So I have a lap scheduled for Tuesday to remove the golf ball sized endometrioma that's on my left ovary, plus the doctor will be looking for endometriosis in other places and performing a hysteroscopy to look for fibroids inside my uterus. I had my pre-op appointment today and got to ask some questions, but I wanted some real life tips and experiences from people who've had the actual procedure.

DH will be taking the day off for my procedure (unfortunately it's on his birthday!!!) and the boys will be at camp all day. He's only taking one day off though so I hope I'll be fine to drive them to camp the next day? The doctor said I should be ok to drive as long as I'm not taking the Tylenol with codeine (she also prescribed another pain med that is less strong).

How soon were you able to leave the hospital after the procedure? My procedure start time is at 7:30am (check in at 5:30am!) and my doctor said I should be able to go home by 1:30pm probably. The only other "surgery" I've had is when I got my wisdom teeth removed 17 years ago!!! After that I just remember being super nauseous and almost throwing up as I tried to make it to my bed at home and passing out for the rest of the day! I'm also worried about the gas shoulder pain that I've read about and that my best friend said was horrible after her c-section. Any way to prevent this or make it go away faster?

For those of you that had a hysteroscopy as well, did you have bleeding afterwards? And if so, was it like a period or just spotting? I've been on high dose norethindrone acetate for the past 2 months in order to skip my periods and build up my iron stores.

Any tips or advice? Anything I should get ahead of time to make recovery easier? Anything DH needs to know ahead of time?
