how far along I am and I'm not a big person to begin with, I'm putting this down to a posterior placenta, I was definitely more 'out' last time!

It's probably baby's position or having gained a bit of extra chub in the midsection. It is probaby not baby's size because babies just don't gain massive amounts of weight overnight that can make your stomach pop out. we're talking ounces here
