Hey all -

K I'm not officially swaying yet but am starting to make changes, like adding in fiber with meals.... On the fiber I know I read on here somewhere that any kind of fiber is fine, but I'm still wondering, is Benefiber just as good as Metamucil/ psyllium husk/ chitosan? That's what I've always used when I've needed fiber but if for any reason it's thought to be less effective than one of the others please let me know!! Also, are you supposed to take the fiber at the exact same time as eating, or a certain amount of time before eating, or what? And lastly how much are you taking? Right now I have these little Benefiber on the go packets (I think one packet is 2 tsps of powder) and I just do one of those when I eat... Too much? I will say I have always had mild issues with irregularity/ constipation so being a little on the higher side of the fiber intake is probably good for me anyways!

I've been using Metamucil since starting my sway in January. I don't know if it's better or worse than the other ones you listed above; I purchased it because that's what Costco had in stock! :-) During the first 2-3 months of my sway I was taking fiber directly after every meal. I think that the fiber intake combined with the hour of walking every night made my weight FLY off. I've lost 15 pounds total and probably 12 of those pounds came off in the first 2-3 months. To help slow down the weight loss, I ended up decreasing my fiber intake to 1 x daily, always after dinner as that is usually the meal with the highest fat intake. I've always taken 1 TSP of the fiber with each meal.

Either kind of fiber is fine. Just make sure it only had fiber and is not fortified with any extra vitamins.

Benefiber is also fine. We do not have a comparison of various fibers (we don't have the kind of resources to do something like that) and I believe they all sway pink.

You don't need to go up to the sky high doses on the bottle, those are for people with health issues that require massive fiber intake. Start off small!!

just do one of the packets before any meal (30min to an hour) that contains fat or fat soluble nutrients like A, D, E (so as an example, a dark leafy salad, or skim dairy, even if not eating fat with them) and the fiber will suck up some of that stuff that may sway pink.

:agree: a few of them have added nutrients so I'd skip those and go for just fiber

Ok thanks! I'll stick with the Benefiber for now!
