Hi can anybody tell me if water melon is OK on the pcos diet. I was just talking to a friend who has diabetes and they said that water melon is high on the GI and makes her blood sugar spike really high. I've been eating a large slice at lunch for a while now thinking that I was choosing a low sugar fruit, have I been getting this wrong? My next attempt is tonight and I had a large slice again this lunch and now panicking a little!
Oh and is cous cous too carby for pcos diet?

I don't want you guys worrying about the GI and things that make diabetics' blood sugar spike. That's not what we're doing here, we aren't trying to control things to the level that diabetics have to. It is fine for our blood sugar to go up after eating, that is normal. wE are making a lot of changes that are improving your body's ability to

Watermelon is FINE on PCOS diet. It actually has less calories in it than grapefruit believe it or not because it's so watery.

RE cous-cous - If you are eating 1500-1800 cals a day and 50-60 g protein and 50-60 g fat, and you sneak in a little couscous now and then it's ok. It's "carbier" than something like brown rice or whatever but still can be had in small amounts as desired for most people (those who actually ahve full blown PCOS may need to forgo the couscous but if you are just on the diet as a preventative measure or for egg quality, it's ok now and then)
