I'm just wondering about milk and milk products for swaying girls, am I right in saying we should limit our intake of milk products? I know everything in moderation is allowed on the Le Diet but should we try and limit our calcium intake overall? And what's a good recommended milk substitute ... Almond?

I've been wondering the same! I've been eating a lot of low fat muller light yogurts to stop being hungry while doing the le diet but I hope I'm not ruining my sway? They're really low fat & not fortified with any vitamins etc but obviously still dairy?

I would let your diet totals be your guide. I don't want you to treat dairy as a free food, but it IS a great way to get a lot of cals, protein, and fat (if you need to) while not stuffing yourself.

Thanks Atomic, just wondering tho if you were to avoid full fat milk all together what is a good substitute soya, almond, rice or goats?

I always have skimmed milk, I'm not sure if that's ok? Only a little in my coffee not much x

If you compare a full fat carton of milk and a low fat carton of milk there is more sugar in the low fat one, and less fat ... It's a bit mis leading but that's how advertising works!

Soy milk, I believe it sways pink, but others say blue and so just as a general rule, since there's conflicting info on it I tend to have you guys avoid it. Anyone with thyroid issues, even if you just suspect you have tendencies that way, soy may make them really act up and also anyone with Crohn's please avoid soy.
Almond and coconut based milks seem ok to me. The fats in them are vegetable based and so while they do have some nutrients, they may still sway pink.
I drank a lot of rice milk when I ttc my daughter. If you have PCOS it is very carby though and may make those tendencies act up.
I think goats milk is the grossest thing I ever drank and I do not recommend it for anyone except baby goats. :)

Yes that is fine! Most pink swayers do use skim milk. Anyone with PCOS or insulin resisistance or more than 30 lbs to use should use full fat instead, as something about the sugars in skim milk really makes these high blood sugar tendencies act up.

:agree: exactly. Skim has slightly more carbs, full fat has only a few carbs.

I know this is an old thread but I'm confused. I am attempting a low key girl sway and have been looking at the diets and it looks like the french girl diet requires 1/4 gallon of milk every day? am I misreading this??

Yeah, but I don't recommend the French Gender Diet.
My advice is for LE Diet.

Does anyone know of a brand of milk that is low sugar?
My skim milk I have in my fridge right now says it has 12g sugar per serving. I compared the full fat version of the same brand and it also has 12g.
Nutrition Facts | Galliker's Dairy (http://www.gallikers.com/milk/nutrition-facts/)
Lowest one I've been able to find online of any brand is 11g...
am I missing something???

am I missing something???All cow's milk is going to have high sugar.
Soy & almond off the top of my head are going to have lower amounts of sugar.
You don't have to cut out sugar though, just enjoy it in moderation :)

It is milk sugar, aka lactose.
It is in all milk.
Is there a reason you're trying to avoid this?

:agree: yes the "sugar" in milk is not added sugar, it's a naturally occurring element of milk. It's in all milk.

Well, the thing is that people who are on the alternate PCOS-type LE Diet actually DO have to avoid sugar.
But that is ADDED sugar and carbs, NOT the naturally occurring sugar in dairy products. That's ok but people on PCOS friendly version of LE Diet need to have ONLY full fat milk because the skim dairy is really terrible for raising their blood sugar levels.
Soy and almond milk still have carbs though and for many people on the PCOS-friendly version of LE Diet they will be by far better off just having full fat milk rather than soy or almond. :)

I don't know that it is, just that I felt I needed to clarify since quite a lot of people are on that version of the diet. There is sometimes confusion so whenever I see any potential source I just like to clarify. :)

Everything I'm reading is saying to avoid skim milk because of the amount of sugar in it, but to drink full fat milk instead.
I've been drinking skim milk basically daily for my entire life... even 1% seems fatty to me, so I'm dreading switching to full fat.

All milk has sugar in it. It is lactose and it's part of milk. It's not added sugar, it's a component of milk.
The reason why skim dairy is better for those with PCOS is because lactose alone without the fat acts differently on your blood sugar than with the fat. Skim dairy is the DEVIL for blood sugar (and scientists do not know why). It shoots your blood sugar way, way up and may even contribute to diabetes later in life. If you can't stand full fat milk that's fine, have something like cheese or full fat yogurt instead, but anyone on the alternate LE Diet that's better for those with PCOS, insulin resistance, and is better for egg quality, avoid skim milk like the plague.
But there is no sugar free milk because lactose is a part of milk.
