Is it in any way correlated? If I get pregnant when my baby is say, 12 months, am I more likely to conceive a girl because my body would not be as replenished with nutrients/recovered from the previous pregnancy, compared to waiting until my baby is for example 2 years before ttc again?

Pregnancy spacing I think is only one small part in swaying. I know plenty of women with boys that are 18 months or less apart. A lady I know got pregnant with her DS when her DD was only 7 months old. When DS1 was only 13 months old, I got pregnant with DS2 so clearly it didn't matter that much. I think you should do the spacing that works best for you and your family.

I think it's really hard to determine what time period will sway for any one person because people recover at different rates. If you had low iron, hemmorraged, or had complications during pregnancy, or are still breastfeeding frequently, you could easily be more "depleted" at 18 months than someone who had no complications and formula fed would be at 6 months, kwim?

i was still breastfeeding quite frequently and fell pregnant to DS2 when DS1 was 12 months old. i wasnt swaying or anything, however probably had a naturally good HE diet and other things that sway blue though.

I think another factor might be that couples who can conceive quickly after a baby are probably quite fertile and more inclined to have boys even if the spacing itself sways pink.

I think it depends more on the diet and exercise.

I know plenty of women that have both girls or boys with close spacing.

I would think if you're doing the LE diet and cardio, you would be more set for pink with close spacing than blue. At least that's what I'm hoping for anyway! My DS3 is 7mo and I'm sticking to the limits of LE diet and doing the 60min of cardio 6-7 days a week.

Overall I do think that closer spacing sways pink and strongly suggest blue swayers to wait 18 months minimum before TTC, and 2 years is better.

But, it's no magic bullet to be sure and so above all else you need to put your family's needs first.

You guys have to view this thru the lens of the "Fertility Factor" though, because it is only the moms in the best condition who are ABLE to get pregnant with that close spacing (especially when breastfeeding). So even if the child spacing factor was swaying 20% (which would be a huge sway), if you go from 80% likely to have a boy, to 60% likely to have a boy, that's still going to be more boys conceived even though it's swaying strongly pink. :)

I got pregnant with DS2 when DS1 was 5 months old. So definitely not true in my case lol.

But again, it's actually relatively unusual to be able to get pregnant 5 months postpartum. It's not something that the majority can do. So you were probably in very good condition and highly fertile for that to happen.

if something sways pink 20%, and you come into TTC 80% likely to TTC a boy, something can sway pink 20 or even 30% for you and you're still 60-50% likely to have another boy!!!

Just because something in isolation didn't seem to work, it doesn't mean that it wasn't still swaying pink for you. Just that overall you were possibly more blue-friendly anyway, coupled with the luck aspect of it all (meaning what if you were 80% likely to have a girl because of that spacing and then just hit that 20% blue odds thru luck!!!)
